The downtown one is OK. It's mediocre tapas IMO. It's only popular cause half of America has no f'in clue what tapas is and the restaurant is relatively cheap.

Julian Serrano is 100x better. And Jaleo is better than that.

Not saying that those things didn't happen but never trust a 'reality' show. I have the misfortune of occasionally working on them. Most of the time, the only thing unscripted is the dialogue and that can be altered with some creativity.

I was never impressed with service at the Paradise location either - its why I stopped going there actually.

Was there this past Sunday, basically had what is discussed here: http://www.foodforthoughtmiami.com/2...las-vegas.html

Except we started with a Rebujito, I don't recall truffles on our artichoke puree, no caviar on the fried bone marrow, no foie gras course, and no truffle dessert (I guess truffles are more of a deep winter and summer thing?).

What are everyone's favorite restaurants based on value? Coming into town with some friends who are on a bit of budget. They have money to spend but can't afford to be eating at a place like SW every night. One of my favorite spots (not fine dining) is Society Cafe at Encore which has very reasonable prices for the quality of food imo.

There's a casual dining thread as well that may be more helpful when eating more on a budget: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/10...thread-967298/

Or are you just looking for a high value fine dining option?

Not mentioning the lunch at Milos is criminal. It's the #1 value in Vegas imo.

You'll be hard pressed to spend under $60 a head at Musashi. Todd's isn't much cheaper and is far off strip.

Goyemon is fine, and good value, but not in the same league as Lotus, or even Monta.

Weekend brunch at Bouchon deserves a nod as well.

Edit:
Milos Lunch > Lotus >>> Bouchon > Monta >>>>>>> rest.

Yeah, sorry, Milo's is def #1. I literally had to run out the door when I got done typing so I couldn't really scan for any other ones.

Musashi late night past midnight has $15-20 dinners.

I disagree about Goyemon, the sushi quality there is really amazing and the experience at the sushi bar is hard to replicate at other places in town. Very few sushi chefs in town will give you an actual sushi omakase off the cuff just because you ask for it and they're more than willing to do it there if it isn't too busy.

I haven't been to Todd's in a while but I like the food and think it's probably the best fine dining offstrip location so I figured I'd throw it in there. It would impress people who don't eat fine dining often.

Ate at Milos yesterday, it was unbelievably good. I'm vegetarian (I know lol) they made me the most amazing risotto. We had a few apps, wine, martinis, etc. Everything was great, I'll be back next trip.

Went for dinner, my buddy had some kind of fish that he picked out himself. We both loved the place. We also ate at Jaleo across the way and loved that too. Cosmopolitan is just solid all around.

I've heart lots of great things about the dining restaurant on top of the Stratosphere, what's the name of it?

Do you guys recommend it? or is it overrated?

Firefly does not belong in the Fine Dining discussion anymore. I think we can all agree that it's more on the casual side and generally not great.

Is there any super fancy/expensive BBQ restaurant in vegas / the world that anyone knows about? I would love BBQ filet mignon or kobe or whatever.

Really good order, two things to consider though. Bouchon is pretty expensive and may not make the list only due to price (but is F*cking awesome - it is in fact great value), and Monta now has really good competition with Soya Ramen - I switch back and forth between these two regularly, I love them both equally. Looking forward to eating with you again this summer, we tore it up in DC!

The most knowledgeable guy in town about BBQ might be Bryan Forgione at Cafe Society. You might know of his more famous brother Marc or his dad Larry, they get all the press but Bryan is super cool. Its a shame that his BBQ experience is going unused at Cafe Society. Stop by Society and introduce yourself, he is really approachable, he can tell you exactly where to go in this town. Here is a pretty good article on Bryan - http://vegas.eater.com/archives/2012...n-days-off.php

Had the Grand Krug tasting menu last night at Twist, the champagne alone was over 1K/head, the single most expensive meal of my life. Pierre Gagnaire was in the kitchen, they sat us at the chef's table, it was fun watching him as he spent most of the night walking around taking pictures of the new menu. We chose to allow Chef Gagnaire to choose our dinner path, they deviated slightly from the tasting menu but it was pretty similar. The most amazing dish of the night was a steak tartar with cuttlefish that looked like it might be the most underwhelming dish of the evening - but it was the real rockstar by a mile. It was like eating the fruity pebbles version of steak tartar... I was blown away by the citrus notes, I will be dreaming about this for months to come.

At the start of all Twist meals there is a deconstructed plate which is used as a decoration, it is the theme of the room, the look of the plates are recreated on the wall. At the end of the meal we were all given signed copies of the plates, mine was numbered 40/50, apparently when you drop almost 4K or three people you get the plate as a gift, its a good symbol of the deconstructed dishes ;-)

Twist is the real deal. This is my third meal there, and I anticipate many more. I prefer Twist over Robuchon (it's closest "competitor" in Vegas), it is the most palate challenging yet whimsical dining experience I have ever experienced. A++

Ate at Andre's for the first time last night, had a 1966 Chatau Biron that was outstanding, body held up for a good 40 minutes before beginning to loose it's structure. The food was old-school fabulous, it's truly fabulous and honest fine dining but it is ideL for people whose pallets are stuck in the past. I would not recomend it for the price, but I would advise going there for the stellar wine list at fantastic prices. The second floor ciguar bar is something I will surely return for, I was blown away by the selection of Calvados. I predict that will be a big meeting spot for me during the WSOP.

A bunch of friends are planning on eating at Mundo this week, I've heard good things about the nuveo Latin/modern Mexican quisine, can any make any recommendations? It is located across from the Smith Center, I side the World Market Center. And if your name happens to be Jay, I can assure you that you won't need a gun. (not so inside joke).

I guess I ran bad at Milo's this week for lunch. The Bread was burnt, the chicken was overcooked and the service was painfully slow.

Jaleo and lotus are still the 1-2 punch of my culinary dreams.

India palace was underwhelming.
