Too far to walk in the heat. There is a free shuttle that runs from Ballys or you can cab it. If you cab it tell them to drop you off at te back entrance. It's a lot closer to the wsop venues.

you could walk, but just cab it imo. I like walking back at night though just because after a long day of just sitting on your ass and the fact that it's usually cooled down by then outside it's a decent walk.

I'm 40 and out of shape and made the walk from Caesars to Rio in June 2 years ago. I won't ever do it again and don't recommend it, but it wasn't awful. There's just no reason to do it. Its not a pleasant stroll, takes about 25-40 minutes and you have to get pretty close too traffic at times.

There is a FREE shuttle that runs constantly from Rio to Ballys and another one that runs from Rio to Harrahs. Only problem is that I think it stops around 1am, so at that point you need to take a cab.

Looking down from my 30th floor Rio suite I see a steady stream of pedestrians braving first the train bridge and then the I-15 over pass.

At 1.1 miles walk according to google or approximately 21 minutes it's guaranteed to leave you sweaty, but it's perfectly safe & doable.

4 years ago from when I had lost my last dollar on the trip (last day) and didn't want to pay the ATM fees for just one more day of action, I figure **** it I'll go see what the WSOP fuss is all about. I walked under the sun in about 150 thousand degrees. And then it was another long walk inside once you get in the Rio, but not as unpleasant since the A/C was running. Never again!

Also, the WSOP ME is a lot more boring than what they show on TV. It was 3 tables remaining.

Featured table. One min raise, folds around, the BTN, calls. Blinds fold.

Flop middle cards, check check.

Turn brick, check check.

River brick, check check.

AK vs 22. Deuces win the pot.

After sunset, it's doable.

Otherwise, take the Bally's or Harrah's shuttle.

Walked from Caesars to the Rio about 20 years ago in August; I was sick when I arrived. I said never again.

Nobody wants to sit by your sweatty stinky ass at the table after that walk, so cab or shuttle it.

Everything on/around the strip is further away than it looks. I compare it to when you go to the beach, set up your towel etc, and decide to walk to the pier and back.

It's incredibly unlikely that you'll get robbed by a cab driver. If you DO get robbed by a cab driver, there's no way you could have prevented it by "watching out" for something. So don't worry about it.

(You'd be more likely to get robbed while walking from the Strip to Rio, although I don't think that's very likely either.)

If you know where to walk it's easy walking from the Rio to the Strip.

Coming from where the WSOP is, go to the parking lot right outside where the WSOP is. Do not walk into the casino. Just go straight to the parking lot, the non-covered one.

Walk in the parking lot towards Twain Avenue. You're heading north while inside the parking lot the entire time. You can even go diagonal in the North East direction while inside the parking lot. Once you're out in the street walk along Twain towards the Strip, towards Caesar's.

Keep walking along Twain. You'll see the 15 Freeway over pass. Walk along Twain underneath the Freeway. The Freeway will get you lots of shade.

Then once you're past the Freeway turn right on Frank Sinatra Drive. You will continue to walking in the freeway's shade but this time you're parallel it. Its a very short from this point to a small road called Jay Sarno Way. And cross the street into it. The name of this road really does not matter. There's a lot of signs pointing to the Caesar's parking lot. Just keep walking until you get to the valet parking for the Forum Shoppes, and then just enter the Forum Shops.

That's it. Easy.

During non-summer time the walk from strip to off strip rio, motel 6 or convention center is a nice walk. But during summer Hell No.

I've done this walk a number of times during the day. It's really not that hot or difficult - but then again I'm pretty fit and healthy. May not be a pleasant walk but if you're going to the strip when it's busy the traffic is often going to make it longer to take a taxi. I wouldn't do it at night, and I wouldn't do it with significant amounts of cash on me.

tell the sweaty stinky dude to lose some weight, perhaps start by walking some of the time, free shuttles are part of the problem

Dry heat, so not much sweating.

Walking in the heat is no fun, but not super bad if you are in shape. There are just not that many reasons to do it.

OP--

I've done this walk a whole bunch of times. Never had a problem--but I like walking.

That said, the sidewalk is uncomfortably close to fast and crazy traffic for a stretch. So be careful.

All my best,
