I don’t stay super sober in Vegas. Memory gets spotty

Me too. I was fairly sober when I ate at Picasso, and was happy that I was. I remember it all well.

I was not very sober at Bazaar Meat, and sadly I can't remember the tasting menu hardly at all.

Red Plate - Probably my favorite Cantonese banquet style Chinese in Las Vegas. Service is great, dishes modern but (in non-qualified opinion) respectful to "authenticity" and comparable to restaurants I've been to in HK/China. Really going the extra mile in doing things like using aged brisket in beef offal soup.

Brezza - Amazing menu. Made for Resorts World (abalone crudo, pekin duck) $30 corkage is also very reasonable for strip

Al Solito Posto - An extension of James Tree of Esthers Kitchen. Really goes the extra mile in making it feel like an elevated Italian American spot in Tivoli where Karens dress to impress. Weird touches like servers / FOH asking everyone what their first name is and going out of their way to refer to that person by their name, but I appreciate it

Kassi Beach House - Loud loud, food is better than I expected. Mezze is creative and all super tasty. Wine half off on Mondays

Toridokoro Raku - Been here many times and had my first bad experience. They're really understaffed and it shows. Two waitresses running their asses off the whole time with no time to breathe. Waited 20 minutes for drinks after having sat down and ordered, got my iced tea hot. Didn't get amuse that always comes with the meal after this. Waited 15 minutes with no food before being asked if I wanted to order anything else so I passed on dessert

Anyone gone to Kame recently?
Was planning on Kabuto, but they aren’t open the night I needed a sushi fix.

Does Picasso have a vegetarian menu? Looking for a pre show meal at Bellagio in a few weeks.

Can someone give thoughts on the current state of Prime at Bellagio? We've avoided it in recent years assuming it had gone downhill. But this trip our traveling companions picked Prime and its their turn to pay so...

I'm quite sure it will be good. I just want it to be great. For comparison, our current favorite steakhouse in Las Vegas is Outback. (Just seeing if you were paying attention. It's SW.)

Just wondering what to expect here. They're good company and it will be a great time regardless. We've reserved the first (5pm) seating because we're going to a 7pm show so I expect we'll get a great spot on the patio too.

I'm going to Vegas next month and was going to post in the casual dining thread. Is this the Chica that is in the Venetian? Any other reviews? It looks really good for brunch or dinner.

I had it earmarked for our trip, but it's listed as temporarily closed. I couldn't find an article stating why or how long.

Sushi Samba - Went for brunch and had a mediocre experience. Feijoada was under reduced which left the whole thing feeling loose and under seasoned rather than hardy. Pastries pretty weak. Cookie was cold and thin yet lacked crispness. Yucca was good. French toast was good if extra. Partner did not like her breakfast sandwich

Hakkasan - good, I think a tier below Mott 32 and Red Plate. If you want to bundle Wing Lei with these restaurants below Wing Lei as well

King Crab spring rolls excessively salty, sweet chili sauce it was paired with did nothing to alleviate that. Wagyu scallion pancake was too fatty and salty, chili sauce didn’t add enough acidity. Scallion pancake is a grease ladened thing on its own. I was curious to see how they would balance a5 wagyu with it. They dotted it with two different aiolis. I felt sort of gross by the time I finished

Thought everything else was great and fun. Vegetarian dumplings were a highlight showing a lot of skill and attention to texture

Went to X-pot at Venetian. Bit showy for my taste, horrid value (for strip nothing out of the ordinary) and service was a bit slow at times, but great that it’s there and it was packed.

Being able to have dry aged a5 wagyu alongside duck feet and beef tripe is something I’d happily pay for. I think if I go again I’d ask if they could slice it like a steak rather than thin slices and eat a $x,xxx pp bill. Nowhere I know of on strip dry ages their a5 but if anyone knows of anywhere please post. I never feel the need to order A5 over an aged steak so might be time to spew a bit

Chica is closed. Yardbird, noodle bar, Delmonico didn’t disappoint. Barry’s was great at circa even if the waiter was a little much. Even got a dinner in at Raku, which was great. Had to miss a dinner at lamaii which everyone loved

I’m sure this has been answered many times but what’s the consensus choice for best steakhouse on-Strip? Coming for a couples trip (6 people) in November and we want to do one dinner at a steakhouse with talk of Prime and Bazaar Meat but most of the group don’t have strong views other than yes, we need to go to a steakhouse.

While there’s probably no consensus choice for best steakhouse, there might be consensus that it’s not Prime.

I think they majority of people would agree that SW and Cut are among the top 3 (or at least top 5) steakhouses though. Bazaar Meats is a totally different concept and definitely a great experience for groups. I’d recommend checking out their menu which has a section called “from the fire pit” (or something like that). If you don’t think your group would enjoy doing that, I’d recommend Cut/SW. Can’t go wrong with those two.

Thanks Madlex, that’s quite helpful.

Bazaar meat is great but it’s at Sahara, which isn’t great

Cut/SW/Delmonico are great imho

I had dinner @ Barry’s last night and I’m just a massive fan of the vibe there and really the whole property. Highly recommend. But I did bink a 27k progressive killing time playing 3 card poker a few weeks ago so I might be biased. :-D

Ha thanks yeah. Super -ev but was just having a couple beers & killing time. Now Derek Stevens is my new favorite person. But in all seriousness I really like circa, and the steakhouse has a great vibe. Food was v good. Our server explained dishes to me like I was some yokel who had never eaten out before, and my dinner companions thought it was hilarious when the guy recommended the gnocchi (no-key) and told me they are these little potato dumplings… But, we all understand the challenges in this hiring environment, and sometimes the best you can do is pick someone up from the nearest Red Lobster.

Ha never hit a jackpot at his places but Derek Stevens is my favorite Vegas person. Guy hangs out in his places, has done a lot for downtown, started his own book, still has some VP, only place that still comps my low roller ass.

A little surprised about the servers at Barry’s. Andiamo at the D had these old school servers that knew there stuff. Figured Derek might of relocated those guys from Detroit.

My experience with waitstaff at Barry’s was a bit too enthusiastic maybe. I haven’t been to a strip steakhouse in years but think it would easily rival those.

Went to Osaka Sunset which took over Mordeo (rip) Cocktails and wine are pretty pricy but it’s a vibe there and everything I ate was really good. Way different menu from a typical Chinatown or strip izakaya. Will be back

I'll be in Vegas solo for a few days midweek in a few weeks. I'm looking for tasting menus open on Tuesday / Wednesday (looks like most places are still closed those days) that are sufficiently lighted to read a magazine (important for a solo diner).

I booked Morimoto for Tuesday and Michael Mina for Wednesday.

Thoughts? Alternatives?

Thanks!

Coming with the family for Xmas. Unfortunately, some places have no availability (Robuchon, Esther's). What are your thoughts on Jing in Summerlin and Triple George downtown, just for something different?

What dates are you looking for ? Christmas is generally a pretty slow period in Las Vegas.
