Not sure if it's been mentioned, but The Chef Show on Netflix has an episode at CUT. If you like the show or the restaurant, then I'd recommend checking it out.

Tried SW the other week. Was pretty disappointed by the steak.

Cut>Sw

The rugby-ball-sized parmesan-cheese-bread loaf (included) was darn good.

Crab cake excellent.

Get the rib steak instead of filet, flavor is better.

Best places for a takeout birthday dinner?

Greetings and Salutations.

Heading out mid-September and wondering whether anyone has recent experience with the usual steak places. We've been to Cut a number of times, great, but time to mix it up. Right now we have a reservation at Prime at Bellagio but the recent reviews are mixed (some rave about it, some were disappointed). Considering SW at the Wynn.

Any insights based on recent experience in the Covid era are appreciated.

I'm very sad this thread isn't active anymore.

So I'll share some positive recent experiences here.

I would say all these places were adequality safe for covid... but truthfully I pay little attention and don't care much.

Yellowtail @ Bellagio I feel significantly improved in terms of quality. All the menu items are basically tapas even the ones that say entree or main dish but the braised short rib was very good.

Fwiw if anyone has ever been to Tulum or Cancun there is a restuarent called Tora there its a very good copy of nobu/maybe better? Braised short rib there is unreal good.

All menus have been reduced during covid and all places need a reservation basically but can book of your phone opentable.

Also some restuarents seem to have moved to "sevenrooms" reservation system, you can't go to sevenrooms to make a reservation though you have to have the direct link or google las vegas seven rooms carbone for example to make a reseravtion.

Ate Guy Savoy recently, fwiw I think everyone should try Guy Savoy once and personally I order A La carte as a picky eater and they don't shame me for ordering two entrees as an American. It's one of the best dining experiences though, the only other place comparable in terms of service would be like Michaels Gourmet room or Joel Robochun preclosure.

Ate @ Cut @ the Venetian/Palazzo few times recently steaks haven't been great, everything else good though.

Majordomo meat and fish is showers the large beef short rib for $200 is basically tasteless and just greasy.

So what ? "basically tasteless and just greasy" is what built Las Vegas.

To the CUT poster above, give Bazaar Meat a try. It's my new favorite, tied with CUT. Just a great experience.

There's been rumors about that but AFAIK the official messaging from MGM still is that both Robuchon and L'Atelier will reopen when business is back.

Based on my limited personal experience, both restaurants are mostly frequented by people who don't personally pay for their meal. Not too different from several other high end Strip restaurants. Basically everything that's not romantic (like Picasso) has a pretty high percentage of customers who dine on a company account. Without conventions and regular business travel, the market is probably still too small for them to reopen.

Thanks. Hmmm, whenever we have eaten at JR, it was always couples and families.

I have two nights of all I can eat unlimited tabs at any Wolfgang Puck restaurants in Las Vegas. I eat almost all meat and do not drink. My date likes a good wine and is an omnivore. Cut twice or what would you recommend. Thank you in advance

Go wild at cut one night and your date will love the atmosphere at spago.

Guy Savoy is miles ahead of Partage but also atleast double the price. I had a mediocre to bad experience at Partage both times I've been (also went to a Partage / Kaiseki Yuzu collab dinner that I thought was really weak). It's a step up from anywhere that attempts to do a cut above French bistro food offstrip, but that says almost nothing. It's not justified in its price tag with the quality of ingredients / consistently finding errors in cooking technique and presentation (a couple years ago their tasting menu was shy of $100 and had choice usda beef for example)

I like CUT and Guy Savoy so I'd go with one of those

had the top level tasting menu at kame omakase the other day $350 excluding drinks.

With drinks service etc, about $600 a head.

Had it before, just epic, though I felt some things, particularly the hairy crab portions had become a fair bit smaller. Fantastic meal though...

So we went to partage and I really enjoyed it- also went to Sparrow for my 3rd time and love it there but the server said Bizarre meats is a MUST, she said one of the best meals she has ever had, thoughts?

that made me laugh out loud.

Re: Partage and Guy Savoy, they both call themselves French fine dining but that’s probably the only similarity. According to their current menu, Partage has a 5 course tasting offering for $85. That’s roughly the price for a single appetizer at Guy Savoy.

With Joel Robuchon closed (potentially for good), Guy Savoy is probably the #1 French restaurant in town in terms of quality and price. Not really fair to compare that to another restaurant that’s all the way on the other end of the price spectrum.

Sparrow and Wolf is one of my favorite restaurants in town for sure. Went this week and they doled out some vodka + beetroot shots on the house. Always appreciated, though never needed

Bazaar is great, if a bit overpriced considering it's the nut low location on the strip. Despite their name I think they do some of the best vegetable focused dishes in town, definitely get the leeks. If you've got 4+ I'd definitely recommend some of their large format dishes but if not, peruse the tapas and have fun taking $9 bites with your s/o or whoever you're with.

The waitstaff is also super friendly and enthusiastic there. I forgot the somm's name but if you ask for sherry recommendations he'll talk your ear off, give you good recs and maybe some free bites

Agree I’ve had very good experiences at bazaar meats but it’s not an amazing value proposition. I think I TRd my first trip there itt but it was a few years ago. I should probably get this into the cut/delmonico biz dinner rotation more but who schleps up to sahara?

I haven’t been to partage yet, embarrassingly, probably because I just always go to Raku. I’ve wanted to like Sparrow and Wolf but they’ve just missed on my coupla visits.

People I take to Sparrow and Wolf tend to feel the same. Haven’t taken anyone there and have them been super impressed, but I think the amount of effort they put into the food and for the price is almost unrivalled in Vegas to be honest

Between Edo, Sparrow and Wolf, Main St Provisions and Esthers I rarely find reason to eat on strip

I think Bazaar meats gives enough reason with large format stuff like suckling pig and goose. Off strip steak game has also been crippled due to Mordeo closure so I’m due for a trip to CUT but would like to try Bugsy and Meyers or Barrys

Anyone been to either?

It's so weird bc i had an awful first outing to edo also. Haven't been back. I really should because people keep telling me how great it is. I also reviewed my experience there in this thread i think (or casual dining).

I have my first reservation at Main St Provisions this Saturday - we are very excited. Was thinking about staying downtown but Circa was like $359 or something so I will need to go play there and get offers. Love Esthers (was lukewarm on Al Solito Posto though).

Never been to Mordeo - can you tell fine dining went to **** when we had kids? lol Most recent 'new' steakhouses i've been to are Bavette's and Cleaver.
