(You did mention the wife might shoot you if you went to Joel Rouchon without her.)
I didn't know old guys had a sense of humor.

I ate at Rose Rabbit Lie last night. Took the wife and honestly, we loved it.

Vibe was cool and fun and the entertainment was vg, but I was surprised how good the food was - honestly thought it was exceptional

Wifey had Oysters to start. They were small (about half the size of Australian served oysters) but she thought they were top notch. I had foie grad beignets which were also vg.

Mains, she had a sea bass with a chilli soy vinaigrette that looked and tasted great and I had crispy pork belly that was served with green beans and small slices of potato with a chilli spicy just and again it was superb

Dessert we shared a caramel pop corn thing with cream that was light and a little sweet but fine.

She drank Prosecco and I drank temperanillo by the glass and I also had a tequila on the rocks as a ‘cocktail’ to start with. Drinks were (in my opinion and particularly with the current Aus$ exchange rate) very expensive. The wine by the glass was $18.

With tip it came to $300.

Great place for a date or with a group of friends. The crowd was mainly 30s and 40s.

The entertainment was great. We were there two hours and saw two cycles of the same four entertainers, a male and female singer - upbeat soul type music and then a brilliant tap dancer and a really good teenage street dancer. Probably 30 mins on 30 mins off.

Unique vibe and offering and with the entertainment and excellent food, I’d highly recommend

Checked out Sinatra at the Encore. Best gnocchi I've ever had. Amazing service too.

Sinatra is A+ for what it is. You pay the Wynn tax, but you know it will be solid and the service will be excellent.

If you are going to pay the Wynn tax, try Mizumi or Wing Lei instead.

Mizumi: get the black cod entree, the yakitori platter appetizer, the Mask dessert.

Wing Lei: get the two entrees (a) curried scallops and (b) pork belly, no dessert needed.

My next trip I shall do both (on different nights of course!)

Planning an upcoming trip with some bros, have space for 1 nice dinner out, and couldn't help but notice this $58 steak + all you can drink deal at Charlie Palmer. Looks amazing, anyone been? Is there anything else I should consider as an alternative? This is an economically diverse group, so getting out the door for something like $80/head rather than the $175ish we'd spend at Cut or SW is a big deal.

I haven't tried Charlie Palmers Cut of the Week deal yet but plan to next trip. If you choose there please review how it was if you get a chance. I've done the Distinctive Dining Deal at Vic and Anthonys a couple times and have left full and impressed both times. Side dishes are served family style and the lobster bisque is extremely good IMO. Here's a link to the menu.

Been going to a different steakhouse every Sunday night past couple weeks.

Quick reviews:

Andiamo last night was awful! Couldn’t believe how bad it was

Vic & Anthony’s amazing, best meal of my life maybe

T-Bones @ Red Rock is underrated

Fleming’s on West Charleston, not impressed

Where to next? I eat at bar and bar needs to have TV for Sunday Night Football

Selfishly I'd love to see a review of Golden Steer. I've been meaning to go there and a quick Yelp search indicates they do indeed have TVs at their bar.

I dunno if you're doing any Strip places but I've eaten and watched football at the bar at Cut many times, and at the risk of being too obvious, that place is great. I've done the same thing at BLT too, but I won't go back except for their happy hour-- the normal priced menu is about as expensive as Cut and not nearly as good.

Might be the wrong place to post, but going to Vegas for CES in January (10th to 19th of), and probably going to Kabuto. If you are in town and would like to join a Swedish degen let me know or drop a pm.

I went to Golden Steer a few years ago. Everything about it is seriously old school, its probably still the same hostess from the 1960s too. They love telling you the old school stories, (the leather in your booth is the same as when Frank was sitting on it, guess that makes me and Frank ass cousins or something).

Food wise its pretty basic, you order broccoli you get some steamed broccoli on a white plate, thats it. Absolutely no frills. I cant particularly recall my steak which I guess means it wasnt particularly amazing or particularly bad.

I wont rehash my issues with CUT again (I hold a grudge) but for me, the best steakhouse in vegas by a country mile is SW, everything else is just an 'also ran'.

Pretty sure that SW bar area has tvs also if thats needed.

Triple George.

It's downtown, half a block south of the Mob Museum.

You're welcome.

Please recommend best anniversary dinner spot. Have Eiffel Restaurant booked but willing to chain. Lakeside at Wynn looks interesting.

If it’s Wynn special occasion I would recommend SW or Costa di Mare. Otherwise it’s the more standard suggestions like Picasso, Sage, etc.

This is the right answer. My wife and I have a fondness for the Eiffel tower, because it was the last place we took my brother and his wife before he got really sick and it was a nice time. Views are nice but the food is.....adequate I suppose. Maybe go there the second night and enjoy the view of the fountains. We had a crap experience at Sage 1 out of 4 times - but I'd still go back because the other 3 were very good. Picasso routinely excellent, as is SW. Cut is great, but maybe a little sterile for a romantic/anniversary type place. I guess I'd toss Sinatra in there in the mix, but it's not quite on the level of the others. (To be fair, they're not trying to be, IMO)

This actually sounds pretty cool, and exactly the type of experience I was looking for out of Golden Steer. I'll try to do a TR when I'm in Vegas in January.

Had a Picasso reservation. Maybe I'll revist that. We are staying at Aria.
