As far as STK goes, based on my experience the music is so loud that you have trouble holding a serious conversation. I really dislike that.
Yeah, I guess I feel like I've eaten at a lot of good to great steakhouses since moving here 8 years ago, & wouldn't really describe any of them as truly pretentious.

I've lost track of how many times the wife and I ate at Stripsteak, but I never found it loud and I have tinnitus which screws with my hearing.

I meant it in a good way, like an upbeat, vibrant atmosphere. Only ate there once, & that was my recollection. Not like annoyingly loud (like it sounds like STK might be).

Then I'd echo what others have said with the CUT recommendation. I wouldn't call it energetic and it's not close, but it's my favorite steakhouse in Vegas as well. And as madlex said, you can wear shorts (so it can't be all the pretentious).

I’ve eaten at Cut and really enjoyed it but that’s not the vibe I’m after.

Yeah it's a great little spot. Wayne Newton lookalike lounge singer, etc. Not a "value" play by any means but it's fun once in awhile. Good place to grab a drink after work, and I've eaten at the bar there a few times solo and with friends.

AOL is rerunning the story about 8 places to eat in Vegas. STK made the list as did L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon.

I would be tempted to go to the latter on my solo trip, but my wife and I have never gone so she might shoot me.

I remember having a very good steak there, but that was like 10 years ago.

How easy would it be to just do a walkup around 5pm during the week for many of these places?

If my preferred dates for Cirque shows are sold out when I get out there, I might use the money budgeted for shows on fine dining instead.

The vast majority of fine dining options on the Strip won’t be super busy even if you come during non-senior dinner time.

But I think a lot of restaurants aren’t even open at 5PM. Late afternoon is not a very common time for fine dining.

What is non-senior dinner time?

What time should I plan on?

Just to be clear, if you’re an early dinner person that will make finding a table even easier during the week. Google will tell you what time a specific restaurant opens. The majority should open between 5 and 6.

I have no idea what the busiest dinner time in Vegas is but I would say probably around 8?

In most other cities during the week it’s probably 7-7:30 but since people on the LV Strip are mostly tourists and business travelers that might shift things a little back.

Even when dining out here, the wife and I eat at 5 or 530. Given the time difference, that time out there would be 7 or 730 here. But I thought if I got adjusted, I could eat around 5 there.

Not sure if it belongs here (or in the casual dining or CET thread), but I was looking to book a diamond dinner at Hell's Kitchen for mid October. Is it normal for them to have very limited reservations (the only available time is 4:30 or 4:45pm)? I have already booked Picasso, Sage, and Zuma with no problems, but Hell's Kitchen seems super busy. I am considering lunch at HK or Nobu for dinner as alternatives. Is this normal for HK and are there any better alternatives?

I see, your memory is foggy, you don't hear very well and the Rio is on the Strip. Plus your wife has homicidal tendencies re dining out choices ....

I'd place the over-under on how many times you've eaten at Stripsteak at 3 ?

Are you saying the Rio is on the strip? Or are you saying I said the Rio is on the strip?

The fact is I mistakenly said the Rio is essentially on one end off the strip. Essentially being the key word. Meaning it isn't directly on the strip and is closest to one end. While, it isn't on the strip, it isn't at one end.

Why do you say my wife has homicidal tendencies regarding dining out?

I can't prove it, but I believe the number of times we have eaten at Stripsteak is five at minimum.

(You did mention the wife might shoot you if you went to Joel Rouchon without her.)
