I chose this steak based on the marbling... The tomahawks were slightly flat looking in terms of fat content. Next time for sure I will get the rib.

Can anyone give a summary of Momofuku? How casual is it, style of meals, recommended items. We have a group of 6 going tomorrow night.

that's the key.
he showed travels through his eyes.
to appreciate the view you need not agree with every scene.
man was a master and every restaurant he turned me on to was amazing...

How weird would it be to go to Joël Robuchon alone?

It’s Vegas, so nothing is really weird. That said, if you want to go for the tasting menu you probably want to bring something to read. It’s not interactive like L’Atelier where you can sit at the counter and watch them work their magic in the kitchen.

I remember somebody told me at Twist they have a selection of books for solo guests so they don’t get bored while waiting for the next course.

Man I remember eating at L'Atelier in Paris several years back. It was an amazing meal and experience. We are headed back to Europe this summer and I'm planning on going again. Only problem I have is we will have two teenagers with us and there's no way they could appreciate the tasting menu. Does anyone have any experience taking older kids with them?

Also, anyone know how the U.S. locations compare to the ones in Paris?

I only know the LV location in the US and think that one is comparable to the Saint-Germain restaurant in Paris. There is a second L’Atelier in Paris that has significantly cheaper options and might be better suited for a family meal.

It’s hard to really compare LV to Paris because even if they provided the exact same experience, the Paris restaurants certainly feel more authentic just because they are in Paris. Kinda like going up the LV Eiffel Tower where you look around and think “wow, they did a really good job on making it look like a perfect copy of the original one, just a little smaller”. But it always feels just like that, a copy.

What if they gave you a buzzer and you could go gamble between courses?

Hmmm. Maybe we will just leave them in the room. lol thanks for the tip on the second location. I’ll take a look.

I kinda love eating at good places alone, I feel like the staff recognize you must really be into the food and usually I get to ask waiter / bartender a bunch of questions and learn how some of the magic happens.

So a guy in our group made reservations for us next weekend at Scotch 80 at the Palms. Anyone got some scoop on the place?

Ate there once and thought it was great. Best bread ever. Great crab cakes. Steak comparable with other top steakhouses. Overpriced obv, but still worth it.

Is there a consensus on Kame v Kabuto?
Is it just a different beast?

Wednesday night after work at Lotus again for me and my gal. We love sitting at the bar and eating there. So good...had the Drunken Noodles and we shared some fish cakes and mango coconut sticky rice.

Have you given Lamaii a shot yet?
Or were you always a fan of Lotus over Chada?

I have not...we preferred Lotus because they had a lot more veggie dishes for my GF. But I loved Chada, too.

went to kabuto last week. would not recommend.

location is pretty ghetto and the parking situation is very bad.
service was uninspired. she brought out food, recited her lines, and was otherwise not much use.
the portions were the smallest of any sushi place i'd been to, including other high-end places.
the dishes are either forgettable or oddly composed FPS.
and the food itself is not exceptional.

Had some TR credits to use so decided to hit Ruth's Chris when I stayed at Harrahs a couple weeks ago. Sat at the bar.

Had a couple Manhattans that were good, pretty straightforward. Both bartenders that were working were friendly and I ended up BS'ing with them a fair bit.

Started with lobster bisque, was really, really good although there was a service mix-up and it took a while to come out.

Went with 11oz filet, decided to go oscar and got it med rare. Steak was a touch overcooked which I attribute to maybe the thicker filet cut but it was still very flavorful and really good. Also got a side of Au Gratin potatoes which I liked quite a bit as well. Closed with bread pudding with a Chambord sauce that was excellent and maybe the highlight of the meal.

Tab ended up being $150 after using $30 comp dollars. I would maybe go again, but Delmonico, Cut and SW are a level ahead.

Just curiously have you ever had crab cakes in Baltimore? Growing up there I am sort of allergic to crab cakes outside of Maryland, but would be really interested if a place has a can’t miss version.

Cut is the best for steak. Wish they would move out of Adelson land so I could go back.

Have had crab cakes many times, in Maryland, including Baltimore.

I tried Crab Corner a few times years ago, which was pretty good for crabs, and the usual accompaniments, including NattyBo . Did not try the crab cakes, just the crabs.

I saw today they have a different location on Rainbow. Anyone try it recently ?
