Triple George does have a cool ambiance, but I thought the food was awful. I've only been there for lunch though. Lobster salad sandwich was 95% bun. Nothing else my table ordered looked particularly good. Maybe dinner is different though.

Triple George is a joke. I gave them a chance three times. Service is slow as hell even when they're completely dead. You can tell the majority of the staff hate working there.

I believe Triple George has a pretty decent happy hour though. Haven’t had any of the food, just cheap drinks at their bar which I like.

Just wanted to say a quick thanks to the forum for putting Kabuto on my radar. Had wanted to go since first reading about it here ages ago and finally did this week. It did not disappoint! We did the Omakase menu and sat at the bar and really enjoyed it.

This, I’m not a local but had some fantastic cocktails here a few years back. Bar staff was very friendly. Had some nice oysters and a few other app dishes at the bar. Went like three or four days in a one week trip with wife since we liked it so much.

Is Kabuto really serving fresh bluefin tuna from Spain? I thought in the Mediterranean Sea they were only allowed to fish for that for a very limited time in late Spring to save it from extinction? I remember seeing a documentary about Atlantic bluefin tuna where they said population declined by 95% over the last 40 years because of the Japanese craze about it.

all bluefin tuna is on the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch 'avoid' list, doesn't matter if wild or farmed.

Anyone have recommendations for best restaurants to go solo? I don’t care about eating alone but also don’t want a meal that will take 3 hours. Fine with lunch or dinner, and $ not really a concern.

Since its a pretty open ended question I would just go with my three favorite restaurants to eat solo at the bar: Carbone, Carnevino, and Delmonico. If location is important, I would say that most restaurants at Aria, Cosmo, and Venetian all tend to be good options to eat at the bar solo and that Bellagio restaurants tend to be the worst or in a lot of cases not an option at all.

yakkers,

If you want fine dining, L'Atelier Robuchon is an amazing place to eat solo. On the longer side, but easily done under two hours, and probably can be done fine in 90 minutes. They adjust pacing to you.

As people have mentioned, pretty much all the nice steak places are great to eat at the bar.

Thank you guys for the suggestions. Ended up doing Carbone and thought the food (spicy penne vodka and veal parm) and service were excellent.

What's the LVL-recommended-go-to fine-dining option at Bellagio, not including Picasso?

Mina vs. Prime vs. Le Cirque? (or others...Lago?)

Going to "O" that night at 7 pm so looking for an early fine dining experience at Bellagio. I've done the pre-show menu at Michael Mina before but the others in my party have not.

I'd stick with Mina. Prime is lousy, Le Cirque (where I've never been) has never seemed inspiring in any way. Don't know about Lago but it ain't fine dining. It does, however, seem like the place that would get you in and out the fastest.

Note that Spago is opening soon, don't know if it will be there when you are. Spago is a solid choice for that kind of thing.

Would it be weird to do Kabuto solo?

Went to CUT for last night of bachelor party this weekend. Had 8:15 reservation, ended up getting seated between 8:45 and 9:00 because previous party was still seated which wasn't really a big deal at all. Was as excellent as the thread has described.

Went with the 35 day dry aged New York. Shared an abundance of sides with the table of 9. Great service, cocktails and food. Can't wait to go back.

Is CUT the steakhouse to go to if you’re only picking one? I’ve been to Delmonicos and SW, but that was 2007-09 time period, and I’ve found a new level of love for steak.

My new go-to steak is a Tomahawk cut fwiw.

Just did Delmonico this weekend with friends and it was great. Had bone-in ribeye and was fabulous. If it matters I asked jimmy and he recommended it over Cut.

Haven't been to Delmonico, I would assume you can't go wrong at either. May come down to what type of ambiance you prefer. CUT was pretty modern/contemporary I think which we really liked. We are early 30's.

If you're comparing Cut to either of those or a handful of other top steakhouses, I don't think it will ever land more than like 60/40 in favor of one over another. Cut at least has more variety.

I've done Kabuto both solo and with others. I actually thought it wasn't nearly as good solo as busier/larger places. But the food is so awesome I wouldn't recommend that you avoid it just because you were alone. But when I'm dining solo I like to be anonymous and independent, and if you are between two other couples at the small bar it might be weird. Or not, it's up to your personality. But I was less comfortable there solo than I was at Cut or other fine dining places.

Was wondering why I couldn’t book a table at Spago in the Forum Shoppes recently. Seemed weird that it would just close, so I’m glad to hear it’s just moving. Underrated spot
