What's the current opinion of Emeril's Fish House at MGM? Some friends are looking for a pre-show (10pm) dinner (so around 8?) at MGM so they can walk from restaurant to show. Last opinion I saw in here was from around 2012. They aren't looking for fine dining, just a good meal for 5-8 40 something's. And if there's a bar recommendation to visit between dinner and show they would be interested in that too.

Sorry I'm not more specific. I asked for preferences or pricepointw and got little.

Urelated. How out of place would I appear at L'ateliar bar solo in khakis and a golf shirt?

Going to be in town oct 26-30 with the gf, who has never been to vegas before. Planning to go to have 2 fancier dinners (Picasso and CUT), a night with the famous Chada before Penn and Teller (Gobbo, if you read this I'm just going to tell them to give me what you get), and a day of mostly relaxing. Any suggestions for pre or post dinner drinks, maybe something overlooking the strip or otherwise impressive?

Sounds good. Would recommend Delmonico or CarneVino instead of Cut. Would recommend getting a couples massage at Zen Foot Spa & Massage. Super cheap and good. 75 minutes for like $60.

Chandelier bar is awesome too, no view though. If you want good cocktails and are off strip, try herbs and rye.

If you are going for the view, SkyLounge at Stratosphere is hard to beat.

Gobbo - why Delmonico's over Cut? I seem to end up at Cut frequently, and the only time I hit Delmonico's was right after 9/11 - my wife and I literally had the entire place to ourselves for an hour. I'm going to be taking my brother to dinner Sunday, should we give Delmonico's a try?

(I run horrible at Carnevino and have sworn the place off)

I still like this restaurant and i love Emeril's in NOLA. Its missong the ambiance but as i only get to down to new orleans once or twice a year, it is a good fix.

Cut is far more expensive and way more fine-dining than a traditional steakhouse feel, which I think Delmonico nails. The service is less stuffy and has all the sides that I think are more classic. I think Delmonico just overall has a way better feel.

Is Cut really that more expensive than Delmonico? I remember being pleasantly surprised to see that deserts at Demonico are only $11 compared to ~$15 basically everywhere else, but other than that I didn't think there was a huge difference. My go-to appetizer steak tartare is in the $25 neighborhood at both places and steaks are around $60 (unless you go Wagyu). Maybe the sides are cheaper at Delmonico?

I totally agree that Delmonico has a very traditional warm steakhouse feel while Cut is a colder fine-dining atmosphere.

And after you can take a 15 minute walk to Cafe du Monde to get some beignets

For a fraction of the cost. I think dishes at Emeril's in Vegas are something like 50% more expensive than at his very reasonably priced NOLA location?

Since going to Louisiana 2-3 times a year now anyway, I stopped going to seafood places in Vegas unless somebody else really wants to.

If you want to see another show and neither of you are easily offended (well, if you can't be offended at all), go see Absinthe.

For unique steakhouse-Bazaar Meat at SLS. This will not be to everyone's taste, but if you can appreciate "aged on the hoof" meat, this place is outstanding. The ribeye from the 8-10 year old Holstein that I had there was pretty amazing--very intense beef flavor-again probably not for everyone. And to think, we'd slaughter used up milk cows for hamburger when I was a kid.

LeGros: bazaar meat is excellent!

Hobbes: I’ve been to both Del and Cut many times. Both are excellent. IMO Cut has better food, Delmonico better service. Always happy to go to either, but I’d choose CUT first for a date and Delmonico first for a group dinner. Prices feel about the same.

Interesting take. I've always thought the service at Cut was excellent. Maybe I run as good there as I run bad at Carnevino.

We hit Delmonico's and it was excellent, both food and service. Bit of a more old fashioned feeling than Cut, but I'm old so I enjoyed it.

Gobbo, have you been to Bavette's Steakhouse & Bar? If you have, what are your thoughts?
