My favorites at pizza rock are the New Yorker with the dollops of ricotta, and the Michigan Ave which is a super thin cracker crust pepperoni. Last time I was there though I tried the Detroit red top and it was excellent!

This.

Except when you go to the casual place, still spend the $100/person surprise buying randoms their food.

GOAT trip to In n Out after canceling at a nice steakhouse is everyone in the party handing the cashier a hundo and telling him to just apply up to $20 (to prevent asshats from being greedy) to all of the orders after yours until it runs out. Or just tell them to charge you for 100 milkshakes and ask them to give a free milkshake to the next 100 people, etc.

Pretty sweet to hang out eating your food and anonymously watching people getting free food and their reactions. Guarantee you'll have more fun doing this than trying to enjoy nice food with a hangover and you'll also have a great story to reminisce about with friends later on. Unlike a decent meal while wasted, you will remember this experience. And you'll make a bunch of people happy.

Where is a good place to get organ meats like liver, kidney and brain, other than the tunnels?

Thanks

Dont think anywhere serves brain and I cant think of a spot that serves kidney but Aburiya Raku has many organ meats under their robata section.

So, I suppose JG is a decent choice to try out? No major complaints?

No major complaints, but I think it is the most bland boring steakhouse in town. Everything is fine, from the decor to service, to sides, to steak, but I would absolutely not got back there again. There are so many better options considering CUT probably has the best pure steak, Carnevino has the best pasta appetizers in town and has the super aged steaks, Delmonico i love their apps and sides, as well as a great bourbon list. Hell I would even put places like Strip House or Gordan Ramsay Steak above JG as an overall experience.

I put JG well ahead of Carnevino and Delmonico. A lot of it is personal preference. I found the Waygu Beef Carpaccio at JG one of the best apps I've had anywhere in Vegas. Our steak was also killer. I was prepared to hate JG as a CUT loyalist, but it was more impressive than expected.

Have been to Strip House multiple times because of Planet Hollywood food credit and always liked the place. That said, I would say it's a level below JG. But I agree with you that JG feels kind of boring compared to the other places you listed. It's a 'been there, done that' feeling, even though I can't pinpoint why exactly.

This was on my radar this summer but I didn't get a chance to try. Will try next year for sure.

Leaving for Vegas tomorrow after work.

Is it too late to make reso at Kabuto you think and would they seat someone solo? What is the best sushi experience in Vegas now ?

You might get a single seat at the bar at Kabuto, definitely worth calling. They also have a waitlist so they'll call you if a spot opens up.
Best sushi is between there and Yui.

Was referred to this thread, anyone have rec for best fine dining place at <$150 a person? Would love to try something with some molecular gastronomy type stuff, but doubt there is anything at that price?

$150 for food, $150 for food & drinks or $150 for food, drinks, tax & tip?

Not huge drinking so let's say food + 1 drink

Picasso would be right around that number including a drink, but that might not really fit into the molecular category.

Twist and e by Jose Andres are both a little more expensive, closer to $200 including a drink. But Jaleo is cheaper and has at least some items that would fit the bill. L'Atelier had some items on the menu that I would consider molecularly, but nothing close to what Ferran Adria did at El Bulli.

Haven't been to Rose.Rabbit.Lie but from what I've heard it might be an option?

Anyone had dinner at Picasso solo? I'm under the impression they don't have a bar.

I have. No bar - they put me right next to the fountain - flirted with the sommelier and drank free most of the night. One of the best meals I've had in Vegas.

So I'm going to Vegas for a few days next week. Here are the breakfast/dinner plans - I'd like your thoughts. For the dinners I picked all new places since I didn't want any repeats... Bouchon and Hash House are old favorites.

I left out lunch since we're likely to wing it on those options.

Day 1: Peppermill/Rao's
Day 2: Bouchon/Joël Robuchon
Day 3: Hash House/Kabuto

Thanks in advance!

They have a bar, but I don't know if they serve dinner there. Just call and ask.

I called them up maybe two years ago and they said no to dinner at the bar, hope it has changed though.

Thankfully it is one of the very few nice restaurants in Vegas that doesn't encourage getting a great meal at the bar. Finally found time to go to the bar at Carbone, really can't say enough great things about that place other than the prices even for the strip are pretty crazy.

Their veal parm for 64 dollars, while good certainly wasn't worth the price. Place was amazing and their receipt didn't itemize so it was a nice business meal.
