That's a kitchen where you can just tell them what kind of a diner you are and have them build you a menu. But I always recommend the seasonal tasting if it's not out of your price range. I've also had success going like 4 and 5 course and just telling them I like adventurous dining and letting them take it from there. If you have someone dining with you you can get ten different plates that way and sample each others'. I can't say enough good about their staff either. They're almost always packed but never seem rushed. And their servers are super knowledgeable. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

For me, it was SW at Wynn. THE best steak I've ever had in LV. Granted, it was my 10th anniversary, they put on the dog for us, and it was just a great evening.

One thing to consider.....I am a NY sirloin strip guy. And this really matters when asking about what is the best steak joint. I feel there are some that are better for a NY strip, others for a rib eye, still others for perhaps a porterhouse or filet.

I've heard some connoisseurs remark that the strip is great at V and Anthony's, but the rib eye was not worthy, etc etc.

Just goes to show how food and opinions vary. Granted it was six years ago, but SW was by far the worst Steak and most over priced I've ever had, anywhere. I refuse to go back there on our annual march madness trip from this experience alone.

I will say that it's good to hear someone loved it though. Who knows, maybe I'll open up to it again.

For me SW is close behind CUT, but I've only been to SW once and CUT multiple times.

The food at CUT has never been a problem for me. It's the fountain show that's really bad.

-wanted to try a "local" joint for old school Vegas steakhouse vibe. Cool atmosphere but the food was just OK. Glad I did it but not worth the special trip off strip

4. Mastro's Ocean Club
-food was a little better than golden steer but the mall vibe killed it for me. Could have been anywhere. Seafood tower and impressive presentation

3. Circus Circus
-might be 2 if it weren't in circus circus but that is a legit drawback. It's just a sad place to go solid service and vittles. This is old school vibe

2. Hugo's
Very similar to Circus Circus but downtown > north strip. The salad made table side was legit

1. Cut
Just the best. Only steakhouse on list I've gone multiple times because you know it delivers. Went on recommendation from this thread 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

I feel like there is a huge gap between your 1 and 2, and you have more experiences in the old school category of steakhouse. Nothing wrong with that at all, but as you've already found there's a big difference in quality when you go upper-tier rather than classic old school. So from that upper-tier, the ones that stand out to me are SW, Country Club, Jean-Georges, StripSteak. I'm not a Delmonico fan (although I believe it deserves another shot), and I'm done with Prime for life.

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for a fun business dinner with a private room for 40-50 people? We'd like to keep it around $50 per head if possible, but a little more is OK (less is great). Something eclectic is best just to keep people happy (no sushi, Thai, etc., unfortunately). Conference is at Monte Carlo, so close to that area is preferred. Dinner is Feb. 9.
Thanks!

Musashi, call them now to see if they can give you the restaurant. Ask for the teppanyaki area.

Gobbo,

I'm gonna guess that falls under the "no sushi, Thai, etc" umbrella.

Well you might want to ask in the casual dining thread instead of the fine dining thread then.

I got the tasting which was 9 courses

Every dish was phenomenal but favorites were the crab, truffle, sea bass and quail. Service was amazing as well.

I know this shouldn't be an issue at a place like this, but how long did it take from seating to check?

When I went it was just under 3 hours, both of us had tasting menus.

They have a few different meal options at l'atelier. That seasonal is the best imo and I think last time I was there in July it was 185. Somewhere around there.

It was $188 for L'Atelier. Took about 2.5-3 hours, had an 8:45 reservation. Both myself and friend did the tasting and ordered it as soon as we sat.

Went to Bouchon tonight, my God... truffle gnudi was insane. Also got a seafood tower and knocked that off the bucket list. And leg of lamb which was so rich.

I have pictures but can't them to upload, will post when I'm home.

Gonna be out there for a week in a couple months. Definitely eating again at Picasso and JG Steakhouse. Maybe do the 'regular' Robuchon, not L'atelier. Although you never know.

What other high-end places are worth checking out, esp newer ones? I have been out to Vegas about 30x so I am familiar with most of the standbys. Staying off the strip.
