I'm a classic burger guy myself, with banana peppers. They also have pretty decent fries.

I really haven't gotten out as much as I should have while I've been here, but trying to change that now, but Fuddruckers is always, and most likely, will stay a go to for me.

Which are best? Beef? Buffalo? Elk?

Upon moving to LV last year, Kilroy's quickly became my favorite place for burgers. Unfortunately, they closed their kitchen a few months ago. Now when I'm in the mood for a burger and fries, I usually hit Islands on Charleston across from Red Rock. Not only are the accompanying fries good, their served AYCE.

well you don't have to really disagree w/ sumn, when someone says sumn seems a weak pt. anyhow, i'll stick by my inclination mostly for sake of lacking quantity. All cities I've lived in Indian is more plentiful. I shall try your Mint suggestion. Bollywood Grill is a ways away from me @ 215/trop, but i'll keep in mind. I should get some of my desi friends to open up a restaurant near here, heh. Then again seen all sorts of restaurants fail out here.

just tried the Firefly on W. Sahara with my girlfriend. i'd never been to a firefly before so i didn't really know what to expect. i knew it was tapas but that's it.

overall, wasn't too bad. service wasn't over-the-top great. we got the calamari (good), tuna tartare (std) smoked salmon toasts (whatever sauce they used made it bad despite it being composed of good / fresh ingredients), and the filet sliders (good). also got the green apple sorbet (frozen sugar water.. i loved, she hated) and passion fruit cheesecakes (great)

it was a little loud and lots of people we're dressed up in skirts, etc which gave it a clubby atmosphere. we'll probably go back again since there's a ton of variety in the food.

Five Guys recently opened their first area location in Henderson, but another one is scheduled to open closer to the Strip in the Outlet mall on LV Blvd about 3 miles south of Mandalay Bay.

ate at zine (Palazzo), milos (cosmo), bouchon (venetian), and otto's (venetian).

Zine was fantastic, really recommend it highly to anyone looking for great Chinese food. The mongolian beef and cubed steak is fantastic, and get the bok choy fried with garlic sauce (not bowl).

Milo's $20 lunch simulates a fine dining experience, with patio dining and waiters tending to you constantly. I would upgrade the entree to the lobster pasta.

Bouchon was pleasant experience, especially if you dine on the patio where you can see the fountain and some of the pool. The service isn't as great as the two aforementioned places, but still isn't anything to be too upset about. The French Toast is highly recommended by most people, but was too sweet and flavorful for my taste.

Ottos had great salad, but the dishes are made rustic (?) style, which means the noodles come out thicker/harder and aren't soft, which can be uncomfortable. I'd recommend going to B&B instead.

Suggestions for best Thai or Sushi in Summerlin? The further north, the more convenient for me.

My favorite Thai is Archie's which is at Sahara and Fort Apache I think...I don't know if that constitutes Summerlin...I don't know about Sushi in Summerlin however.

You managed to miss most of their good stuff. 1) Bacon wrapped dates, 2) Ham and cheese croquettes, 3) any sangria, 4) squash soup 5) chocolate tres leches cake and for the more adventurous, 6) tuna peppers, 7) cripsy duck rolls, and 8) grilled octopus. YMMV, but Firefly remains a good fun place for a group to mix and match these small plates and have a good time at a reasonable price.

the one and only time i had firefly i thought it was pretty terrible.

the sliders, wow. my friend and i both took one bite and just left them on the plate. can't really remember what else we ordered but i remember the potatoes with a bunch of sour cream and sauce on them was our favorite item, which is pretty sad

I agree that Firefly has some big misses. No sliders, the french fries are so so, the surf and turf skewers are dry and boring. When you have so many choices, not all with be home runs or in your taste comfort zone. Augie, I don't think you are ready to step out of your overdone steak world and try the octopus. It is really good. (The octopus is really good at Otto's, too.)

It's still a good group spot so if you order a couple of things that aren't so hot, so be it. IMO, it is relatively easy to spot likely hits and misses on Fflys menu. Sliders are a mistake almost anywhere. (Exception: pulled pork sliders!) Start with my list and expand from there.

yea we didn't try a lot of the items. i'm sure i will wind up there again some day to give it another rumble

Here's the deal

Step 1) get a group of 8 (including some real foodies) to go to a small plates place like Firefly.
Step 2) drink something (sangrias) to the point of being...open to suggestions.
Step 3) have the foodies order something for everyone, including the stuff you don't even want to see at your table, like the octopus.
Step 4) Make a prop bet with a foodie to just try ONE real bite of something out of your food comfort zone. (Open your mouth and close your eyes and mommie will give you a big surprise!)
Step 5) Have the camera ready to memorialize the event or, if you do hurl, provide the world with your youtube moment.

I guarantee a fun evening regardless of what comes up!

Augie is from Peoria guys. Very rarely could we midwesterners be persuaded to eat octopus. But if he keeps eating at places w/ Jimmy I'd bet he does before the end of the year!

I kinda figured octopus was like calimari. I don't know why anyone would LOVE it. Similar to frog's legs imo, stringy and tough.

Enh, fried calamari is nothing like octopus. In taste nor texture.

Also I find it disheartening that my friend who is starting up a food blog with me refuses to try something.
