I certainly wouldn't classify Blue Ribbon as fine dining either.

My last visit two Sushi-de-luxe type samplers and two drinks incl. tax/tip = $128. In my book that's in terms of price just the upper limit of casual.

Food's VERY mainstream - no obviously flaws, but no high points either.

Ichiza was ridiculously good -- had a pre-redeye dinner there on Monday. Bummed they were out of the uni AND chu-toro, but that also made the dinner way cheaper.

Great place and would go back there a lot.

No reasonable definition of casual includes meals in excess of 100 dollars.

Clark,

I almost made the same post, then realized he was talking about dinner for two. I've never gotten out of Blue Ribbon for anywhere close to sub-$100, which is why you prob made that mistake. I def would not consider Blue Ribbon to be a casual dining sushi place. I do think it's really good, though!

Going to Traattoria Nakamura-Ya for the first time tomorrow. Heard great things about it, fusion Japanese/Italian near kabuto/monta/raku. Definitely trying the Uni Tomato Cream Spaghetti and the sausage/mushroom risotto. Anything else I should order?

Miso carbonara and uni tomato cream are my two favorite pastas.

Kobe carpaccio is a completely typical/traditional Italian carpaccio, but it's really good.

Dang ike, should have checked the thread before going! The miso carbonara sounds excellent, not sure how I missed that.

I wish I wrote down the beer I ordered, it was a premium special beer (red, rice based), my dad had a darker beer from the same company and both were outstanding. A little pricey at $10/beer but it was 7% alcohol and was really, really good.

We started with three appetizers, Octopus Carpaccio, Salmon Carpaccio and the Japanese Mushrooms & Jidori Chicken Salad. The octopus was ok, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Salmon was good, about what you'd expect. The Salad was really flavorful and something I'd recommend.

They unfortunately didn't have the risotto tonight, so we ended up with the Uni Tomato Cream Spaghetti, Kurobuta Tonkatsu Pork and a Prosciutto Fettucine type dish. Would pass on the prosciutto dish, recommend the pork dish and HIGHLY recommend the uni pasta, simply amazing.

Overall, would give it 4/5 stars. If I ordered a little bit better, I can see it being 4.5 stars. Keep in mind, I do eat Italian but would rarely choose it and love Japanese. I'd prefer it over any Italian places I've tried and say it's on par with my regular secondary Japanese restaurants.

Ok, thinking really casual here:

What are the best chicken wings on the strip?

Best nachos? I've had Diabolo's, prefer shredded cheese to the sauce they use.

Been to the peppermill 3 times based on this thread. The omelettes and burgers have been very good but good god the service has been awful.

Don't you mean you've been to the Peppermill one time based on this thread, and two times based on your experience there?

All,

Need restaurant recommendation for 30-50/head for tonight. Could drive within 10-15 of strip if needed. Already went to burger bar, Holsteins.

Haven't had a lot of wings on strip in Vegas, but I really liked the ones I had at BLT at Mirage. First used to have really good lollipop style ones, but they're gone.

For a nice atmosphere but reasonable prices within your 30-50 range, I like Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris hotel. Good French bistro with steak frites, solid appetizers, and a good selection of other entrees if you don't want the steak options.

If you want to catch a game or have a cool sportsbar type atmosphere you could try Lagasse stadium in Palazzo.

Buzio's at Rio has pretty good seafood that is in your pricerange.

Have a bet on navy-sd state tonight so may go check out Lagasse.

Breakfast at Egg works right now though

Nice, glad you liked it. I had the waiter bringing far too many baguettes to the table too.

If you go to laggasse I'd recommend the french dip for dinner and cookies and milkshake dessert, but I'm sure lots of items are good

Have only eaten it once since Monta is my go-to soup place, and I'm sure there are others but Noodle Exchange @ Gold Coast has a solid hot pot.
