(There used to be a great sushi place half a block or so directly east of the Stardust. Now there is no Stardust and there is no great sushi joint there any more.)

Can any of you fellow anasakiasis-ridden nematode munchers recommend a restaurant suitable for a sushi-lover's dinner?

Picked up from hearthstone this weekend. Place was the most packed outside of North Italia that I have seen when picking up food in a few months. I like this place under normal conditions but the food just didn't travel well at all. Short rib was the best thing we ordered, but there were a number of clunkers and the french fries were flat out inedible.

It would not be a top tier East coast deli but it is the LV nuts.

Ordered sandwiches and pizzas from there the other day. Then ordered basically same sandwiches and pizzas from other place I heard was good (it wasn’t), and cuginos won on every single item.

ETA: they used to have a porchetta, broccoli rabe, and prov but they got rid of it We used to go there for lunch 1-2 times a month when I worked over at Hughes center

Ya was talking to another 2p2er about the place and he said “that location is cursed” bc it’s turned over so often in recent times. Hopefully this can stick around. Tough times for restaurants rn...

I was also upset that Sage is closed for good. I always looked forward to their poached egg appetizer.

Not RIP worthy. Place fell off a cliff around 2017 quality wise.

Go to Pizza Rock and get a Detroit red top

Pretty much everything on the menu at Pizza Rock is elite.

They actually have sister restaurants in SF and Sacramento. It's prob my favorite place to eat pizza on the entire west coast.

Yeah we haven't been back yet, my dining totally fell off with my 2nd kid and a bunch of work travel -- more 2nd kid being almost two than work travel these days... and these days im hardly taking any meetings in town either, though i did have drinks at North Italia yesterday, which gets high marks for everything except leaving us at our table with no service for 20 minutes. Once we flagged someone down we were well taken care of.

Got childcare over the weekend, thinking maybe Black Sheep.

Everything was stellar. That octopus though... man. Cocktails were great too. Highly recommend.
From 9/2018. Can’t believe it’s been 2 years. There’s a review someone posted a month later that it was good not great so ymmv.

Went to Kushi BBQ Skewers, highly recommend. Great concept that I haven’t seen before. Right across the shopping center with Edo/Hachi/District One.

x2 on the Detroit. If you haven’t had Izzy’s Pizza Bus yet, that’s a must try. All Detroit style, pretty close to perfection.

Tried it on this recommendation.
  • 8x10 pizzas for $15-$19.
  • About 5 different choices of specialty pizzas.
  • Travels fairly well - better than Settebello or Pizza Rock. Took me about 8-9 minutes to get it home.
  • The secret to the taste on some of their pizzas are the peppers and the honey.
  • I don't eat as much as I used to but I even had some leftover because I stopped eating when a normal person would.
  • Different than most other pizzas in the valley and would recommend a try but because I don't need to spend $20 on lunch, it will be a special occasion pizza in my rotation.
Worth a try to see if it's your bag.

One pizza from Izzy’s is 4 slices but I usually can only eat two, they’re pretty filling. Well worth the money IMO
