Wanting to save our money for more important things like gambling, we decided to eat cheap and having had good experiences with Denny's where we live, we decided we would have breakfast one day in Vegas. BIG MISTAKE!

It took forever to get service, it took forever to get our food (we were going to walk out when they brought our food), the food was cold, one water glass was incredibly filthy, etc. We complained again and said we were going to leave, but the manager came up said she would take care of things and asked if we would wait while they redid our food which we agreed.

By the manager saying she would take care of things, we thought we would get at least a little taken off the bill, but absolutely nothing ended up being comped.

I was going to write Denny's and complain when we got home, but I lost the receipt so I couldn't give a date and time so I ended up not writing them.

They not only lost a possible repeat customer, they made me into someone who is publicly complaining about them.
If you go to Las Vegas, and end up eating at Denny's, you deserve every bad thing that happens as a result of it.

LOL at the Denny's story. Every single hotel has a coffee shop that will serve what Denny's does, usually better, usually no more than a couple bucks more. Eating at Denny's in Vegas is like staying at some off-strip ****hole motel because it's $4 a night cheaper than IP.

Actually, where we were staying did not have such a place as far as we could tell at the time.

Cafe St Louis in Paris has a varied menu at pretty much all hours and the food is off pretty good quality although there is usually some waiting time.

If you're really set on breakfast at PH and don't really want to go anywhere, the buffet is really your only option.

What about the obvious, the coffee shop there at PH? I had lunch there, it was fine.

Yep, I did a walkthrough of the new place a couple weeks ago. They actually made an effort. I was whelmed.

As I've said elsewhere, we did stay there and it IS nice. Personally, I like that it's at one end of the strip. The walk to the monorail is not that bad.

We didn't eat at Baccio or Biscayne the last visit, but will the next time.

I also walked through the property when it was basically finished and I thought it looked great. The room reviews I've heard have also been very good as well.

It's got a great location still and I think it has a good chance, unlike other renovated properties, (Plaza and Riviera to name a few) of actually being successful.

So, after all the talk, I had to check out the Pizzeria at the Cosmo. I went for a few slices after work last night.

I had looked on Yelp as well as this thread for info. While I rarely trust Yelp, I do like to know what the general consensus is regarding a certain establishment. The Yelp reviews were through the roof: it seemed like just about everyone loved it.

Ok, it must be great, right?

Right?

Wrong.

I was pretty disappointed. The pizza was average, nothing more, nothing less. While I can certainly appreciate a decent slice at 3am on the strip at a fair "strip price," it doesn't take away from the fact that the pizza was simply average. It also seemed like an amateur resort operation rather than a (hopefully) Mom and Pop pizza place.

I ordered two slices: one ricotta and one pepperoni and meatball for $8.50 total. This just in: that is not cheap for pizza, so it better be good. The slices that were sitting out didn't look great, and I felt that the slices were kinda small. The dough was spread too thin, resulting in a not-so-filling slice, which sucks when you are paying $4+. The crust was pretty tasty, but I recall nothing special about the sauce or the cheese. In fact, the cheese was a little burned, which sucks when you know they have to put the slice back in the oven to reheat it. After that, I was still hungry, so I ordered a cheese slice that had just come out of the oven for $3.25. Once again, it was quite average.

I love the concept of the place, but the execution was meh. And perhaps the worst part is the fact that you have to deal with drunk Cosmo girls who think they can cut in line because they are half naked and the DB's who hang with them because they are horny frat boys.

I was really hoping for a pizza place with large, amazing slices with a warm ambiance where the staff actually cared if you liked the pizza. But I got a cold moneymaking operation with drunk sorority girls and DB frat boys.

Sounds like you just don't like NY style pizza. And for a high-end strip hotel, the prices are very reasonable.

Also I know nobody around here ever endorses going to chain restaurants, but for cheap italian food Maggiano's is pretty damn good.

Agreed on Maggiano's, could eat there so often.

ESPN Zone is taken out, but it got replaced by Sports Zone or something similar. I went there for the NBA draft and it was still a great experience.

Also, Grand Lux, obviously.

+1 on Maggiano's.

Plus, the Crispy Flautas and the Vietnamese Chicken Summer Rolls at Grand Lux and are pretty tasty.

I agree the pizza price sounded reasonable.
