I know you all seem to keep it pretty high brow in here, but where are the best bars to game and eat? I liked Sporting life, I really liked born and raised, and hi scores was...fine i guess.

Any other sports worth checking out? Prefer 24 hours but can make other things work if I can play VP and order decent food

Rebel Republic is in and out of my top places if you're on this side of town -- they've changed staff a few times. Their food is really good though. I also like BAR and Sporting Life.

After failing to get into Raku, we didn't go back for another attempt. next time.

Saturday we ate at District One Kitchen and Bar. Had lobster w black pepper sauce. enjoyed everything. will return.

Matt's vote for sunday; Carson Kitchen. wp Matt. I loved Carson Kitchen. will go back. i asked the bartender, Liberty, to make me a smokey margarita. I got a deliciously creative combination of mezcal and avua cachaca. pork tenderloin was perfect. mixed the bacon jam into the mac n cheese.

twice had breakfast at Makers and Finders. proper flat white, and excellent pulled pork in their skillet breakfast.

also made two visits to Baguette Cafe near 215 and Durango. nothing special about the coffee, but the bread is excellent. quiche also good.

made it to Settebello off s green valley on the way back from boulder creek to drop off the rental. good pizza, but crust a bit soggy. still searching for great pizza in vegas.

Hey guys (not sure if casual dining is where this goes but...) any recommendations for an authentic dive bar near the Strip or downtown. By authentic, I mean the kind of place without a mixologist, where I can get an ice cold Coors Light at 9am on a Tuesday served by a bartender who maybe dated a guy from Motley Crue.

That is a pretty good list, and Da_nit nailed it for what you're looking for. I'd add Moon Doggies from that list, and Stage Door might also make your short list since it's walking distance. I don't know how the Tuesday AM crowd at Dinos is, but they take their evening karaoke seriously. Have seen some amazing folks there. I'm a fan of Money Plays also - super divey but pretty good beer list (which you are clearly not looking for). ReBar in the Arts District might meet your needs too -- less gritty than I'm envisioning you wanting, but not frou-frou either. Bartender often just a random dude in a Hawaiian shirt (who almost assuredly never dated someone from Motley Crüe who looks like he bought a bar and retired here to make his own Cheers.

Would try Dino's, Double Down, Hard Hat, Moon Doggies for your needs first. Hell, for that matter, I've seen some Motley Crue dating looking folks at PT's, Sagos, and several other chain local joints which certainly won't judge you at 9am tuesday. Vegas is a magical place.

I’d like to put Atomic Liquor in that list but it’s not the same since they remodeled. Now it’s all clean with good beer and cocktails. So boring.

Hoops Food and Spirits on N Pecos. Definitely more of a dive bar than the other recommendations.

I too like this place a lot. Another place with a good beer selection and great bar food is Steiner’s which has three locations.

Went to Oyster Bar at Sunset Station today. I know we always say there is something about the palace station location that separates it. Today my pan roast was the closest I’ve experienced to the one at Palace Station, and the chef really upped the heat level which I loved. Now if they could only improve the bread.

I've eaten at Raku once. Immediate seating because I went after 1 am.

I often dine alone at weird hours when I am in Las Vegas. I'd be interested in knowing the best steak you can casually walk in and get with minimal wait after deciding to eat 15 minutes ago at both 3pm and 3am.

I've taken that to mean "which steakhouses are open all day" (for 3pm) and what's a good steak on a 24hr menu (for 3am)

There don't seem to be many that don't close between lunch and dinner service, I seem to remember being ok but not delighted with a 3pm steak in Capital Grille whilst struggling to work out anywhere else that might be open. I made a resolution to just hold out until 5/5:30 next time and walk up to a decent bar offering in a better steakhouse for immediate service.

As for 3am, I've tried steaks on obvious go-to 24hour places such as Grande Lux or Bellagio Cafe and B poker room. They will all suffice for an overwhelming hankering, but again it seemed a better solution to eat lite with a mental note to sort the steak deficit out 5:30pm the next day.

So both solutions for me tend to be the same, and my personal fav (for good service+great steak+quick turnaround) is StripHouse in PH.

I realise that hasn't really answered your question directly and I'll be interested to see what suggestions get put up, I might well try some. But to date, my conclusion has been to get a great steak the next day rather than a 2nd tier one now.

Never understood why people are so gaga over the Palace Station location. You could literally Uber to Texas Station, eat at the one there, Uber back, and the people who were at the back of the line would still be waiting.

Hmm, I did not realize that. Been so long since I've been to Bellagio after I used to be there all the time. The service was not very good at that place but I always liked the food.

Herbs and Rye closes at 3 am but steaks are half off between 12-3. They also have another happy hour but I don’t remember when. Maybe 5-7

Honey and I used to eat at the downtown Flock and Fowl often. No more.

We ordered the onion pancakes along with a lot of other stuff. They came with no onions, just really thin dry "pancakes". We asked the server "why no onions in the onion pancakes?" She asked the chef.

The "chef" came out of the kitchen to our table to discuss our concern. He showed us a 69 cent package of "made in China" "pancakes" (ordered every two weeks or so from the local Asian food mart, or somewhere else, gag me) that they heat up to serve customers who order onion pancakes. This was so that he could disclaim any responsibility for the lack of onions in the onion pancakes.

Glad he showed us his source material. We won't go back, even though I own a condo in that building and when we are vacationing there we can enter Flock and Fowl in two different ways, neither of which take us outdoors.

Too bad. They used to have a really great burger with caramelized onions and other stuff... (sobbing is heard) ... but, you know, they had to actually COOK that, so it is off the menu.

I plan on going to Jessie Rae's BBQ on Sunday night. Never been but I heard it is really small. Odds of getting a table for 4 after 6 PM? Thanks

Odds are decent to get a table, turnover is pretty quick too, but keep in mind they're a "til we run out" place so some of the stuff could be gone after 6PM. I think they close at like 730-8PM. Get the ribs. Their waffle fries are great with the white sauce too.

Cafe Bellagio has served me the worst food I'd ever had in Las Vegas. Come to think of it, probably in the US. Good riddance, IMHO.

But, you could use poker room comps there. Unlikely the management will extend this arrangement to a glorified bakery, I take it?
