Talking NY pizza here...

We live a block away from Broadway, which is our go-to utility pizza. It would pass for like a fine neighborhood pizza joint in NY/NJ. Pizzas, Chicken Parm subs, big old Italian guy sitting on a stool answering the phone and/or berating staff without overexerting himself and basically anything would be overexerting himself. It's legit, but it's not close to GOAT pizza.

Grimaldi's, Pizza Rock / Little Tony's, Dom Demarco's (offshoot of DiFara's in Brooklyn) are solid. I dont go to the strip ever for pizza, other than Grimaldi's occasionally (Palazzo), so can't comment on Five50 etc.

Those Guys Pies out in the Lakes was pretty good / authentic (is my recollection - i'm sure I TR'd here somewhere).

Settebello's is really good also, it's Neopolitan style so feels a little more rustic and artisanal. I'm probably shortchanging someone out there, but if you're looking for a spot, these will get you going.

have tried both Rocco’s and Grimaldi’s locations on Rainbow in SW, both were really bad imo.

I’ve tried the SW Rocco’s and agree that it is trash. The Grimaldi’s is the same as any other I have been to and is consistent and good.

A rare Malucci opinion I disagree with.

In general Vegas is a pretty nice city for pizza, probably best on the west coast. I assume it's because there are a ton of east coast migrants?

Pizza Rock happy hour is insane value. If I bust a poker tournament between 4 and 6 my first inclination is always to go there.

I was quite surprised at how good pop up pizza was in the plaza

so i just learned that Portland's Lardo now has a spot in LV. i don't know about the LV menu, but in PDX the best sandwiches are the banh mi (not traditional), porchetta and pho'rench dip. the dirty fries are worth the upcharge.

Rosati's Pizza is and always has been my favorite....go to is Italian Beef (i've had to beg them sometimes to put it on/tell them I will pay them extra) with Sausage on their Double Dough crust.....I also get it with extra cheese and extra sauce (again biased but their sauce is #1 to me OF ALL TIME) .... Giardiniera on the side to top it

Judging by your name and that epic avatar I am going to try Dom DeMarco's....Sicilian pizza done right is pure bliss

Grimaldi's at Venetian-If you sign up for their Birthday club you get a free large one topping starting that day to I think a week later....and I don't even believe you need to make any additional purchase
Ok, being from Chicago youwill enjoy this. I lived there five years and half my family is from there life long. I was working in Oak brook and a new manager who everyone thought was an idiot shows up from Charlotte and decides he is a local expert. He tells us he found a hidden gem, best pizza he has ever had.

where? Piodinis

huh? Piodinis, down the street from the mall, and he is taking us there for lunch

We start driving, all of us in the car knwo every restaurant on the gauntlet that is 22nd street and he turns into a huge one a block or two past the mall.

we all laugh...Giordanos it is. The guy couldn't read cursive clearly. He welcomes us to Piodinis and when we get to the table he literally tells the server he brought us to Piodinis for our first time. she laughs, and says she knows two of us already.

from where? Giordanos

really? where is that he asks.

don't worry Don, its a chain and this place is probably much better. we grab our server, when he is gone, and she says the staff cant bring themselves to tell him, so we dont either.

to this day Imagine an old guy in Charlotte bragging about a hidden gem, five Michelin star (Gobbo!) pizza joint in the CHI

I've liked it in the past, but have been hearing from others around here that it has gone downhill (and there are others who just don't like it).

Anyone have recommendations for a good Belgian waffle in town? Preferably on strip.

I think that at one time they had good pie there. I haven't been there in years and can't remember which pie was good but I've always liked the place.

I used to love Egg & I but no one goes there any more because, as Yogi famously pointed out, it's too crowded.

Used to rave about it. The wall of onion rings was still very tasty summer 2017, but I gave the burgers 2 chances that trip and definitely downhill. Probably not going back, at that price the burgers need to be really good every time. Still haven't quite figured out what to switch to for next year.

Tacos El Gordo

Lotus isn't on strip, so I feel like I can go strip-plus.

So I'd say Tacos El Gordo for lunch (it is a dive, it is great, it is not worth planning your day around) and maybe Lardo, PokPok Wings, etc in that food court at Cosmo for another convenient lunch. And for another dinner go to someplace like Yardbird or Momofuku (which are very, very different yet both enjoyable).

If I can convince you to get in an Uber, go to Raku.

Where are you visiting from?

I think the key to Vegas eating when you're from out of town is to focus on the stuff you can't get at home. Visiting from California, I end up eating a lot of pizza in Vegas. Back when I lived in NYC, id eat a lot of Mexican food in Vegas. If I lived in a small town, I'd probably go hard on the fine dining.

Im from Toronto so I guess I would be down for great mexican, also I HAVE to do Buchannal, I keep saying I will, I have done Aria's and the Wynn's buffet, both were amazing.
I'm in town from the 12th-20th but I play a lot of the poker tournaments, so it is based on that. (I really enjoy terrace point cafe too, also Grand Luxe is my go to for a quick salad while playing, it is super cheap considering)

+1 on these. I also really loved their Hawaiian style chili & eggs, which i'd get with a short-stack of red velvet pancakes. My favorite breakfast in LV.
