Service sucked at echo and rig last week when we went. The food was good-not-great per usual. Value was v good, esp w no corkage. But the server was ****.

Also man I love the nostalgia of Ichiza but it's just not doin it for me lately. Have had better food - and way better value w late night happy hour - at izakaya go. Makes me a little sad.

Having slept on this and briefly discussed, this may be less about Ichiza and more about the state and variety of food in LV - including and especially in Chinatown - having improved greatly, which is a fantastic thing.

Rainbow Kitchen question if anyone knows: is the House Spicy Chicken like a General Tso/Chang’s Spicy Chicken at P.F. Chang’s?

I was in San Diego last week and went to Richard Blaise's casual fried chicken joint called crack shack, no truer name was ever given to a restaurant. Probably a good thing there is not one in Vegas because they have the most addictive chicken sandwiches and duck fat fries I've ever had.

Also the new goodwich on the southwest just isnt as good as I want it to be. The downtown location has so many great sandwiches on the menu, and for some reason they just want to make an almost completely new menu on the southwest. I have tried 4 sandwiches so far and none of them have been as good as every trip I have been to downtown. Today I had a $17 steak sandwich that would not have been great for half the money. Really a shame because I love the downtown location and this one is so close.

Is any poke/sushi burrito place that much better than another?

HOT TAKE:

There is no such thing as a good sushi burrito.

I've eaten at both Brio (Town Center) and Esther's , but do not think they would be directly competitive even in the same area of town.

(Brio seems very "chain-like" for one thing, whereas Esther's is very much a single-place operation with a more personal kitchen.)

Poke Bowls >>>>>>>>>> sushi burritos so much so that sushi burritos should disappear. Just get a hand roll at whatever sushi spot you prefer.

I agree with this but also add that the ratio of bad poke to good poke on the mainland is like 10:1. It's a goddamn travesty how bad some of these new poke chains are at the only thing they sell.

I'll jump on that grenade. I like sushi burritos. It's a hand roll, but it's so much bigger, and one is about the right size, and I can get a bunch of different things in there. I'm not going to a sushi spot and asking for salmon, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura in a handroll, oh and by the way please add poke sauce and tempura crunch, and green onion, and seaweed salad, and wasabi aioli, and ALL OF THE THINGS. And it's like 8 bucks, which is pretty cheap.

I don't think it's amazing or anything, and I love a good hand roll, but i'm a once every other month guy maybe.

Come at me bro!

I like the sushi burrito in theory ... But I've always come away disappointed. Yet I still hold out some hope....

A poke bowl often seems like some sort of hipster chirashi that is way too busy.

So given the choice you’re choosing a burrito over a bowl?

Variety is the spice of life. I love poke but I am a poke minimalist. I don't want all the crap on my poke bowl. For me that's all about the fish.

It's like burgers. Sometimes I eat five guys and even though it's horsemeat I get it bc it's a greasy gutbomb and the toppings are so good.

Izakaya Go is gross went with 3 ppl none of us liked anything.

Echo n rig alsosucked I went with my wife one time. She got a steak totally burnt and she hates to send food back but did. New steak more burnt? Manager watching over us like hawk to see if we like it at that point my wife just said whatever. Sides and appetizers were good though?

Bok bok - new place off lake mead and buffalo, pretty good shawarma. Few more locations opening around the area.

Ichi ramen house - black garlic ramen was amazing. Spicy tuna with crispy rice also great. Was super cheap, like $13 for everything.

Shawarma house - get the shawarma fries with half chicken half beef. Ask for an extra side of the spicy garlic sauce.

Help us understand. What'd you order at each place? What izakayas do you like? What kind of steak / what temp at E&R? Etc.
