I love Bobby flay but had a bad experience at mesa grill a few years back. Maybe it's time to give them a second chance...

Virgils BBQ in the promenade is pricey and not that great.

Bobby is an insecure *******. His woman is wonderful. I spent about 15 minutes with the pair and all I could think was "his penis must have magical properties."

A recent Bill Simmons podcast has a story about Dave Chang getting people to go to the Oyster Bar at Palace Station at 8 in the morning and waiting in line for thirty minutes. Given the number of people in Las Vegas for summer league who might also listen to BS, it's possible this might lead to longer lines in the short term.

I have seen David Chang talk about Oyster Bar in a few interviews, including as part of his last meal ever if he had to choose. That wait is always imposing, definitely the pro move is to eat one while you are there and get one to go.

I went to Oyster Bar alone on a Friday @ 11 AM a few weeks ago and only had to wait 20 mins. Would have been way longer if I came at noon or was in a group.

My buddy went three days in a row at like 5am-ish solo and left two out of 3 due to a long wait. They were weekend days but yeah.

Sapporo was excellent. Recommend getting there at 9:45 PM and waiting a few minutes for the 10PM happy hour.

If you want regular nigiri Sapporo wins. If you want value on special rolls then it would be best if you went to an AYCE place.

Regarding Oyster bar, I’ve been there mid week plenty between 5pm-6:30 and no wait!

Went to goodwich which just opened in the same plaza on saturday. I got the club with olive spread and the patty 2.0. Patty was chicken instead of beef and was a great sandwich. Club was very average. They were struggling with a really slow kitchen but they are just opening up and the other location is great so I'm sure its temporary. Hopefully they bring over a few of the other sandwiches from downtown, especially the cold brown.

I love Goodwich but I do think they are guilty of putting creativity above flavor in their rotational sandwiches. I had a fish sandwich there which was breaded fish, American cheese, tartar, and then a bunch of random Asian elements added to it. It would've been great if they just chose which direction to go, but they tried to do both and it just ended up being extremely confusing (and extremely messy).

I only know the downtown location's menu, but you can't go wrong with the patty, reuben, egg salad or cold brown. The reuben with the fennel sauerkraut is otherworldly. I highly recommend the place, just stick with the classics.

Also Rainbow Kitchen on S. Rainbow is elite in terms of authentic and American Chinese food. Get the salt and pepper fish or pork. I've tried a lot of the menu and have yet to have a bad meal from this place.

Has anyone tried the new palms buffet? Seems to good value + good decor / presentation but lacking in pricier items. In particular I'm wondering about their duck cassoulet

I still urge you to check out the new location, but this seems to be exactly the problem here on a bigger scale. There are not a lot of classics on the menu. Sometimes you just want an exceptional sandwich that is a classic.

I’d have to say it’s the best deal for a buffet in Vegas overall. $18 for dinner.

I tried Mon Ami Gabi, Umiya, and 8oz over the last few days. Very happy with Umiya and 8oz. Not so happy with MAG. Not sure if they just have a hangover on Mondays, but our Open Table reservation was somehow given to another party, the first pot of coffee was cold, the wrong dish was brought for one person, and the food was cold. So all aspects of the operation were failing.

We went to four buffets on our recent trip to the WSOP in mid-June..three were very good and one was just horrible.

The new Palms AYCE is great, and a great value, too. The Rio Carnival Buffet across the street USED to be good back in the day..the new Palms buffet blows it away, and cheaper, too.

We also really liked the Orleans revamped buffet..quantity and quality were surprisingly very good..and the value is outstanding. I had last been to the Orleans buffet a couple years ago and it wasn't very good..HUGE improvements.

The other excellent one was the Bacchanal brunch buffet, but no surprise there..unlike the other two recommended, this one wasn't inexpensive.

The bad one was a huge disappointment. For years, I have said the Main Street Station buffet, downtown, was one of the best in Vegas for value. We went there for the lunch buffet, midweek, and it was beyond terrible. I couldn't tell you a single food item that was good.

Afterwards, I realized the Main Street Station hadn't raised the price of their buffet in about five years..so the price is still the same, but the quality went WAY downhill. The quality was equivalent to a Hometown Buffet..last time I ate there was two years ago, and it was still good. Not sure what happened to that one..now it is similar to the garbage served at Boyd's other properties, the Fremont and Sam's Town..

I have a soft spot for Mon Ami Gabi. It's a bit of a tourist trap, but the view is great if you can get the patio. Go for the scallops or duck l'orange on Tuesday. The steaks are surprisingly meh for a place that claims to be a steak-frites house.
