We went to four buffets on our recent trip to the WSOP in mid-June..three were very good and one was just horrible.
The new Palms AYCE is great, and a great value, too. The Rio Carnival Buffet across the street USED to be good back in the day..the new Palms buffet blows it away, and cheaper, too.
We also really liked the Orleans revamped buffet..quantity and quality were surprisingly very good..and the value is outstanding. I had last been to the Orleans buffet a couple years ago and it wasn't very good..HUGE improvements.
The other excellent one was the Bacchanal brunch buffet, but no surprise there..unlike the other two recommended, this one wasn't inexpensive.
The bad one was a huge disappointment. For years, I have said the Main Street Station buffet, downtown, was one of the best in Vegas for value. We went there for the lunch buffet, midweek, and it was beyond terrible. I couldn't tell you a single food item that was good.
Afterwards, I realized the Main Street Station hadn't raised the price of their buffet in about five years..so the price is still the same, but the quality went WAY downhill. The quality was equivalent to a Hometown Buffet..last time I ate there was two years ago, and it was still good. Not sure what happened to that one..now it is similar to the garbage served at Boyd's other properties, the Fremont and Sam's Town..
