So weird - I get tonkotsu shoyu (90%) or the black garlic (10%) like every time I go to monta. Rotate toppings but I fee like other than once (and I posted about it here) I've had really solid and consistent experiences there.

I will go hard on miso ramen at sora in the near future. Just landed actually and grabbed an Uber. Seriously considered it but too tired today.

Tried it for the first time last year and have returned twice. The tableside Caesar is a must. Steaks and sides are solid.

Chengdu Taste was pretty awesome. Hadn't had proper Sichuan food since I left NYC, 3 years ago, so it was an extra-special treat. Definitely would recommend.

What do you order there?

This time there were only 2 of us, and we had the sauteed green beans, sliced fish in hot sauce, and Sauteed Tender Chicken with Red and Green Peppers. (Menu here). All were excellent.

The best bet at a place like this IMO is go with a bigger group and order a bunch of different things, then share them all, family-style, if that is an option.

I probably should go back to Monta at some point.

Lots of good options in Chinatown.

If you like Vietnamese, try Pho Kim Long. The soup is good, same with chicken and rice, ice coffee, salad rolls, and other dishes.

If you like Hong Kong food, Wendy's Noodle Cafe is great. Congee, milk tea, short rib buns, and green beans are all good picks.

Fuku Burger in Chinatown are good burgers with Japanese flavors.

Chengdu Taste is great authentic Chinese.

What kind of food do you like?

Went mildly buzzed and was similarly unimpressed.

Just went. Oh man was it fantastic. Had Chengdu ZiaJiang, and for the price/value, up there with favorite/best dishes ever. And also had Spicy and Sour Chaoshou which was also quite good. Thank you so much for introducing this to me.

On a bad note related to this plaza...had a bad Sushi Kaya experience the other night. Some of the nigiri did not taste fresh at all.

Raku in China town is really good. Open till 3 am, I always get the Kobe beef Skewers, the Chicken stuffed Portabello mushroom skewers, the salmon skewers, and the lollipop chicken skewer, and all are 10 out 10

Sapporo revolving sushi is the nuts for happy hour.

Pho kim long has really good orange chicken. And one portion can serve two people easy. The avocado smoothie is surprisingly good too

Yama sushi is good for all you can eat, nothing special. We did eat for a very long time, and what seemed like mountains of food, and they never slowed down service for us or anything

Konbea belt sushi just opened and they do an all you can eat, conveyor belt sushi, but I haven't eaten there yet

And everyone says Kabuto is the absolute best. It's a fixed menu only tho I think, and the most expensive one is like $120. I ubered a waitress there and she said only go there," if you want to never like sushi at another place again." Other people have said something similar

Probably going to Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast tonight. Would I be ok wearing nice shorts and polo shirt, or should I dress up more?

You'd be fine in a tank top and board shorts

Thanks, lol. It's a first date so I won't be quite that casual, but good to know.

Hitting up Sapporo Sushi later this week for the first time. Anything special worth trying or just stick the usual?

The miso glazed cod, the deep fried shrimp, the garlic edamame, the stuffed Jalapenos, and the deep fried soft shell crab from the kitchen are really good. They aren't on happy hour, but they're good. The ramen and all the rolls are really good too
