Going to Vegas in a little over a week. Really love the pan roast at the oyster bar in Palace Station, but the wait sucks. Tried the pan roast at the Orleans last time we went, and it wasn't nearly as good. Are any of the other Oyster Bar places with more room/ shorter wait times comparable to the one at Palace Station?

The gyro is lamb and beef - no pork on the menu at all... But they do have "Greek Salad" on their menu... But their full name is "Kabob Kitchen Mediterranean Grill"... But they don't have one of those fancy Halal designation picture thingamajigs on their signage or menu.

I think you have ample reason to not believe that I was correct when I said it was Greek. I doubt it myself. They do have baklava and other foodstuffs and are definitely not a grocery store, so I am confident that they are definitely a restaurant of some sort. I can also say with great confidence that they are definitely not a Peruvian restaurant.

Edit: They have paintings of women with really big eyes who look Greek (as far as I can tell) on the wall. That might be a tell.

Big Wong in the same plaza as Monta Ramen. The menu is small and it definitely qualifies as fast casual. Very soul food soul food is soul food.

Warning: They did raise their prices so now most of their dishes (that are each too big for normal humans to finish) are now $5.95.

Wai Lee is the owner and a super nice guy. Connie is his wife and runs the front of the house until about 4pm. Make sure to tell them that the fat taxi driver who really likes the pork chops over rice* a lot sent you. That will do nothing for you, but it will make me feel good.

Their salt and pepper wings are epic. Their wanton soup is super epic (unless you mind having shrimp wantons instead of pork wantons). Or you could rise above and have the pork chops over rice.

Wai** told me today that the most horrible mistake I've made to date in my life is not trying their fried wantons.

Pro tip: Don't even try to park in the plaza. It is pointless and dangerous to do so. Park on Hauck St. (just to the west of the plaza) or at the church on said street (the church blocks their parking lot off if they have something going on and they dgaf otherwise). This tip also works if you are making the mistake of eating in the second best ramen joint in Vegas. Additionally, if you have plans to eat at Monta, just go to Big Wong.

*The menu should have it as "a half pound of lightly breaded boneless pork chop over a pound of rice with a dipping sauce of pork gravy that will make you weep. Also has a slightly runny tea egg in case this dish isn't rich enough for you, you gluttonous swine."

**His name is pronounced "wai"

I've been to Big Wong a bunch. Agree w most everything you said.

They closed early last time i went in there (like 20 min before close) so I'm a little salty.

It's been about a year, so I'll ask the thread again...any decent poke available in Vegas still?

If you disagree with my menu choices, I'd like your advice.

Definitely bbv. They run on a super small crew and that can affect things, I guess. It definitely isn't PF Chang's.

ive added Bajamar Seafood and Tacos to the rotation. excellent service, small space but really clean. $1 the signature fish taco on mondays and tuesdays. its a delicious taco with a lot of fish, not too oily, and light batter. prob not the best comparison, but i think of gordon ramsay fish and chips for battered fish, and although they give a generous portion, its really really oily and makes me sick after two pieces.

No, I think the wings and the wontons are good, and obviously insane value. I was less excited by the pork chops when I had them but will go order them again for sure. Also like their deep fried chicken, hainanese chicken, salt and pepper anythings, and their noodle soups. It's a solid place.

I don't think I've had anything that was *outstanding*, but again it is sick value and tasty food.

Is it unfair to be seeking the Chinese Chada? Would especially like to find somewhere seafood-oriented. In fairness, I have a lot more places to try still.

Yeah, the owner @ Big Wong used to tell me my order before I could even say anything based on my area code (#12 & #21), but then other people from my office started wanting food every time so he could no longer guess.

I asked him what he recommended one time & he said basically that what I order is the good stuff, but maybe try the raman. Haven't tried the raman yet...

Solid comfort food really shouldn't knock your socks off.

If you find such a thing, then your name will be praised for centuries.

Definitely unreasonable to think you will find such a thing.

Amazing breakfast food. Not the greatest value, but fair prices given the quality. I would eat there 1-2 times a week when I lived at Juhl.

DW Bistro? Always a nice brunch, but I prefer it for dinner.

Anyone know if food delivery service like Postmates and Grubhub deliver to the WSOP, to the convention area where the tournament is?

Got a slice from good pie after the knights game. Admittedly was frustrated with the game and buzzed but the slice definitely reminded me of east coast pizza which is a big plus. The negative part was that I thought the sauce was slightly overly sweet and although I planned on grabbing a pie to go, couldn't really justify crushing the diet so I passed. Plan on giving it another shot or two after the hardcore diet is over.

Agree Secret Pizza is wildly overrated.

I love the wings at Five50. Great breading, well cooked, sauce is delicious.

I will not have Tacos El Gordo's good name be besmirched. That place is excellent.
