I'll be in Las Vegas in a couple weeks for 5 days.

Already making my plans for food. Most are picked because they aren't available in Orange County, CA

CiCi Pizza Buffet
Capriottes (The Bobbi!)
Moes! (Chipotle done better)
Jimmy Johns
Aurelio's Pizza
Raising Cane
Golden Corral
Hash House
Ellis Island Steak Special
Bob's Big Boy on the way home in Barstow

and a strange controversial pick:
Circus Circus Buffet - For only one reason, I LOVE their broccoli-cheese soup. It has a peppery kick that no other broccoli cheese soup has. The rest of the buffet is fairly uneatable. (But kids eat free LOL)

Can't wait.

I love Golden Corral! All you can eat steak and awesome chocolate cake!!! I wish they were near me.

Best I got is Hometown Buffet.

It's like when Chick-fil-a opened near me, it was happy days!

Burst my bubble.

I'll refrain from teasing you about how delicious Rubio's fish taco's are.

Golden Corral, huh? You got a Sizzler nearby? Basically the same.

Fat people in this thread.

Funniest commercial is golden corral pimping there all you can eat ribs.

Tried munchies bar at Caesars near poker room. It is whatever, but they do serve humngous beers.

Um, Outback >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sizzler

I also like Golden Corral salad bar with that bacon dressing.. Or all the onion rings you want.

Tasty rolls too.

Bottom line is that it's the best $10 buffet period.

Fine dining thread is that way
<------------------

I've gone to Ellis Island for the steak special several times and think that -- in terms of value -- this is one of the best deals in town.

I'll still give Mark a hard time about Cici's and Golden Corral, though.

For constructive suggestions, you might mention if this is you? you and wife? you and buddies? you, wife, and kids? etc.

This actually begs the question: top 10 vegas meals under $10?

In N Out is in this list for most (definitely for me -- I usually don't make it to the hotel before I stop), but there are quite a few in OC iirc, so out for Mark. I think the Ellis Island steak special is in the list. And for a wild card, last year the LVA coupon book had BOGO bellini brunch buffet at Silverton (reg. $19.99), and 4 of us went (one DD'ed) down. The food was on par with other buffets in this strat, and there were AYCD bellinis (several varieties) and champagne.

Others?

Aurelio's Pizza is awesome. Cici's Pizza is barely eatable but their breadsticks and desserts are rrrrockin'! Proud to say I've never had Golden Corral.

Priced in-line with the good strip steakhouses but not nearly as good. More of a fine dining thread question.

Great question - and honestly more what I was hoping for when I started this thread. I certainly didn't think we were gonna discuss places like Lotus of Siam, DOCG etc in here. Was totally thinking more along the lines of sub-$15 meals.

Who said anything about Outback?? The guy wants to do Golden Corral because there are none in OC.

So when I'm in Vegas alone just to grind for a few days and clear my head:

In N Out
Ellis Island steak special
99c shrimp cocktail and a sandwich @ Golden Gate [I can't resist the shrimp cocktail, and their sandwiches are fine, and you're already there for the shrimp cocktail...]
Stage Deli @ MGM is a decent standby if you're not looking for anything fancy and want to spend MGM comp $$. [Earl of Sandwich is comparable but pricier iirc and much further from the poker room/hotel rooms]
You can get a few decent breakfasts for really cheap, but I like taking the drive, so I go out to Arizona Charlie's on Decatur (and I sit at the counter because there's no wait).
There are a few joints in/near Chinatown I hit, and while I can drive there, the names escape me.

I usually hit Grand Lux if I'm near V, though I don't get out for under $10 ever. And speaking of V, there's usually BOGO or similar coupons in the LVA coupon book. Those food court type places are overpriced, but the coupon usually brings them back to justifiable.

@Mark_K: You guys might enjoy taking the kids to play Rick Moonen's Ice Cream game, depending how old. My gf and I went and met up with pwns and did this over a couple beers. It was a good time. If the kids are too young to 'play', maybe RM would bring the kids a bowl of ice cream or something so they could eat while you taste.

Can you just order the ice cream game or do you need to order lunch/dinner too?

just the game. it's like $18 for 16 golf ball sized scoops of ice cream iirc. It's not a massive amount, but you only eat it in little tastes, trying to identify the flavors. We didn't come close to finishing it.

edit: and there were 3 of us! But with kids, who are eating ice cream to eat ice cream, this might not be best, since (a) they won't be too much flavor help, and (b) a lot of these are ice creams you might not choose to eat a bowl of, even though about half or more are. [think: garlic. ugh.]

Mr Lucky's 777 is by far the best meal under $10 in Vegas. Aside from Pho and Monta

Agreed.

Pho Thang Wong is probably top 10 as well (certainly ahead of In-N-Out and everything else on that list).

Not under $10 probably, but this made it occur to me that I haven't given the dim sum place on Decatur between Trop and Flamingo any love. That place is great. It's FILLED with Asians, and never has white people which is how you know it's amazing. Don't remember the name. It has a green roof.

Mr. Lucky's 777 seems like Ellis Island minus the included microbrew.
