Have tried a couple new places:
Shang Artisan Noodle - Flamingo and Decatur. They make hand-pulled and knife-shaved noodles. Tried the spicy wontons (which are free w Yelp checkin), seafood noodle soup, beef noodle soup, Dan Dan noodles, fried rice, pork cabbage dumplings, and beef pancake. Had high hopes but was let down. Nothing wrong with it, but of all the dishes we tried, nothing wowed either. Next up on Chinese places to try: Yum Cha, Noodle Man, KJ Chinese
Bonchon - Rainbow and Sunset. Korean fried chicken. Got both kinds of chicken strips (spicy and not spicy), the salmon and avocado ball, the tteokbokki, and the bulgogi sliders. This wasn't our first choice - they have a handful of items (eg, kimchi pancake trio, pork buns) that they aren't making yet despite the fact that they are on the menu. The chicken strips were interesting in that they both had a funky marinade (and I love Korean flavors) but neither worked for me. Bulgogi sliders had decent flavors but we're pretty dry. I thought the salmon avocado ball was gross. The tteokbokki just wasn't my thing either (and I don't shy away from weird flavors at all) -- so all in all I was really disappointed. Wife disliked the salmon avocado ball less than I did and had no problem with it (though the words "weird" and "unnecessary" we're used). Called tteokbokki "Korean Spaghettios" which is pretty apt.
Did Glutton for lunch this week and they couldn't make the zucchini parmesan sandwich (which they didn't tell me until after I ordered). Rant: when your lunch menu is like 5 sandwiches, you should really be able to make all 5, especially when your reason for not being able to make the sandwich is that you don't have the ingredients to make the red sauce. But what we did have was delicious, so I guess my sentiments from dinner a few months ago still hold:

I guess that means they have some room to improve in overall experience, but nothing that's a dealbreaker.
