I forgot about the fried banana ice cream dessert as well. Really good.

I went to Sushi Fever on Sahara for some work function.

I don't personally eat sushi, but my sushi eating co-workers seemed to enjoy it. I'm guessing they are non-experts & their opinions should be discounted.

I did enjoy the potstickers, tempura calimari, tempura halibut & mango mochi. Not so much the scallop yaki or beef teriyaki.

Would eat there again if boss paying, despite the whole sushi thing. Would not pay to eat their myself.

Any place you rec that is walking distance on the strip?

The closest one I would consider is Umiya but it's not really walking distance. Strip food sucks now.

Just ate at Hachi, new Japanese place in the same shopping center as Chada Thai. Incredible, probably the best Japanese I've had in town. For three people ordering about 20 items it came out to be $86. Sick value.

Izakaya style, no sushi rolls just sashimi, Japanese dishes and grilled skewers

Well I'm about to test it. Just sat at the bar and ordered a $40 omakase from the head chef.

Confirmed amazing. $40 was too much food. Gave them my card and the chef got really happy. Will be back to do a review there soon.

What came with the omakase? I didn't even know it was an option.

It isn't. I just sat at the bar and asked the guy if he was the head chef (yes) and if he would make me an omakase for $40 and he said sure and went to work.

Got the trio of appetizers with some sort of japanese name. There was a raw squid tentacle one that was ****ing delicious and some sort of fermented vegetable. Beef tongue, the most juicy fried chicken I've ever eaten, some fish carpaccio, grilled salmon belly, pork skewer, a bowl of shoyu ramen, probably one or two other things. It was way too much food for one man.

Tried to google Hachi and it must have been at Red Rock in the past, but closed. I wonder if this is the same restaurant in a new setting? Will definitely try it in September.

Def not the same place.

Can't be. Hachi at RR was the kind of place that slathers mayo all over their sushi rolls so the yokels will eat it.

Is there anything more tilting that is routinely done to sushi than slathering it with mayo?

mayo tilts me in general... although Mayo and Shoyu is good.

I'm currently in line at Oyster Bar and it smells amazing. Specific recommendations? I'm excited.

Sadly I only have my work phone on me so I didn't get that text. I must have gotten the message telepathically though because that's what I got. It was something else. Wow.

Palace pan roast is better than the combo. You get tons of chicken and andouille sausage with the crab and shrimp instead of negligible amounts of lobster. Combo pan roast is fool's gold.

The lobster flavor permeates the broth though. It's so ****ing good. I guess I'll try that next time though.

I think the broth flavor is roughly the same. Both delicious. I like the spice the andouille provides and feel like I'm getting much better value and so much more delicious protein.
