That's fair - I got stuck going cause apparently this place is infinitely better than Holsteins. Bitch.

I really hope whatever 24h sushi place I find drunk tonight is good

Lol at whoever told you that. Holstein's is the nuts.

This, not only on general principles but I thought everybody read the NYT review.

Slight lean to grimaldis on pizza alone but that's after one visit. Good happy hour prices on apps/drinks (3-6, 9-close) and super easy and convenient, which makes me more likely to go there than grimaldis.

Went at 530 yesterday and it was Half empty. Not a huge place either.

Got takeout tonight and it was fantastic. The "St Anthony" (white pizza w a bunch of cheeses, garlic, roasted red peppers, sausage, etc) and the Margherita. Both are glorious. Totally different red sauce on the Margherita from the New Yorker. Really, really good. Super excited for leftovers.

Ended up getting pick up from "High Roller Pizza" on the corner of LVB and Blue Diamond... Two large 3 topping pizzas were $52, which is kinda brutal

We ordered one made with a "spicy blackjack sauce" instead of the traditional tomato sauce and it was inedible with how hot it was. I like spicy and this was just stupid

Been here a little over a month now for the series and figured I'd share my favorite go-to spots off the strip since this was my first summer here with a car.

Peru Chicken on Tropicana east of the strip: awesome rotisserie chicken and other classic Peruvian items like Lomo Saltado. Incredibly reasonably priced too. Like $7 for a 1/4 chicken and 2 sides.

Sweet Addiction for dessert. Amazing ice cream sandwiches where you choose your own cookies from about 10 cookie options and pick your flavor of ice cream. Hit this spot too many times and will be back before I leave I'm sure.

Yanni's Greek Grill on Las Vegas Blvd near SouthPoint. Staying close to Southpoint and this has become my go-to take out spot. Delicious chicken skewers, pita, schwarma, etc.

Rollin Smoke BBQ: Its praises have been sung countless times in this thread, but I hadn't been before this summer and loved it. Definitely check it out.

Viva Las Arepas on the north strip near the Stratosphere: Great Venezuelan street food, make sure you add a fried egg to your arepa. Also very cheap.

Naked Fish: Another 2+2/WSOP classic and always great for sushi, etc.

Sweet Addiction is just that. Way too hard to resist even though no one actually wants to go there.

Glad to hear a review of that arepas place. Have gone past it a bunch of times and never managed to stop in.

It is incredible - search this thread. Also the goodwich sandwich truck right across Wyoming is amazing.

arepas and goodwich are both great. There's a hole in the wall frozen custard place, luv it, that's right next to both that is also very good.

I also have an arepas review in the works. As someone who's never heard of arepas before going there, pretty damn tasty. Basically a crispy taco made with an english muffin.

arepas is great. last time I was there (with wyman), the guy working let us bring in beers and kept them in the cooler for us. we also got harassed by one scary looking hooker who wanted one of our beers. good times.

The grilled chicken wings with spicy sauce at Viva Las Arepas are where it's at.

I never recommend the chicken anywhere, because pork and beef are so much better. But the chicken at Viva Las Arepas is the nuts. Chicken empanadas are one of my favorites (and of course all the arepas are great).

Is it like a Papusa?

yes and no

The main difference to me is that pupusas remind me of stuffed doughy corn tortillas, and arepas remind me of corn flour English muffins.

Going to a bachelor party next weekend. We're going to the WetRepublic Pool Party on Saturday, looking for a place to do dinner on Saturday night. Prob will have 4-6 people, not looking for anything too fancy, just good drunk food.

Catch is we likely will have one Vegan with us (****ing up all my food plans) so we need a place that will accommodate that. So places like Holstein's, Burger Bar, etc are out. We're already doing STK on Friday night so looking for a place maybe in the $30 a plate range rather than the $75+ a plate range. Willing to cab it somewhere off strip, but given we'll be drunk to quite drunk, the patience for that will likely be limited.

If you go do the Wet Republic correctly, you will be all passed out during dinner time and/or puking at Denny's will do.

First, I'm sorry you have to deal with a vegan. I'm vegetarian and even I think vegans are crazy. However, Holsteins offers a vegan burger and Burger Bar has a vegetarian one.

After Wet Republic, pretty sure you can convince him that El Machete is the Vegan option.

Why do people bother with vegans? I've never understood this.

Try Komol. Thai food, same plaza as Lotus, but they seem to cater to the vegetarian/vegan crowd a bit more than Lotus. Or hogtie the vegan and go get steaks. Bonus - if he can break out, he can eat the rope for a tasty snack.
