Has anyone eaten at the Golden Steer?

We are coming out to play the Tag Team event and wanted to try this restaurant.

Tried Sushi 21 the other day, it was the bomb. I still don't understand how these AYCE places make any money (the good ones, anyway) but I certainly won't question it.

Bonnano's pizza in the MGM Grand was mad decent. Not quite like my hometown of NYC, but close enough for government work and certainly better than anything in my new home of SLC. Crazy overpriced and doesn't take comps, but at least it's right near the poker room and open till 5am.

Just learned about this Chada Thai upon my arrival this summer, or 2 weeks or so after it closed. FML...

it's an AYCE place that didn't make any money (not specifically about sushi).

they still have good food and excellent steaks. old world LV charm all the way. if that's the dining experience you're looking for, it's either there or at Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens.

if you want new & fancy it's not the spot for your dinner party.

looking for traditional pizza?

try Those Guys Pies in the Lakes or a south suburban staple Aurelio's in NLV.

carryout recommended

pizza Capri not horrible

Pizza rock for less traditional

Went to Evel Pie the other night in a drunken haze. It was pretty great.

Any alternatives to Monta Ramen? For me still the best but can’t deal with the huge lines especially hungover...

Went to their other restaurant, Kobo ramen, the other day and didn’t find it half as good, and spent the rest of the day sitting on the toilet, so won’t be rushing back...

Ramen Sora. It is better. Or at least more consistent. You can park in the street to the immediate west or in the church parking lot.

What do you guys get at Sora? I'm a bit conflicted.

I think I usually get the chashu shoyu iirc.

I get my food to-go from there & Monta because I go during lunch @ work. No time for sitting down & such.

I've lurked this thread from 3000 miles away for a long time. I'll be coming to Vegas next week. Very disappointed in Chada news. I plan on having a rental car for a couple days (or can Uber).

Any updates to these AYCE suggestions, or additions? We went to Oyshi a few years ago and I was happy with it. Any place that lets me eat as much good salmon and tuna with minimal rice is a winner. No need for the complicated rolls.

Peppermill - overrated? I've heard both way.
Cheap good diner-type breakfast places? On and off strip?
Best non-crazy $ high end meal? Maybe around $100 excluding drinks?
Current "shouldn't miss" places, at any price point?

All things considered Goyemon is my current favorite. They are very consistent. Their nigiri sushi comes in weirdly small pieces but it's AYCE so you can just order extra.

I can see why Jjanga would be a top recommendation. They do most things fairly well and have premium items (like spicy tuna with crispy rice) on the AYCE menu. I personally think their fish quality is a half step down from Goyemon.

Hikari is a full step down from the restaurants above but they offer AYCE sashimi, something I've never seen elsewhere. So if you like sashimi they might be worth checking out.

There was a time when Oyshi on Rainbow was a contender but the last three times I went the sushi was awful. I'm not sure what happened to them.

Peppermill is not special food-wise but the decor is genuine 1970s Stardust and definitely worth a visit, breakfast during the week would work best but its 24 hr.

Good cheap diner-type breakfast, off-strip would be
Sunrise Cafe @ Eastern and the 215

I had an excellent Sushi Kaya experience a couple weeks ago and they might have worked their way back into my rotation. Problem is they’re also very busy during peak times.

Anybody mentioned “Other Mama”?

I failed to get pics, but the food was great.

My favorite was the ceviche, but everything was really good.

Deluxe miso. If you are regretting that you didn't get the shio, push the nori into the broth and you have miso-shio.

The reason I don't like Monta is because it is like playing roulette.

Fwiw, Sora is entirely inconsistent with their tea eggs nowadays
