Would not be better than going to an AYCE and close to the strip I would say Jjanga (Decatur/Twain location) and Goyemon are the best them being my two favorite. I am looking to branch out, but I’m a Yama hater (E. Flamingo location) it was terrible the one time I went there many years ago. People seem to like it though.

And recently tried Sushi Koma and I'm a fan.

koma was hit or miss for me but that was probably 18 mo ago. Maybe they sorted their inconsistencies out. JJanga is my usual spot. No liquor license as of early december-ish but they said theyd have it in like a week. I think they told me that 2+ years ago though also.

Why would I ever give them a second opportunity to be awful when I have so many other better options?

I’ve been really digging Bambino’s East Coast Pizzeria on Durango and Sahara.

They told me that in February and then again in May/June!

Wicket Spoon has some very good options, but it does not apply to their very pedestrian nigiri.

That said, at two-for-one, WS is a supreme value buffet.

In particular their made-to-order Bouillabaisse de Fruits de Mer alone is worth the price of admission, and many of the other items (pasta with lobster for instance) are also truly high-end.

Please recommend a Sunday brunch for me. I have previously enjoyed Wynn and Mandarin Oriental brunch buffets but it appears neither still exists?

Picking an AYCE sushi place depends partly on what you like and what you're looking for. I haven't been to Yama in 5+ years but they used to make awesome hand rolls, taking time to perfectly toast the nori for a nice slightly crispy texture. I used to go there and order 20 hand rolls.

All things considered Goyemon is my current favorite. They are very consistent. Their nigiri sushi comes in weirdly small pieces but it's AYCE so you can just order extra.

I can see why Jjanga would be a top recommendation. They do most things fairly well and have premium items (like spicy tuna with crispy rice) on the AYCE menu. I personally think their fish quality is a half step down from Goyemon.

Hikari is a full step down from the restaurants above but they offer AYCE sashimi, something I've never seen elsewhere. So if you like sashimi they might be worth checking out.

There was a time when Oyshi on Rainbow was a contender but the last three times I went the sushi was awful. I'm not sure what happened to them.

Just as someone that lives within walking distance of Oyshi, I have always been quite happy with them. They have a number of specials everyday that the waiters don't mind giving you mulitple orders, and just for the salmon belly alone I think they are worth it. I would add that a number of these trips have been clouded by drinks from before and after, but if I can get a bunch of salmon belly nigiri I am always happy.

Per the Wynn website the Sunday brunch is still going on.

Bardot Brasserie is another good one. If you at all like sweets/pastries with your brunch their almond french toast is pure heaven. It's this big square carbo-bomb that looks like the love child of an almond pastry and the honey toast from Ichiza.

will be with a group of six or so headed to Chada Thai (not street) on a Friday or Saturday night next month. are reservations recommended? based on the personalities in this group it would be easiest to have some scheduling freedom.

It's not usually super packed at dinner but a reservation that you cancel or miss can't hurt. Schedule it for :30-:60 after you think you'll get there if you think you might be late. Being early to a rez won't be an issue. Chada gets packed late.

Are there any top notch coffee shops within in a reasonable distance to Aria? I saw a well reviewed place in Monte Carlo, but they are currently closed. Starbucks and Jean Philippe do not count.

Also looking for rec's for restaurants on the strip that have plenty of gluten free options.

Going next week to Nove Italiano at the Palms.

Never been and had two questions if anyone has eaten there.

1. How formal is it? If I am wearing shorts and a collared shirt, would that be acceptable for dinner?

2. I'm not a big Italian food fan, and would rather order a steak. They have a few different steaks on the menu, and would like to hear any recommendations.

I didn't try the steak, but they'll let you in if you're wearing shorts. I would feel very out of place in shorts personally, but whatever floats your boat

Ordering a steak is not a bad move at all. As I recall the best things about Nove are the view and their steaks.

Like Canoe said they won't kick you out for wearing shorts. But you'll be the only person wearing shorts. Even if you went to KFC you'd be the only person wearing shorts, it's cold out! Some nights it's been dipping down into the 30s
