I've had both. I think that it's pretty comparable for the most part and Giordanos is worth going to in Vegas. It's a fairly affordable food option on the strip and can fill a lot of people up for a low price. Pretty solid IMO.

Can anyone recommend where I can get some good seafood, like a grilled salmon, seared scallops, swordfish, etc.?

Also

Any nice tapas places?

King’s Fish House in the District was always pretty good in my experience. Bonefish grill not so much.

Jaleo is def your best bet on the strip for some tapas, although it is not cheap.

Actually went to Jaleo before a concert last night. The food is quite good, and some things like the chicken fritters or the caviar tacos are really great, but man the prices are tough to stomach after I lived in DC within walking distance of another Jaleo where the prices were close to half as expensive. If I spend 100 bucks on food, I do expect to be full, and really wasn't.

I enjoyed Jaleo both times I've been, but I agree the prices are quite steep (and they've gone up at least once since I've last been). I like Julian Serrano at Aria a lot more in many ways: larger menu, more relaxed atmosphere, lower bill at the end. Plus, doesn't Jaleo serve something in a shoe? No thanks.

Yes the chicken fritters are served in a shoe! Why? Who the hell knows? I dont think anything else is really served in an odd way besides those (fried chicken pot pies are delicious though)

Exactly my experience as well. Always has been expensive but now it looks kinda outrageous. Decided not to go back.

Food is very good but that’s mostly because of high quality ingredients and not because the kitchen works any sort of magic.

A couple of days before Christmas we went to a Spanish restaurant that a friend owns. First course was a huge plate of Pata Negra that I probably couldn’t afford at Jaleo prices even if it was the only thing for me to eat all day.

Sorry, Giordanos is not even in top 10 for me Chicago or Las Vegas. Nothing against it, just not anything special imo. Then again, not a fan of deep dish.

Pizza ?

For best Chicago-style chain in Las Vegas, imo, try Rosati's Pizza

Pizza Rock downtown was good the times I went there,

even though, as a Chicago native, it pains me greatly to admit it, Grimaldis is quite good.

Aurelio’s is the best Chicago pizza in Vegas but it’s thin crust.

Giordono’s is stuffed crust which is an important distinction from deep dish. Basically a different thing. The one in Bally’s is the real thing and totally fine.

Rosati’s is ok but is bottom tier Chicago deep dish and their thin crust simply isn’t as good as Aurelio’s.

Grimaldi’s is great. So is Metro.

No one ever listened to me and tried Old School Pizzeria in North Las Vegas. Order by the slice as in my experience it’s far better than whole pie. It’s absolutely phenomenal and maybe the best pizza I’ve ever had. Vegas has tons of great pizza though. I like all that have been mentioned. People also love Settebello and call it the best in Las Vegas but while I like it, I think it’s bougie, haughty pizza that’s more of what you would expect of actual Italian from Italy pizza than pizza we all recognize here.

I've been there once with Mat and it was very good.

I've personally found that ordering by the slice is a lot like ordering a whole pie except that you get one slice instead of a whole pie.

Pizza Rock by-the-slice from the window outside used to be better than the whole pie inside, which isn't a knock on the whole pie. Haven't been there in close to a year.

Pizza by the slice is different.

Exactly, it’s different. When you get just one slice they throw it in the oven and it’s structure is better than it is when you get a whole pie and tear it apart. Each slice in that scenario is flimsier and floppier and for my money, I would rather just order a couple slices (which are enormous) then get a whole pie when the slices from the pie won’t be as good.

I’ve been there about four times since it was brought up in this thread, typically dinner with the wife before a movie at galaxy cannery. Love it!
Their garlic knots and antipasto salad are good too.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Can anyone recommend the best AYCE Sushi place near, or just off, the Strip?

Also, I have a 2-for-1 pass for Wicked Spoon buffet at Cosmo..so $45 for 2 people.

I heard Wicked Spoon has some very good sushi choices..so would that be a better option than going to a good AYCE Sushi place near, or just off, the strip?

Don't need the crazy, super authentic stuff..just mostly tasty crab, shrimp, salmon, tuna type dragon rolls, and such, and possibly yakitori, tempura, etc.

Thanks for any info..
