Just checked out Japaniero for the first time. Really awesome food for being open at 1:30am. I am not sure any of the sauces or preparations were unique, but they were really well done. I mostly ordered from the happy hour menu that contained a lot of great deals. They had a rock shrimp dish that a lot of places make similarly and I am a fan of the spicy sauce, the gyazo was simple and perfect for late night foods, and one of the best things I had was a large scallop jalapeno sashimi preparation. The key part was eat to it first or the subtle flavors would be overwhelmed by things like the rock shrimp. The only miss for me were the lettuce cod and chilean sea bass wraps which had very little flavor. I also had the lamb chops from the regular menu which were perfectly done. Not sure I would drive back during regular hours, but the happy hour prices were great, and the service was excellent for so late

I'm going to be staying at the Cosmopolitan over labor day weekend, any recommendations for a ramen place on the strip?

I know you asked for strip, but really the play is just to uber to Monta or Sora.

The only ramen I know of on strip is the $18 ramen at momofuku at Cosmo. It is delicious, and same price as two $5 ubers + $8 ramen in Chinatown

I haven't been to Momofuku but I will 2nd this suggestion. I'm a huge Monta Ramen fan, but the time and money saved travelling will outweigh the lower prices of Chinatown. Plus I love dining in Cosmo restaurants for the atmosphere.

Has anyone tried Snow white on Jones Blvd across from 168 market?

Its says deserts and coffee

Yes. They have good coffee - Stumptown maybe? I prefer the "snow" at snowflake shavery in the shopping center with Monta, but you can't go wrong with either.

By the way the shopping center w snow white is the nuts: Hachi, Chada, District One, Q karaoke, Q bistro, China Mama, Ramen Tatsu, Chubby Cattle, ...

Thanks, I'm actually going to be all over Vegas for work, so I'll definitely check them out.

Not sure if this place has been mentioned before but the wife and I went to Viva Las Arepas on our trip to Vegas last month and it was outstanding. Got the wood fired beef Arepa and an empanada. She had been there with my daughters before but somehow I'd never been. Will definitely be back. Went to the location in the shadow of the Stratosphere. Didn't realize there was a second location on Charleston & Rainbow which would have been way more convenient.

VlA has definitely been mentioned, and is universally liked.

Thinking of heading over to Fish King Grill tomorrow for a bowl of crawfish chowder and either a po boy or one of the southern favorites - probably creole pasta alfredo. Anyone here checked it out yet? Looks like it's been open about two months now.

Also planning on doing an extended AYCE sushi run pretty soon. I figure every other day for about two weeks straight should cover most of the contenders. Current run list in no particular order looks like this:

oyshi
goyemon
sakana
jjanga
sushi mon
sushi kaya
yama sushi
umiya sushi
sushi way

and cap things off with a non-AYCE option, but the best of the best: kabuto

Might need to break that up and do a two week block going every other night, then another two week block later on for the next seven. Still need to add in 4 more to get to 14.

Love your commitment, looking forward to the ratings.

Personally I was (and in honesty it's been a couple of years) deeply disappointed by goyemon both on fish quality and service, but swear instead to sushi koma. I don't eat rolls at ayce, but koma's nigiri has consistently been very good qual with good service.

IMHO Yui is worth the added cost over Kabuto, if you haven't been there yet.

Took a friend to Lotus who had never been...we ordered $150 worth of food because he wanted to try so much. That place is still awesome.

Not sure if this matters, but Jjanga lost its liquor license. Food is actually still great and service has improved, but if someone in your party requires sake with their sushi, you're **** outta luck.

Wife and I hit Maggiano's at the Fashion Show Mall after a bit of shopping. Fried zucchini, chicken and pepper flatbread, glass of wine for her and a Peroni for me.

Better than I was expecting - ate at the bar, and the service was very good.

I think you're right. If nothing else, they're both pretty cheap.

Oh man, I just moved and Goyemon is literally a block east of me. This could be dangerous
