Guess who’s back, back again!

Figured I’d get the ball rolling as it’s less than 3 weeks for my next trip. Like the last one this one will also be work related, but obviously with a ton of poker and other stuff during the two full week trip.

Plan was to share a room with PLO friend who’s been in Vegas for the past 4 weeks but sadly he had a minor medical emergency and had to travel home today. It sucks obviously but health comes first, especially when you are grinding for a living.

Anyway, where were we? Regarding the trip itself, I had a ton of saved up miles so I’m flying Virgin Atlantic through Heathrow like last time, with a nice little 6 hour layover and will be landing around 6:30 pm Vegas time on the 12th.

Since I lost my Platinum status I had to book a bunch of different hotels to make it work but whatever, it’s fine. Will be staying at Paris, Park MGM, Paris again and then back to Park MGM for essentially zero $.

An old friend of mine is flying in after a few days and we have a couple of restaurant bookings already so looking forward to that.

Until then, thread saver from PLO friend who at least ran pretty decent at the 1/2 PLO tables:

Too bad I'll be leaving this weekend and won't be able to witness the crushage.

Isn't your employer supposed to pay for flight and lodging?

It’s a bit complicated but the short answer is no. I’m self employed so at least I can write it off from my annual tax, including airplane tickets, food for two weeks and hotel.

Yep, it’s awesome being self employed for stuff like that. Not sure that all of it would hold up to huge scrutiny but my flights, hotels and cabs are work expenses on my Vegas trips too. Food can be too but sadly not alcohol

That’s okay, I’m doing a dry couple of months anyway. But have booked Bazaar meat at Sahara second week so will definitely be a few restaurant bills!

Hopefully a profitable and fun trip for MuckPls!

I sadly won't join him this time around, as I am going with my brother in May instead (there will be TR, obviously).

Ah, I used to deduct a couple trips a year for investing conventions.

I really REALLY hope so. As you know I’m in the middle of a 5 figure downswing since coming back from Vegas and currently absolutely hating life.

Also there is still time to book Vegas last minute?

It's ok, a 5 figure downswing digout is only two flags won at blackjack, totally doable for you! Especially at Park, HL blackjack starts at $100 and there's some decent whiskey in there!

Haha I’m tempted but promised myself not to touch VP or BJ this trip. I’d like to focus on cash games, good food and work. I have a ton of hours to grind the first week to reach Gold so can’t be distracted.

Waived resort fees for this and next year. Already have 80 hours, need 70 more. Should be doable in a week or so.

Whoa, that's substantial. I have a Gold Mlife CARD, probably no actual status at all. I think all the old status matches got canceled.

You're going to play 70 hours in a WEEK? I wonder if I can scrounge enough cash to enable me to lose at my typical rate and still last for 70 hours. Maybe I should do an El Diesel style challenge and see how far I can get.

I have zero issues with long hours. During my January trip my longest session was 16 hours after which I felt a bit groggy. But 10 hours a day for 7 days for me is just a warmup. Back when I was playing for a living ages ago the longest sessions were around 35-36 hours

Btw if you have a Gold Mlife card that is valid then you should be Gold status?

I can handle the time, for one day at least. I did 15 hours at Caesars just to see if I could earn 500 tier credits in one day and get a bonus. Sitting for long hours I can probably handle, my concern is more whether I would run out of money before I got the 70 hours.

I don't know. Mlife may be defunct, the MGM website showed "MGM Rewards" on it's website, just like CET, lol.
