Holy hell was yesterday full of action. Saturday poker in Vegas is always my favorite. There's plenty of people in town, more drinking and more action. And yesterday proved it true.
We started again in Grand Luxe and used comps to order breakfast. I again went with the chilequiles, but had them add some fresh jalapeños for a little extra kick. Not too hot, but just right. It was great fuel to start my day.
Then we headed over to the Wynn to play in their $550 tourney w/$100k guarantee. While waiting for it to start I tried a little VP.
I didn't do too well at VP, even though I won a few hands. I didn't really have time necessary and ended cashing out a little down.
The tourney started and I had a decent table with a mix of pros and rec players.
I had several flips go my way, with only one suckout when I was clearly behind, which allowed me to eventually make it into the money for an approx $900 payout!
Not shown is dinner during the break at Encore's Allegro where I had the bruschetta and lobster mac and cheese type dish.
After busting out I went over to their cash room and eventually sat at a 2-5 table.
Side story - at one point I watched my name drop in the 30 deep list and asked them why - to which they said there must have been call-ins, and then they bumped me back up.
My table was plenty of fun with good action. Several $2kish stacks.
Sitting to my right was a very friendly Romanian model who was in town for work and learning to play poker. Her husband was sitting at the other end, repeatedly giving her another $300 to reload after getting felted several times. Having position on her was fun, and we kept sweating one another (get your mind out of there). At one point, a drunk bro walked over from another table and started rapping with her, asked her to grab a drink and she declined. Later he even table changed and ended up sitting next to her husband (the facts he was her husband was unbeknown to said drunk bro), and he kept trying to pick her up until they finally left. In this pic, the husband is wearing black:
Now to the action. I had only played two or three hands, none of which included any action. Then I'm on the button with AQss, sitting about $1200 deep, and I've straddled the button to 10.
Villain in MP raises 40. V appears (just based on my gut feel) to be competent, and has about 1200 behind. Girl to my right calls. Standard move here, so I 3bet to 120ish. MP reraised to 275. Girl folds. Since I have position and we're deep I call. I didn't come to Vegas to fold, amirite?
Board flops 8s2c5c, so I flop a nut flush draw, redraw to the straight flush, and two overs. Time to saddle up boys and girls!
IIRC, V bets about 275, I raise big, and V gets all upset asking if I'm on a draw blah blah, and shoves. I instacall obviously. Here's a pic of the result:
V mucked and got upset and left the table. MHIG!
After that hand I went card dead and ended up leaving the table for a while. When I came back, this was my first hand:
My stack hadn't changed much and I'm sitting on about 2200. IIRC, It folds to the girl in MP who min raises to 20. I raise 80 with AKss. V in SB calls. V has me covered and appeared to be very TAGish. Here's where it gets a bit nutty...
The girl - like she did many times - turned and asked me what to do. I jokingly said "shove your chips into the middle", and then in broken English said "ok I put all chips in", and put in additional 120. I was shocked because for a second I thought she took me seriously and thought she had to do it. Quickly I realized that my face made me look weak to the UTG player and I was worried about a big reraise if I popped it, since we're 450+bb deep and I'm not a fan of coin flips that deep. So I called, preparing to respond to a raise since that's the smart move for him to make in response to my apparent weakness.
And on cue he raises 500 on top. Well now, hmm. I place him on 99-JJ. Maybe QQ, maybe A10suited+. I lean more towards 99-JJ though. I call.
Flop comes Kd2d7s. Now I know the money's going in since whatever I bet he'll have to consider me being on a draw because he saw my last big hand. He places a green stack of 500 onto the felt.
I announce all in, the table goes silent, and V gets pretty upset, tanking, asking me if I'm on a draw. At this point I know MHIG and that he's not on a draw. But it's obvious he wants to call. He eventually does, the board runs out:
V mucks and MHIG!!
The table broke shortly later, and for some reason I decided to go to Planet Hollywood to jack around in a drunk 1-2 game. You won't believe what I saw.
When I joined the table, there was a drunk Dutchman sitting on a monster 3k+ stack. Other players were telling me that he was just raising and getting it all in with trash and hitting. And it was true. While I was there I saw him get it in bad in multiple way pots and scoop over and over. My first hand with him resulted in trip Aces, we GII and he has a higher kicker and takes my chips. Damn.
I eventually moved to get position on him. Surely this will help.
But it went very badly for me. Everyone was trying to play every pot with him and we ended up hurting one another, since preflop action was so big, leaving everyone with one psb on the flop. I went on to lose 4 buy-ins. First my top two is beaten by a set, then my QQ loses to AA. Then my boat loses to a bigger boat. And a flush to a bigger flush.
And the drunk Dutchman kept winning. At one point the floor cut off his drinking and he got upset and took all his chips to go take a break but said he'd come back. Which he did. With two hookers in tow!
Drunk Dutchman tells us that these "friends" of his we're kind enough to help him play slots since he was spilling his money everywhere. Seriously. The floor and entire table quickly intervenes and we get the hookers out of there.
He buys back in. He's using $100 chips because the floor made him color up since he was spilling his massive stack of red everywhere. But he eventually gets upset at being cut off and leaves. Here's his final stack - and remember this is at a 1-2 game with a max $300 buy-in:
Soon after, the table broke. Since the sun was now up, rather than move to another table, I called it quits and went to bed.
