Route travelled:

A note in advance: You might have noticed that the route travelled differs from the original itinerary. Reason being is that Mrs LAG caught a bug, hence we decided to cut the first leg of our trip short and head back to Vegas after seeing the Grand Canyon North Rim.

Obviously I'm a bit sad that we (and you) miss out on Sedona for the time being, but maybe we will head there at a later stage.

Grand Canyon North Rim Trip impressions:

Relaxing in the lobby of the Grand Canyon Lodge:

... and the obligatory shoe pic (the black shadow):

On the way back:

... And closing in on Vegas:

... to be continued...

Great pics and report! Beautiful scenery for sure.

Like the last pic too. I think Vegas is awesome but I'd take Dixie over Vegas any day of the week. ; )

06/03/2013 (Part 2 of 2)

Check-in at Caesars Palace, our home for the next 4 nights.

20 Dollar trick works, Roman Tower booked, got upgraded to Corner Room in Augustus Tower with nice view:

While Mrs LAG wad resting, I started my session at Caesars Palace:

Poker room is freezing cold and Wifi is not working either. Player pool is ok though, so I stick around. Stopped after the usual 2.5 hours and with a loss of 103 USD.

Next stop Bellagio, which is super cramped as usual. I like the room though and I do not share the voiced opinion on 2+2 that the poker room staff is arrogant. Friendly staff, good service and always good action. Just a little bit too cramped IMO.

Result: 441 USD / 2.5 hours

Off to Harrah's:

No Wifi, possibly the worst cappuccino I've ever had, but the highest ratio of middle aged middle class recreational players per table I've ever seen. Clocked out after 1.5 hours with 111 USD profit in order to get The Quad off my list. I will be back for sure.

Finally The Quad:

To be honest, I associate only bad things with this place. I stayed there on my last trip for a night, since my buddies were on a budget. Caught a super bug there and tried to recover for the next two weeks on our road trip then.

Plus the clientele of that joint is mostly, how should I put it, the caliber of this gentleman here:

The room is situated in a corner and has only 4 tables in total. They only spread one 0.5/1 NL game when I came. A lot of commotion at the table: in the 10 minutes I waited for a seat two players got 86'd. To top it off, the floor clearly hates his life. Not friendly at all, but to be honest, I would get grumpy as well, if I had to work there.

On the plus side: the refurbishment of the casino floor is really well done compared to the old IP. Everything looks modern and clean (in contrast to the crowd). Managed to stay there for 30 minutes and left with 77 profit. Was glad to leave.

And with that, my friends, the list is complete. Here the chips from all places played:

And, of course, here the cash game results up to and including 06/03/2013:

Excellent TR. Noticing some trend in your stats graph, seems you lost the most at the least desireable poker rooms (Flamingo, Riviera, Excal, Luxor). Keep it to busy rooms OP.

Ty. Started trip in Dubai, hence the long duration to get to Vegas.

Quite hot, but still bearable. Having said that, I'm used to high temperatures having lived in the Middle East for the last 7 years now.

Ty. Having seen the Grand Canyon now from both sides (north and south), I prefer the North Rim to be honest. Less crowded and you can chill at the Grand Canyon Lodge when tired while still enjoying breathtaking views. South Rim doesn't give one that option.

Aria is a great room. Super service and friendly staff. Field can be tough though. If you are a super nit and want to bum hunt, I suggest Mandalay Bay. If you are as laggy as me, PH might be your first choice due to 10 USD button straddle at 1-2 nl.

I trust hotel safes, I would not trust hotel staff to not enter your room when you have do not disturb sign on your door. Happened at Aria, had cash in safe though but had my laptop running and connected to company network at that point, while getting a coffee from downstairs. Was slightly surpised that somebody entered my room but nothing was missing and laptop was not touched according to keylogger. Still unnerving.

... Facing the ugly side of variance...

Started my day at the Bellagio, things went normal at first, but I faced a sudden downturn after a failed triple barrel bluff against a 50 years+ villain, who didn't want to lay down mid pair obviously...

Annoyed at my mistake, I played my C-Game after that... I remember one hand in which I flopped top two (10-8-2 rainbow) and got quite obviously counterfeited on the river (10-8-2-Q-Q) and I stupidly still bet when checked to. I obviously could only get called by a better hand, which apparently happened (villain showed JJ)... Bellagio session: 2.5 hours, -1006 USD

Off to Harrah's, hoped for a better results, table was pretty 'meh' though and I decided to change venues after 2.5 hours and a whopping profit of 61 USD.

Final stop of the day was the Mirage. Ugly session in which I got coolered twice (flopped nut straight and got beat by runner runner full house each time) and then proceeded to donk off cash due to tilt... 2.5 hours, -1019 USD.

Worst day yet, not happy at all, total 7.5 hours played, result -1964 USD.

Decided to play the DSE noon event at Venetian (1600 USD NL):

Went to Venetian early in order to play some cash games before.

Cash game session before tournament: 2 hours, -300 USD.

Busted tournament in level 6, only two noteworthy hands: in level 3 I lost 60% of my stack with KK vs AA and the final hand, which was a 4bet-shove from me on the button with A9s vs 3bet from BB. Pretty standard IMO, got called by AQ which held up.

Proceeded straight to cash game area after bust out, which was an obvious mistake, and spewed away 300 USD quickly by again triple barreling against a calling station, who called my oversized river bet with a only straight on a board with 4 diamonds... Fml...

Took some time off after that to have dinner and went back to Caesars Palace. Played there 9.5 hours and clocked out with a profit of 1089 USD.

Total 12 hours played, 689 USD profit.

After going on a shopping spree with Mrs LAG (she finally recovered from her bug) at the Premium Outlet Mall (North),

I started my poker day at the Venetian (2.5 hours, -349 USD), after which I went on to play a very swingy session at the Wynn (6 hours, - 214 USD) and ended my day at Caesars again with a very nice result (3 hours, 1009 USD profit).

My P+L curve has certainly the right direction again, but I do not like the high variance coming with. Being a good LAG doesn't necessarily mean needing to chase coin-flip situations IMO, which I clearly did lately. I seem to be -at least subconsciously- still on tilt from the last downswing. I'll have to work on that.

Total 11.5 hours played, 446 USD profit.

If you're only play 1/2 1/3 you're way above expectation. I wouldn't worry about things evening out. No one makes $30/hour long term...

Pictures are really really great keep it up.
