Woke up at noon. Mrs LAG was supposed to land at LAS at 2.45pm, so no other option than to join the Aria 1-3 NL game and wait for her arrival.
As she arrived at the hotel she signalled that she needed to rest and gave me the thumbs up to grind until dinner.
Uneventful session while playing my A-game: 416 USD profit, 5.5 hours played.
Up to the room, but Mrs LAG bailed on our dinner plans since jet lag was catching up with her.
This gave me the opportunity to check out the properties on the North strip, namely Circus Circus and Riviera.
Since there was no NL game going at Circus Circus (I checked out the poker room on arrival and left my number with the staff since there was a list of 3 players who wanted to play NL - at that time they only spread 3-6 Limit), I headed to the Riviera:
To be honest, I experienced one of the most depressing sessions of my entire poker life there:
Only one table was open when I arrived, filled half with some young Euros, who were obviously taking advantage of the poker room rate there.
The lack of a shuffling machine made the game incredibly slow and the lack of dead money made it -EV.
From my point of view the most depressing part was actually the place itself. The whole casino had the feeling of a place past it's time. It literally felt like being in a time warp if you know what I mean. Also, the outside area is quite run down as well - I didn't feel safe in front of the casino (weird people walking around there at that time of the evening - haven't seen one tourist)
Session report: I managed to drop 300 USD in standard situations and decided to leave after 1.5 hours. I shall never return.
I made my way straight across the street to Circus Circus...
...only to learn that the poker room was now totally empty.
Pic of poker room when I left my phone number with staff:
Pic of poker room 1.5 hours later (10.30pm):
In reference to my task list, I hereby announce that the task "playing at Circus Circus" is officially completed with 0 hours played and 0 profit, since I have no intention to return to this area of the strip.
Because I still had some time to spare without Mrs LAG getting pissed off, I decided to head for the Wynn.
The Wynn poker room is located a bit off the main casino area in a hallway, but still gets enough traffic. It is not uncommon that random guests of the Wynn (read: wealthy) to try this poker thing. However there are already sufficient regs picking them up, but the reg to fish ratio is still healthy IMO.
I like the room: friendly staff, very good dealers, good games. And: the fastest free internet of any poker room on the strip (we are talking 24 Mbit+ compared to 256kb at the Aria for example).
Stopped playing at the Wynn after 2.5 hours with 698 USD profit.
