gobbo,

i don't know what your goal is with these, but i would strongly recommend making 6-7 minute videos that contain actual video footage of the food you are eating. this could very easily have been a podcast or even an article. if you don't want to conduct the review at the table (which i'd understand), then you could do a voice over later with your final thoughts. no one is watching a full 21 minute video of you sat in a dark car other than grando and a handful of people in this thread.

Yeah I think it went way long for sure. Podcast is reasonable idea. Gonna have to rethink the direction.

to be clear, i don't think a podcast is a good idea (people want to see food!). i just meant that what you actually created in this instance gained nothing from being a video.

i enjoyed the rambling style. you guys were honest and informative. take more pics of food so you have more options when you put your vid together.

you have a natural and relaxed delivery on-camera. sub'd

Totally agree with yeti. Honestly I didn't realize it was 21 minutes (mostly cause I didn't watch it all) but I'm liking the visual effects and texts and, as mentioned, you seem to have a flair for the camera.

I think this episode was a long one because Jimmy needed to do some setup and introduction that won't be present in future reviews. Once the time is brought down, and experience produces a smoother presentation, this will be a really good video series. A few more food shots, and maybe avoiding the car, would also be a boost.

Overall, I liked it, and believe that it is just going to get better and better.

I enjoyed it, like others have mentioned, you're good in front of the camera. Keep at it and take into consideration the issues mentioned above and I expect we'll see rapid improvement and a growing audience. Looking forward to seeing more.

Don't know how hard this would be and/or if the restaurant would allow it, but it would be cool if you could shoot at the table with each person using their camera to film from their view and then you could edit the back and forth conversation from each cameras perspective into the final video....probably too tedious to do

Yeah, I don't think filming in the restaurant will do, especially if it's going to be a negative review for some places. The car is honestly the best place I have to do the filming without springing for a pretty expensive camera/microphone setup. I use my phone which has a very good camera but not a good microphone. In the car, the audio is decent and the picture will improve when I figure out better lighting.

I'll definitely try to take more pictures in the future and see if I can put in more video components, that seems to be universal which is understandable.

You did a damn good job for it being your first published video.

A little long for me. I don't think the car is that big of a problem as long as you take a lot of pics and other video of food/restaurant. Then you can edit it together and cut from the car often to pics/video with voiceover. You did that a little bit but it was way too much of two guys in a car. I think that would make it much more watchable.

The background light was bright, which makes the camera reduce the aperture. If you can get it where the light is more even overall, like do your recording with the car in the direct sunlight, or in a parking garage, it should work better.

Maybe a few of the inside of the restaurant itself.

i agree with the feedback above, and i also suggest not positioning the camera in a way that cuts your compadre's face in half.

The nice thing about pictures is that you can hear a checklist going in of all the pictures you'll be taking (front door/menu/parking lot/actual food/etc) and use that template for every episode
