[QUOTE=Donk Dunc;53917924]Early position player, who on the hand before had been sucked out on in a $700 pot, opens for $12 and gets 5 callers before it gets to me in the SB. I have 45cc and figure it might be a good spot to squeeze, so make it $65. Both the pre-flop raiser and the first caller call and I’m now not putting anything in this pot unless I get a dream flop.

The flop is far from ideal. It’s AAJ with no clubs and I’m now done with the hand. I check, but both other players also check. Turn is a 6 and I’m still not putting any more chips in this pot. They both check behind.

River is a 7 and I’m now thinking neither of them has an ace, and probably not a jack and if I had an ace or AK, I might also check flop and turn. So, no need to bluff too big - I can make this look like a value bet, and it’s gonna be hard for a hand like 88 or 99 to call me and KQ will fold straight away. My stab of $70 got two folds.

wow oh deary me not sure if you're after analysis for this one or if ur just merely acknowledging that you got away with murder... murdering half of ur stack that is but i'll give my 2 cents anyway;

Pre- EP open despite possible steaming, with 5 callers is pure madness to squeeze this hand. for one you are never getting a fold as u implied raiser may be steamed and plus he is opening EP! second, secondly you are going to have to play this hand OOP and you are going to be overbluffing way too many flops in hoping he folds to ur cbet OR hope to flop some sort of a draw and get it in (u didnt mention stack depth so assuming u have between 100-200BB). EP open with that many callers u can justify a call... or make a very tight and correct fold but its live poker so just call ffs. if it was opened from CO/BTN yes its fine to 3b this at a low freq.

Flop & Turn- like flop check think ur checking essentially ur whole range, turn i lean towards a bet as if u did have an ace or JJ u do want to build a pot. Also can bet small sizing with KK,QQ or a J if u have AJ/KJss, and as u are betting ur value range on the turn it means that u should also be betting your bluffs as well, 1/3 pot sizing.

River- your xxb line is making ur hand look like quads or a house essentially like super nutted which is interesting in itself coz a) that is not a good thing if u make ur hands so polarised as you cant build pots with value otherwise... b) if ur going to rock up with pure air on river you're bluffing too much and Js are going to sigh call plus u can also run into it sometimes as well. given the way u played said hand yes i river bets fine altho depends on ppl in the pot and if u think they can ever fold a J coz they should be checking Js on the turn alot. it is not an issue to check and give up on the pot in this hand. last sidenote- ultimate sicko move would be to go for a xraise on river... food for thought

hope trips going well, cant wait for WC to start tho my god i'm excited pundits are rating the aussies chances of making it out of the group which is about as optimistic as u were this hand

Thanks for the insights but not really looking for hand analysis in a trip report. Acknowledging I got away with murder in a butchered hand was enough.

Aussies will do well to escape Russia with a -10 goal difference.

I love it when people chase their gutshots against me when I have an overpair.

I hate it when they get there.

#mustbenice

In other news, we’re playing the tag team event at the Golden Nugget. Watbri’s rungood ended when his AK was rivered by A3 on an ace high flop, meaning he handed over half the original stack. My rungood kicked in when a villain tried to bluff me off aces on a JJ46J board.

Over to Watbri to look after the chips better this time

Tag team events have a unique party atmosphere. Hoodies, sunglasses and earphones are most definitely not welcome here

So this is a poker tournament a little different to others. Lots of club, pub and poker home games playing this event and it can be painfully slow at times. There is also a lot of drinking going on around the room.

Players seem to be overvaluing their hands a little more than usual too, especially in a tournament. One player busted QJ to QQ on a J high board, calling off 20 BBs on the river. And another player jammed 30 BBs (2x pot) in a limped pot after the river on a T5243 board and was snap called. Both had an ace (Both had A8) and neither had a 6, or had even considered the possibility the other might have had one.

The structure is fast though so we may not be able to hang around for long before having to do the same.

Busto. Never really got above average stack and with the fast structure, we ended up shoving a lot of hands. Got a lot of folds too until they caught on. When they did catch on though, my J2 button shove was called in the BB by 67

J high flop. Turn 7, river 7. The last of it went when Watbri’s A6 couldn’t outrun pocket 9s.

Fun event and good value for the money.

And coming out to Fremont St is always a sensory uplift.

You two are making me miss it so bad.

Glad I left though. I would have died from sleep deprivation in a few more days.
