Poker was unkind yesterday. Although to be fair to poker, it was down to me playing like an idiot.
I gave up about 2pm, grabbed a couple of hours of shuteye and then headed to the airport to meet my brother. Asked the taxi driver to drop me at International Arrivals rather than departures and when he tried to do so, an overly officious McCarron parking attendant told him he couldn’t do that and was writing the cabbie up for a ticket. Another loop around the airport to departures and a very unhappy cabbie as a result.
My brother must have peaked on rungood already. He was upgraded for his flight whilst others had been downgraded due to overbooking, and he also got an e-mail from Aria saying he had been upgraded to a suite. That meant a super fast check-in, no need for the $20 trick, and a quietly smug brother. That rungood came to a swift end when we paid what was effectively $100 a drink at the pai gow table
This morning I am again up early, but with good reason for a change. We have an early tee-off at Bali Hai and I’ll be doing everything I can to put my brother off when he is putting to win a hole. Winning a $1 from him is like $2 from anyone else.
