Jetlag is still showing me who the boss is by waking me up at 3.45am. After an unsuccessful effort to put that bastard in its place, I find myself at Earl of Sandwich for breakfast and drinking a grande from Trooper’s favourite beverage retailer. The plan today is to play some very untaxing poker in Planet Hollywood whilst the caffeine takes hold, and then probably jump over to the Aria. But the highlight will be seeing my brother later on - he is due to land just after 7pm tonight and to say I’m looking forward to seeing him would be the dictionary definition of understatement.

Run good everyone that is still firing in the Colossus, and safe flight Donk Dunc’s Bro!

Planet Hollywood is the nut game if you're waking up at 4am imo. Early morning straggler games are live, 3 hours play after 5am gets you a buffet (not the best in Vegas by far but hey it's free breakfast when you're done) and comps count at Earl of Sandwich. Win win win for me!

Very true. There was two tables yesterday morning and one of them. Had blind all-ins going on for full stacks. 3 players were feeding the frenzy, 6 others hoping to run true, and most from my table asking for a table change!

Poker was unkind yesterday. Although to be fair to poker, it was down to me playing like an idiot.

I gave up about 2pm, grabbed a couple of hours of shuteye and then headed to the airport to meet my brother. Asked the taxi driver to drop me at International Arrivals rather than departures and when he tried to do so, an overly officious McCarron parking attendant told him he couldn’t do that and was writing the cabbie up for a ticket. Another loop around the airport to departures and a very unhappy cabbie as a result.

My brother must have peaked on rungood already. He was upgraded for his flight whilst others had been downgraded due to overbooking, and he also got an e-mail from Aria saying he had been upgraded to a suite. That meant a super fast check-in, no need for the $20 trick, and a quietly smug brother. That rungood came to a swift end when we paid what was effectively $100 a drink at the pai gow table

This morning I am again up early, but with good reason for a change. We have an early tee-off at Bali Hai and I’ll be doing everything I can to put my brother off when he is putting to win a hole. Winning a $1 from him is like $2 from anyone else.

Can you post some pics from the golf course? Is it still in pretty good shape?
Top notch report as always Donk Dunc!

Looks like.....
a) My brother’s rungood hadn’t peaked
b) He can afford to lose at golf
c) The are some hidden advantages to his jetlag

God that's a lethal hand on a button straddle.

Oops, quoted the wrong post... Meant for the KK on the button straddle.

Enjoying your TR, hope you enjoy your brother time. Sounds like you have a solid trip lined up.

Golf at Bali Hai was very good. Well, the course was good; very picturesque and also very close to the Strip). The standard of our golf was indifferent and despite there being a few hundred up for grabs, it ended with just the handover of $10. Getting stuck in the bunker on the 18th meant the final money went in the wrong direction.

“Wrong direction”? Not from where i’m sitting. And let’s not forget the satisfaction multiplier from taking money from a family member. Especially an older sibling. Safe to say it’s been a good day.

Donk Dunc & Watbri TRs are always enough to get me in. Bonus appearance from Bro, this is shaping up nicely.

An hour and 20 at the MGM $1/$2 whilst waiting for luckbox brother, and some of his luckboxing skills seem to have rubbed off. In for $300.....

I did hit one set, two nut flushes, a full house and an overpair that held so I ran very well

Duncan,

Any chance you want to meetup at one of the poker rooms tonight around 10pm or possibly get some supper at California Pizza Kitchen (one of those near the strip, my treat, or at Snacks at Bellagio. I can be ther about 45 minutes after you let me know something. I put in a some marathon sessions between Bellagio and Aria night and haven’t eaten in almost 48 hours. Just PM me here.

your bluff is very optimistic given it's multi way and PFR bets and gets a caller, even tho we do hold two 5s which are very good blockers this is low stakes live poker and a big OP is soooo rarely getting folded and most of the time they're just gonna jam over the top on the flop...

that being said your q of 'do i normally get a fold from 9s in this spot'

there shouldve been a hole in the ****ing table at how quickly 9s shouldve hit the muck. i can only try to explain to u how atrocious stacking off here with 9s is. u have so few bluffs and have all the sets, straights and some 2p as well. u may also just be going full ****** with JJ/10s as well.

your plays not great given how wide everyones ranges are multiway but the call off with 9s is heinous.

“Optimistic” is probably a good way of describing the play, especially on the flop. If she had jammed over my flop raise, I can fold easily. When she didn’t, and then checked the turn to me when I picked up more outs, and if I think I still have some fold equity, a jam seemed optimal.

Thanks for sharing your analysis.

Here’s a strange one for you guys......

During the short session at MGM yesterday, clearly I ran well and accumulated chips quickly. In one hand, I had cbet a flopped flush draw and been led into by an OMC when my flush got there on the turn. I flatted in position, not wanting to give him a chance to fold, and then raised his river bet, which he called. There was no table chatter between us at all.

Anyway, when leaving the table, OMC was buying more chips (the hand against him was a couple of orbits before) and the dealer asked me for chips for him. No problem - I counted out the $200 and pushed it across. OMC then went very strange - he counts his $200 cash below the table and then scrunches up the two crisp and new $100 bills as much as possible before throwing them to the dealer. This took a good 30 seconds. There’s a few wtf faces around the table and I said to him “Why would you do that?”

His reply was “You’re lucky I didn’t spit in them”. I was too surprised by the sudden left field outburst from an OMC that had said nothing at the table until that point, to say anything in response at all. And it had been a friendly, chatty table as well.

There’s some strange cats in poker.......

Last night was a relaxed evening of gambling with my brother. We held our own at pai gow for a few hours and a quite a few drinks, and then got quickly beaten up at the Caesars blackjack tables. As hoped for, it was great to hang with Donk Dunc’s Bro.

Today is tournament day. Gonna hit the Golden Nugget and play the triple draw mixer whilst my brother goes shopping for his kids and wife. I expect my time in the tournament will be over quicker than his shopping expedition as I have only played 2-7 TD out of the three games in this tournament. But, looking forward to playing a bit of A5 and Badugi for the experience.

Will let you know how atrociously I screw up some hands later on.

In my best Rodney Dangerfield voice I would have said “no respect, no respect” or you could have just thrown his hot coffee in his face......either are poker etiquette acceptable
