Snow is actually falling from the sky in a desert. Lots of sirens in the distance.

I've walked through snow before, but I've never actually had it fall on me.

Are you confusing inches with centimeters?

No, it is really snowing pretty good there. (Not so much across town in Henderson.)

Yep, coming down good on the West side of LV. When tourists ask me why I moved here, the usual reason I give is that I was sick of the snow in New England.

you guys might be too young to remember when Vegas had to cancel school because of a snow day. i think there's only a few plows for the whole city and they live up in the mountains.

it only takes a couple of inches to cause complete mayhem!

Over the holidays, I’ve witnessed African refugees encounter snow for the first time in their life. That was really cool.

That reminded me of an embarrassing situation when I was a kid and somebody told me they never had seen snow. I asked why they weren’t going on family skiing trips which made his and my parents visibly uncomfortable and led to an extended talk at home later.

Especially in parts of the country where snow is very rare, people easily overestimate the amount. I think official numbers for LV range from 1 to 1.5 inches, depending on the part of town?

Even in parts if the country where snow is common, this regularly occurs #fakeweathernews

It could be an over estimation or it could be correct too. I believe most official amounts are from one standard place, usually an airport or something, but it is not uncommon for there to be a large variance in snow fall from relatively short distances apart. I know it snowed recently here and I live 10 miles south of my work and had 1.5-2 inches of snow, whereas a few people that live 10-15 miles north of work had 5+ inches.

Also, the official amount that fell could be 1.5 inches, but due to drifts there could be spots where it is much deeper than that.

I had tickets to the 2008 Las Vegas Bowl. I was sick as a dog, but I was planning to go anyway. Then a record snow storm hit Vegas and when I saw the pictures of it, I decided to watch it on tv.

nice and thin

but yeah the reports are always so much worse. 12-20" hide your kids! wake up to a dusting. anything under 6" isnt really noteworthy to me. also funny seeing these massive trucks slide trying to go and i just breeze on by.
