Shoes & half of trip BR (for gambling. food & other expenses separate). Plan on playing 5/T at the Bellagio seriously and hopefully run my A-game. 1/3 PLO @ the Aria is to spew it off, maybe try running $500 into $3000. The Venetian events are to keep myself occupied during afternoon hours while i wait for friends/family to finish their daily lives.

Also will be playing green-chip BJ at some point. Finally, a few grudge matches to take care of: will be playing my brother, on Christmas Eve, in a best of five: 100bb HUSNGs, 1-on-1 basketball to 11 (1s and 2s, have to end on a two, no offensive rebounding), madden, fifa, Halo 3 snipers only on guardian. Failure is unacceptable.

Greyhound pic will come approximately 10 minutes after I drive into town, Friday 12/22.

I keep my gambling money in a case for my glasses (think one of those sorta tube-shaped ones that snaps open and closed.) Not sure why anymore but it’s a habit

Made the 4:30 trip in just under 3:45 including a stop, my best time ever door to door...
except I didn’t end up at my door. At 2am local time I decided to make the fatal mistake of checking Bravo: 3 tables of 5/T at the Bellagio running, 0 wait list. I snap called and put my name in, running on a lot of fumes after work and the drive.

I show up at the B and the must-move is just breaking. I have to take a seat at 2/5 while I wait for 5/T to open up.

Potato quality pic after I win an early pot, but in for $500 initially. Some notable hands:

Hand 1: JJ in BB, $200 eff with both shortstacking villains.
UTG raise to $15, MP call, BTN call, I squeeze to $60, UTG call, BTN call.

Flop (Pot: $190) T74hh.
I lead for $130, UTG folds, BTN jams for like $30 more and I have to call. She flips over TT and walks to grab a rack as soon as the board runs out. Wonderful start to the trip.

Hand 2: Black AA on the button. Folds to me, I raise to $20. both blinds fold.

I lose a couple pots on c-bets that get floated or raised (am I supposed to cbet A3cc on 863hh with backdoor clubs? I don’t know, but when in doubt I’ve always tried to be aggressive.)

Down $500 through the big pot JJ < TT and the rest a death by a thousand cuts, I reload.

Hand 3: Straddled pot; $2/$5/$10. I have $500, everyone else relevant covers.

Red QQ UTG. I raise to $35, LJ calls, CO raises to $130, BB (super loose passive) cold calls. At this point I hate flatting OOP and have no read at all on CO. I decide to 4! jam.
MP folds, CO overjams for BB’s last $50 or so, BB calls. I flip my hand immediately.

Board runs out 872ddd Td Ad.

After a decent amount of time, CO rolls over the nuts to beat my second nuts: KK with Kd.
Admittedly, he was ahead the whole time.

Down $1000 before I even got home. Took a lot of willpower not to sit at one of the black chip BJ tables on my walk back to the car (Bellagio’s empty 4am $25 tables are incredibly 6:5 and can **** right off).

Hit with a $7 parking fee on my way out.

Glad to be back in Vegas.

Surprised someone noticed that. It’s just the way we’ve always played because of my age (thus size) advantage. Now we’re older and he’s bigger than me, but we play solely to talk ****, and nobody cares who rebounded better.

Also, taking a rip at the Venetian Deepstack ($340 buyin, 100K GTD) today.

Blinds are 100/200 and I start with 25000 chips.

First hand I play, I get 44 and bump it to 450 in EP. BB calls.
Flop (Pot 1000) Q73r goes x/x.
Turn (Pot 1000) 4r BB leads for 500, I flat.
River (Pot 2000) K. BB leads for 1000, I raise to 4500, he jams. I’m at the cold top of my range (never have QQ, KK, or 77 here) so I have to call it off and he shows 65o.

Down to 7000 chips at the first break

and after some blind stealing i’m out.

100/200/25 (eff stack 9000)
QQ (no diamond) in CO, UTG raises to 600, MP flats, I three bet to 2100, UTG calls.

Jd 9d 4s flop. UTG x/jams after my 2200 cbet. I snap, he shows KQdd. Hits Ad on the turn and I’m drawing dead

Busted out of the tournament so early that I needed something else to do before dinner.

Venetian $2/$5 in for $600.

LVL Greyhound to hopefully turn this trip around, otherwise I might be taking the greyhound back to San Diego

Alright. Was busy with Christmas festivities the last couple days with family & friends... have some poker & pit games to report.

Venetian $2/5 poker session: 11 hours 22 minutes (2:53 PM through 2:15 am). In for $1300

I was admittedly playing like a maniac here, spewing all over the place. Here are a few hands I wrote down:

Ah 2h in SB. UTG raise to $15, four callers, I squeeze to $75, UTG calls, CO calls. $500 effective with both at start of hand.
8h 5d 4h flop. I bet $200 and both fold after a few seconds each.

AA in CO. HJ raises to $25 ($200 effective), I 3-bet to $80, he jams for $200 total, I snap and roll over my hand instantly. I would have AA cracked two of three times today, and the third went raise-3bet-fold pre.
Board runs out T9874 and the HJ stands up to put his jacket on. Then he calls "time" on himself during showdown, which was incredibly weird and a move I've never seen before. Of course, I knew what was coming - I just thought it would be JJ and not 66. He racks his chips and leaves.

QQ in CO. V opens to $25 in HJ, and he has caught me bluffing with a $120 river barrel in the last hour. We're $900 effective. I three-bet to $80, he four-bets to $170. I think for a beat about five-betting but ultimately don't like it against almost any live players, and call.

Flop (Pot: $347) Ks 7s 4c. HJ leads for $220, I tank fold. His value range is {KK+, AK}, and I block AQ twice. Don't like this spot.

99 in SB. MP opens to $20, CO calls, BTN calls, I call, BB calls. Rationale: I have been extremely loose and have zero fold equity with any three-bet. I don't like the idea of inflating a pot OOP multi-way with 99.

Flop (Pot: $100): JT9 with two clubs. I'm okay with leading here to avoid the hand from checking through and I bet $75. BB calls, MP calls.
Turn (Pot: $325): 4d, bringing backdoor flush draw. I bet $100 and get called in both places.
River (Pot: $525): Jc, bringing in the flush. I bet $250 and the BB calls with KJo, MP tank folds.

7c 4c in the cutoff. UTG opens to $15, HJ, who seems to be kind of stationy but has made some decent plays to chip back up over the last hour calls. I have been relentlessly 3-betting UTG opener with any two when I have the chance and been printing. Also, I didn't come to Vegas with some money to play GTO lol. 3! to $75. BTN cold calls, UTG folds, HJ calls.

Flop (Pot: $247): As 6c 3c. HJ check/calls my c-bet of $160. BTN folds.
Turn (Pot: $567): Tc. I jam my last $400 effective in, HJ rolls over Ac 9c and I'm drawing to the five of clubs on my last bullet....
Spoiler:
six of diamonds

All-in-all, I had my most fun poker session ever the first few hours; I made friends with the guy to my left for most of the day, kept the table alive with action and some good needles, but I couldn't catch a break in some of the most critical hands. Aces cracked twice, got KK in the BB in the one hand that I chopped with the SB all night, and ran flush-into-flush on my last hand.

Pic of my stack before I lit $1600 on fire

Last night I went to GVR with a friend who has been a local here since we were preschoolers together and I caught up with his family. Then we hit the pits. Forgot to take pics, but here's the tl;dr:

-$500 on blackjack playing quarters, double deck 3:2.

Up-and-down session where the dealers' shown sixes turn into made hands and my aces all make stiff ones.

There's two hands coming right after I had to take a phone call after a new deck, so I watched my friend play. Dealer upcard Ten, he gets 2-2. Hits another 2 (six total). Hits another 2 (eight total). Hits a three (eleven). Hits a three (fourteen). Hits a two (sixteen). Hits a five (twenty-one). Dealer flips over Ten/Five, hits a five.

I sit back down and just rip in $100 a hand for four straight hands. The results:
Dealt A4 against 6. I double, dealt another Ace (sixteen). Dealer flips over 64 and hits an eight.

Dealt A3 against a ten. I hit, dealt a five. I stay, dealer shows twenty.

Dealt JJ against dealer blackjack.

Dealt 86 against a dealer ten. I hit a ten and I'm out $500.

Thus far, down $3300 on the trip ($1000 at Bellagio $2/5, $1300 at Venetian $2/5, $360 from Venetian deepstack, $500 from blackjack, $200 from online poker).

Up $400 from winning my only fantasy football league, however, which was cool. Even started Carson Wentz at QB since I had it locked well above stat-correction territory before the MNF game. (Fournette, Kamara, Hunt, AJ Green, Mike Evans, Gronk, Dan Bailey, Ravens D/ST comprised my championship roster.) Also booked my airbnb for Mardi Gras, so I'll be able to see an old college buddy, my girlfriend from Detroit, and her friend. Should be a sick weekend.

Finally to complete the unholy trinity of run-bad, I got my **** stomped after Christmas dinner by my grandmother, her husband, my brother, and her husband's son's partner in canasta. I couldn't catch a ****ing hand, and in two of the four rounds failed to make it into my foot. The final round I was dealt four red threes and picked up three more within my first three turns- in a six deck game, I managed to draw seven of the twelve available red threes during the most important stage of the game.

My grandma's husband's son and I kept a respectable 2nd place showing, however, as I am decently skilled at picking up exactly twenty-two cards off the top of the deck. Not sure if that's a legal canasta rule, but we've always counted an exact draw as +100 points.

I've definitely got a -EV line in poker and BJ this trip, the canasta was just the gods rubbing it in. Hoping I can turn this around before new years to have some money to blow that night, then 2018 can go a little bit better.
