You want escorts, the place to go is Sacramento. Better looking and half the cost (or less) than in Vegas. Don't know how you find them any more, the old websites were shut down. Sacratomato also has casinos, if you want some poker too.

Next best is San Fran Bay area, but prices are higher than Sac.

I only saw the ones I've seen before. No way will I see someone without several reviews. Since those websites are shut down, my options are fewer. As far as the price, I don't care. I can see escorts within 50 miles of my home for $300 or less, but the quality won't be as good.

It really is interesting to see how many people are getting tired of Vegas. I honestly have thought like I was an outlier with my feelings, but obviously not so. It really feels weird and almost like the end of an era that I’m not super excited to get to go play poker and have fun with friends. It really is odd.

True enough.

I've been to Tahoe and locally and the books aren't the madhouse they are in Vegas - it's a lot nicer. I get the 22 y/o bropacks wanting to go - I just don't want to be part of that nonsense.

I'm 39 and still go every year for March madness. Yeah it's definitely a mad house but the emergence of mobile apps definitely have made the betting experience a lot easier.

Usually I just see a bunch of ugly ones.

I've been going to Vegas since 1980. I'm 60 now. Used to stay downtown at the Vegas club for the annual guy trip and had a blast. Loved the strip, Boyd properties, Fremont, played poker with the Duke at the Golden Nugget and Doyle at the Venetian. Vegas was our playground.

Now every trip is like a kick in the nuts. Can't win at ANYTHING to save my life. Food is overpriced and below average. Resort/parking fees and the crowds piss me off. Young folks screaming a high pitched WOOHOO! every 10 seconds annoys the hell out of me.

In two weeks we were thinking about riding the motorcycles to Vegas (from Arizona). Laughlin looks better, can spend a day out on the lake in a rented boat before the Colorado river dries up. Lake Powell sounds even better.

I can play 6/12 O8 at Talking Stick or here locally. Why would I want to go to Vegas?

Benny Binion was a good business man. His attitude was treat the guy that works hard all year long at his job like a king and give him a good gamble.

Give him a nice room at a good price. Park his car for him. Give him a great steak dinner at a good price, 99c breakfast, $2 tasty hamburger and fries for lunch. Have a good looking girl flashing cleavage bring him free drinks and call him sir.

Now they treat me like I'm an integer in an algorithm of a money extraction scheme.

Meh. If you want a seat in the book you need to show up at 6am. I agree the mobile app is a good thing for the betting part of the experience. It's the rest of the experience that blows.

Just had the pleasure of doing just that.

Guy has a "magnetic field" around him that - just like he wants to - projects "Old Las Vegas" totally.

Yeah, but you don't really need a seat in the book I guess is the point I'm trying to make. I either follow games while seated at a poker game which is way better than the book because you get a seat and constant drink service or I just watch at the house we rent. You can make bets on the apps with no waiting in line from both spots. I'm with you, it can be really crowded that weekend but there is still a way to make it pretty enjoyable. Camping out at the book all day is probably the worst way to experience MM in Vegas.

The thing is, Vegas is big enough to cater to both crowds, I'm not sure why they don't.

I will agree the Tahoe books are disproportionately good considering the small size of the casinos.

Sounds about right. Different cultures I guess.

I grew up in the hills of Northern Appalachia where children were expected to be quiet. One reason is you didn't want to annoy the adults who would beat the tar out of you for the smallest infraction. You also didn't want to scare off the squirrel/possum/rabbit/deer you were about to shoot so you had something to eat that day.

The main reason to remain silent was to not to attract inbred hillbillies to your location. They could and would steal your game, take your gun away and worse. (watch the movie Deliverance for more info)

While today's youth are playing video games shooting at people I grew up with a real gun shooting game for the table. Paying $50 for a piece of barely edible over-salted piece meat tilts me to no end.

Easy to do that when your casino is just a front for a money laundering operation.

This made me laugh.

I've actually been thinking lately about visiting Vegas again. My first and only time was five years ago. However, this thread has put me off a little. On the other hand, I might end up being not too disappointed since I can lower my expectations.

Great thread!

In the same boat here. I used to make about 3 trips a year to Vegas since 2013 each 3-4 days long and this past month was the first time I cancelled one. My reasons:

1) Poker has gotten a lot less fun for me. I was always just a recreational player and the games in Vegas are not fun like they used to be for recreational players. The feeling of having a target on your back is not my idea of a good time.

2) I'm tired of Caesars. I wish I had picked a different casino to stay in when I first went. I like getting their comped rooms but god what a terribly designed casino.

I will likely continue going for the WSOP for the for seeable future and play a couple of small tournaments but only because that tournament fills me with a hard to explain sense of nostalgia and happiness.

I'm with you on the nostalgia bit - and for me, it wasn't that long ago (10-15 years), but when I was younger, Vegas was so much damn fun.

But nowadays, it's just meh I don't know what caused it. Is it because I'm older? Is it because Vegas has changed? Is it because there are more casinos near me that I can go to instead? Is it because, as you said, poker doesn't feel nearly as fun? I honestly don't know. Maybe all of the above.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

You got old, (not just older )...... now go drink your coffee.

This thread is making me so sad.

I still enjoy going to Vegas. Granted, we only go once a year, whereas most of you who are getting tired of it, visit Vegas multiple times a year by the looks of it.

Maybe it also has something to do with the entourage. For me, it's extra fun because I visit Vegas with my best friends (please read my trip report for all the details ;-) ) and I'm not sure if I would go on my own.

Yes, I also notice the difference, but for now, that doesn't stop me from going. We adept and found a place without resort fees. We hardly play at Aria anymore, but found out that the Mandalay has so much more action.

And yet, I can't shake off the feeling that in a few years time and a couple more visits, I will probably feel the same.

That’s what friends are for, to help you shake that feeling of. I know just the song for that!

This may have been true until a few years ago but now you can easily watch every March Madness game from home. They allocate 4 channels to it, so you never miss a game.

Don't let this thread put you off. Going once every 5 years is much different than going up to 5 times in one year. There's no reason you won't have a blast.
