Pros/Cons of Horseshoe (Ballys) or Flamingo during WSOP Pros/Cons of Horseshoe (Ballys) or Flamingo during WSOP

Hey there,

Coming for 19th to 28th June with friends, all of which are already booked in to Horseshoe for convenience to WSOP. It's coming out about 25% more expensive to stay there during the period and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra just to be in the same resort as WSOP? Or whether Flamingo (I've stayed there before) would be just as okay and less price for an extra few minutes walk.

Are there any real benefits to staying at Horseshoe other than the walking distance to WSOP events? Anything else I need to consider?

Thanks
Dex

Horseshoe rooms are also generally somewhat nicer, though the flamingo rooms at the flamingo aren't bad at all imo. But either hotel should definitely be fine. Really not a big fan of the fab or go rooms at flamingo myself, though.

Stayed in both the last few years, they're both that OK, midlevel, room.

Was in Bally's for the Seniors last year. It was nice to be able to run up to my own room during a break.

Generally they have refrigerators in the rooms, dunno about Flamingo.

June is usually about 103 degrees mid-day. My preference is staying indoors.

One downside is eats. There's a lot more variety in and around Flamingo than Ballys.

Ballys/Paris has the absolute worst food possible in any hotel except for maybe the Rio so take that into consideration. I would 110% stay at Flamingo compared to Ballys, the walk isn’t too bad and most of it is inside anyway. Food options are infinitely better.

Agreed on Bally's, but Paris has decent food options or head outside to the Bazaar in front for Giordani's pizza. The Bazaar also has the best ramen place on the Strip IMO. Can even walk through Paris to PHo for decent cheap eats such as Earl of Sandwich.

I would stay at the Horseshoe over Flamingo any day of the week, personally. Rooms are miles better and have fridge, can easily access Paris, closer to WSOP and cash games, plus a relaxing pool with a proper 12ft deep end if you like to swim.

Could be different during the WSOP maybe? Was playing a bunch at Paris last year during the WSOP and didn´t find any decent food anywhere. That being said I have never stayed at either property so no idea about the rooms - was only thinking food options. Have stayed at Harrahs twice before and the rooms are quite similar as far as I know so can´t be that bad.

I would absolutely vote for Horseshoe.

I haven't stayed at either in several years (played a couple WSOP events last year, but stayed at Cosmo & MGM). But in my experience the Ballys rooms were noticeably nicer than the Flamingo rooms. The food options at both are pretty bad, but I actually always thought Ballys was slightly better than Flamingo on that count too.

And besides being obviously closer to the WSOP, Horseshoe is much closer to the poker rooms at Bellagio and Aria if you want to play cash games, as well as the many food and drink options at Bellagio, Aria, an Cosmo.

I feel like people minimize the value of having no walk vs a short walk. In 110 degree Vegas heat, even a short walk can be a pain. More importantly, I feel like you’d be able to relax more being at Horseshoe already knowing you don’t have to feel rushed to walk anywhere or do anything else.

For me, it’s more of a mental perk knowing I’m already where I need to be.

But you know at least one escalator over Flamingo Rd will be AFU.

Take the "shortcut" from the Flamingo... out the valet exit, through the Crom valet area and across the street to the Horse.

No escalators needed except for the short one in the bird.

Still, not fun in 110 heat.

I was there in 2019 WSOP. 120F+

But it's a dry heat, so you don't really sweat. Id walk from Harrah's to CP, B, A, V, etc.

Having a room upstairs for breaks is a huge plus imo, Bathroom lines can be a mess during wsop.

Not if you're playing in Paris. They have a MegaRestRoom, with about 40 urinals. I don't think I ever waited more than a minute.

It depends, I consider Vegas heat to be much more tolerable. Where I live we have 110 degrees with humidity and that’s a killer. I had no problem walking several times between Aria and Resorts World last summer, you can do 80-90% indoors.

From Flamingo you only have to go through the bridge, everything else is inside through Flamingo and Cromwell.

Definitely leaning towards Bally's based on the thread... I'm really not fussed by the short walk from Flamingo to Bally's but I think the convenience of having your room just upstairs, as well as the nicer rooms themselves, seems to secure the win

110 with humidity?? You live in the south? Summer where I am can hit 115 but usually not humid. I hate hot and humid weather.

Don’t believe Muck is in the USA. I am going to guess SE Asia.

I can’t think of anywhere in USA 110F+ with humidity and I am couple miles from a swamp.

I’ve never been to the south but I always figured certain spots in Texas or Georgia or somewhere down there reach that high of temps and can have high humidity. Since you’re near a swamp, you must be in the south so is 110+ unreasonably hot? Closer to 100 or so?

I'd personally go with Horseshoe due to the convenience, especially if you don't have Diamond or 7 Stars status. You can register super early in the morning / super late at night to avoid lines without it being an extra walk. The only plus for Flamingo that I can think of is that the pool is far nicer at Flamingo.

Never stayed there but I've booked 3 weeks at Horseshoe. As long as the rooms are clean I like the idea of going to my room whenever I need to during breaks or whatever.
