I wont be updating this thread or making threads in LVL going forward.

Just because the local mods merged your October in Vegas thread with this one?

OP if you do start a new thread, it is a helpful move to at least post a link in this one to your new one. People like me who aren't on 2+2 all that often might want to continue following you but would not see your new thread.

Yes. A piece of dynamic art that I created and guided was tarnished and therefore destroyed.

start a thread about moving to Vegas to play poker, a subject near and dear to all of our hearts, then quits.

posts stuff on the internet, gets negative feedback which is ALWAYS INEVITABLE, gets all butthurt and quits.

do or do not, there is no try.

tough crowd.

Maybe PG&C is a kinder, gentler lynch mob ?

I love all feedback. I've gotten almost no negative feedback for the thread so I'm not sure what you're talking about. The thread about moving to Vegas was over and finished, my 7 month story was told.

I then decided to do a daily blog style challenge for the month of October, which got shut down (aka merged with an unrelated thread). I haven't quit. I realize now that my blog style challenge thread should have gone in PG&C, so that is where I will put the next one.

I had never intended to maintain the thread titled "I moved to Vegas seven months ago to play poker" past the point of giving the 7-month trip report.

OP:

Never give up. Never surrender.

I'm 2+2 OG so hear me when I say quit drinking while you are playing. No one drinks on the job unless it's to please the client. Now drinking at the END of your session - that's just good bankroll and comp management. Otherwise leave the drinking to us recreationals who are there to have fun.

I hate the check of 75 after iso on the 863 board. C-bet for half-pot or a little less should be high % there.

JACK casino $1-$3 nl has a $7 rake at $50 or $60 so you should figure out quickly to play only the PLO. I played it around noon this past Saturday. It was easy for anyone rolled to steal.

In general someone who wants to be a low-stakes pro should find a casino not on Bravo and move there. Vegas is great on medium and busy weekends at low stakes outside of the big 4. Venetian is not a great place to play vs. other casinos imo. Same for Aria and Bellagio.

Congrats on a good 6 months. May we infer that you did well not spending money?

Best of luck!

Love your progress OP, but I do think you should not record the jackpot money as poker winning since it is not sustainable.

Why not?

He pays the promo rake on every pot he wins.

I can see that the argument is "He did not win it from an opponent in the hand."

OTOH, I think you are correct. Since he is taxed on his play, by paying rake, and that drives down his win rate, he should be entitled to count a bonus toward his results as well.

The bonus effect will smooth out over time, and his results might merit an asterisk for the specific reporting period.

Carry on.

So many red flags even before he shut down the thread. I hope OP continues to win but I seriously doubt it.

This is the key of the matter. If your promo winnings distort your results, they are a problem for using those results to make decisions about what to play. Even running hot in a few 1K high hand jackpots can convince a losing player that he's a winner. Most people should probably fold in small bonuses that are easy to get (low variance) and keep aside rare ones. We used to get people who hit 4 and 5 figure shares of BBJP reporting silly win rates for years. In the end, you have to be careful about fooling yourself.

My opinion is to count stuff like high hands since that's basically a rebate but not to count stuff like a miracle extremely high bad bear jackpot in your averages bc it just completely distorts your win rate

Everyone pays for the promo rake. It is more like a lottery in my opinion.
