i actually read further back and saw the hand with complete history. I wrote a somewhat detailed post about it, then realized the hand was posted months ago and deleted it.
cliffs is, i min raise pre. It keeps his air in (which shoving doesnt), it gives him an opportunity to spaz-shove pre thinking he has steal equity and if he just calls, youll be able to get it in on most flops with him.
If we just flat, my problem is that frequently he is going to try some kind of spazzy overbet otf, and well have to reluctantly fold (hell be betting like 115 into 68).
If we shove, we chase out most of his weaker holdings for sure. We might get a call out of 88 here (because he makes us for AK, ldo) but if hes doing this with random garbage, that garbage is going to fold here, when he might make a disasterous error otf with it. Against some people i might shove -- if i know from history they don't open fold with a short stack, for example.
