I think so. I confuse Luxor with them, although I've seldom played at Luxor. The dealers hated it because they made change from the pot with the quarters, so of course there were quarters in the pot. People tipped with them - some tipped 50 cents on all pots, I would tip 50 cents on small pots under 10 bucks.

OP, are you taking any more shots at 2/5 or just sticking with 1/2 for now? Did you take more than the 2 shots at 2/5? If so, did you try buying in for 60bbs or 100bbs?

Luxor was cool last night. Pretty nice casino on the inside, I had forgotten what it looked like. Poker Game was ok. They only had 2 tables running, one of which was short handed. My game was ok. Couple fish and then a few nits.

I splashed a little to much but managed to book a +115 win over 2 hours played. I got it in twice with 99 once vs kk for 200 pot lost that one then vs an unknown hand for 300 pot and I spiked a 9. Also got it in for a 250 pot with AA vs aj and board ran out 72354 to chop. Other then that nothing super interesting.

I should have played longer but I was already 2ish I was tired and since I was in a splashy mood I figured it was a good time to get up. Might check Luxor out again tonight or its back to old faithful venetian.

Re: I moved to vegas to play poker blah blah blah follow me thread

Been reading the thread for a couple weeks now. Just wanted to say I really enjoy the updates, and I think there's a lot more like me who read and never say too much. But I love seeing them, so thanks and keep it up where possible.

Best of luck, and I'm sure I'll run into you out there. I'll be there in 3 weeks to hit the grind full time.

Push the chair back, put your feet beneath your center of mass, tense your quads. Easy game.

Sorry there hasn't been any updates. I haven't played since Friday night. Unfortunately my life expenses might just be to much for me to do playing only 1,2. Moving up is just going to take to long. so I have applied for a few different jobs out here with the intentions of working during the week and putting in 16-24 hours a week at night at weekends.

When I lived in California my wife worked 2pm-8pm part time this allowed her ample time with the kids. Here she is gone 8am-530pm m-f thus she isn't with them that often during the week and I can tell this is having a toll on her. Me getting a job would allow her to go back to part time and be with the kids more. And with the cost of living out here + money ill make from still playing 3+ sessions a week should allow me to save up a roll to play 2,5+ a lot quicker then grinding 1,2 is going to. With playing 5,10 as my regular game as the main goal I might as well take the path that going to get there the quickest.

So until I get a job (Ive applied at 10+ places already. most sales) I will be playing only online. Small tourneys and what not. I have a personal life roll of about 4kish and would rather make sure all the bills are paid until I start a job then play poker with it. A downswing would put me is a bad situation and I'd rather not chance that with the family and all. If anyone would like me to keep the the thread updated each week with results and what not I will but daily updates won't be happening any more. This isn't a failure in my opinion just a speed bump to get over.

Final stats since March 1st

402 hours played
Total profit: $10,750
Hourly: $26.74

Any questions feel free to shoot.

Re: I moved to vegas to play poker blah blah blah follow me thread

I don't know why I feel compelled to comment but I guess it's because I've kept up with the thread loosely from the get go and didn't feel you thought this out enough or were a little to high on your horse. I guess I get intrigued when people start these threads since I have been here and done it for years and always wanted to chronicle my days, but then I realized what people think about what I play and **** doesn't really matter.

See if I can string together some thoughts

1. This post:https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...0&postcount=21 is crazily similar to what you just posted. Like you came here to make more and spend less but somehow that hasn't happened.

2. You can't even fantasize about playing for a living if you can't average 100/hours a month. And even that number is super low.

3. Quit talking about 5/10. You are putting an unseen pressure on yourself

4. Why are you wasting time playing online when even if you win most aren't getting withdrawals in forever? You say don't wanna play cause roll is small but if that's the case why have any of it online.

5. You aren't going to move up to 2/5 quicker by getting a job. You will be making less than you do at 1/2......and you can't assume you are going to be winning in your 3 sessions on the weekend so now you don't even have the advantage of having other winning sessions cancel out the bad losing sessions.

6. Need to look into why life expenses are so much different than you figured they were going to be. 1k-1400 in the post I linked too.

7. WSOP is over......Now is the time most of us regret not putting in more time.

8. Focus and get at it. Quit screwing around in a 4/8 mixed game and PL Badugi and put in the focused hours to make money and do something.

Not hating..... Thought I may be able to spawn a thought for you or maybe others can build off some of it. Not looking to be hard on anyone but it isn't the cake walk people imagine it to be.

Re: I moved to vegas to play poker blah blah blah follow me thread

Your hourly rate is good. Just gotta put in the hours. We know you can do it.

For reals, there is no 9-5 job that pays 100k/yr. Gotta put in the 50-60 hours a week, esp. at the start.

It's 4PM to 2AM on Fri
12PM to 2AM on Sat
and 1PM to 7PM on Sun

Make sure you are at the table at those hours.

Gotta treat it like a job. It's a fun job, but in the end it's still a job. Tiger practices 'till his hands bleed... this is your version of it.

See you on the wknd of the 10th.

Cheers and run good.

Re: I moved to vegas to play poker blah blah blah follow me thread

sounds like a smart approach. there is certainly more at stake with a family so while it's cool to live the life you want and take risks... there is some value to protect from too much risk. keep updating whenever you can. even online stuff would be cool to hear. good luck!

His hourly doesn't mean **** at this point. The thought of making 100k is ridiculous. And it is not a fun job, especially if you think you are going to put in 50-60 hours a week. This whole thing would be an easier task if there was a realistic outlook and approach. The dudes roll is smaller than it was when he got here I think. The thought of 100k and 5/10 shouldnt be a thought until you can end a month with more than you started with. And I'm pretty sure at one point he was talking about getting staking.....that would be about theeee worst possible idea in history of this thread.

Re: I moved to vegas to play poker blah blah blah follow me thread

Brandon,
After reading your last post, I went back and reread the thread.

If you plan on playing 16-24 hrs on weekends, that's 20 hrs a week on average. That's all you've averaged in the 5 months you've been in Vegas. (402 hrs) When you were a prop you said you played 40+ hrs a week and covered your 3K monthly expenses. So why did you play so little in Vegas?
If you plan on doing this for a living, you must put in the hours.

You said your wife was making 18K more in Vegas, plus benefits. If she works part time does she lose them?

I'm sure being away from family and friends doesn't make things easier. Both your mothers are probably pissed that you moved and they can't see their grand kids very often.

If you have to get a job and poker becomes a hobby, nothing wrong with an extra $500 a week to ease the pain.

Good luck to you, not just in poker, but in life.

No no, you misunderstood me.

No one makes 100k in 1-2.

I'm basically saying there is no such thing as a great paying gig that also has great hours.

This surprised me. If the average work week is 35 to 40 hours you should be at closer to say 600 hours. At your current rate that would bring your 4 month profit closer to $16,000.

Why only 402?

At a regular fulltime job with standard vacation time etc... $26 per hour equates to approx. $50,000 per year.

Were you expecting to work so few hours because this low hour count seriously puts a wrench in to your earnings?

He hasn't played since Friday when Thur-Tue should be his working days.

He makes $25/hr at poker but instead is going to get a sales job which I'm guessing will be lucky to pay $14/hr.

Laziness is the reason this isn't working. Be a man - you've got a family to support.
