It's been a lot better lately. Very few grinders playing 60 hours now. Good mix of tourists and locals. May be adding a 10k April freeroll as well, will know very soon.

Is it asking too much to try and grind 60 hours in a row? I mean your essentially making 10 bucks an hour to do so

bluffing in unnecessary spots and letting the pot ship to someone else (when you know you can take it down) is the reason why their bb/100 wouldnt be as sexy as mine, take advantage of every spot!!!!

I played at the Tropicana today..they have a similar promotion up too $12 per hour for 12 hours paid upon cashout...1/2 nl...only 1 table going in the morning just guys trying too grind the hours...let me know if you ever play at TI or the Trop we can meet for a beer.....

definitely worth doing i put in a lot of hours at venetian and its basically the same skill level as 1/2 with a ton more profit potential.

im 26 and also moved out here from california a few months ago and dont know anybody either. ill have to make sure to run into you once i get my **** back in line and start grinding again.

Then you're mucking a lot of winning hands cuz there are a decent # of grinders at these stakes who will own your soul. Also, there are plenty of aggro fish at 1/2 who raise or shove with a NFD, OESD, pair+FD, or pair+OESD on any street (at the V and A at least ... games at 2nd tier rooms like Mandalay, Ballys, PH, etc tend to be more passive).

2/5 is definitely beatable but is still tougher than the avg 1/2 game. The main difference is that the level of aggression is higher and more players bluff. The ratio of grinders to fish is simply higher at 2/5 than 1/3, esp at the V. I've played probably 500hrs at the V in the past year and many times can recognize 5 or 6faces at a 2/5 game whereas at 1/3 it's usually 1-3.

Per request of the jew I'm posting a hand that on the flop I played atrociously. After the hand was over I called him just I could get berated.

My image at the table is pretty laggy I'm seeing lots of flops and winning a good amount of them either thru bluffs or showing down the best hand. Buttons image is a lady who likes to play and bet aggressive on the flop but gets lost on turn and river play in regards to hand value and bet sizing.

So mp raises to 10 I call she reraises from button to 30 (2nd hand in a row she has 3 bet) the original raiser folds I call.. Oh yea duh I have 7c8c would help knowing that huh. Flop is Kh 7h 2c.
I checked she bets 55 I call. I know what your thinking omgz I called that big bet on the flopz With only pair of 7s, Yes I did because I suck. I had been winning every pot I wanted to win and had a little bit of God syndrome going and felt I could bluff hearts or bluff river if she checked turn, and plus I got bd. Clubs and if I spike a 7 or an 8 on turn if and she bets ill be able to cr get it in.. I suck I know.

So turn is the awesome 3c giving me a flush draw.. I check and then the best thing in the world happened she only bet 75 giving me awesome odds of a little over 3.5-1 on my 14 out draw. Plus I can maybe bluff 6 hearts as well. Discounting 7h8h because they are were counted as part of my outs and I'm also taking out the Ah because I'm not going to try and take her off top 2. And yes she totally has ak Here like 99% of the time imo. So I call.

River is proly best card in the deck ever almost joker status good.. 7s. Woot I run good.. I load up 180 she hems and Haws and goes guess u got there and calls. I show her the super nuts she shows ak and says nice suckout.. I say thank you.. Then I called jew so dad could scold me for calling the flop bet.

Just seeing this now. Thanks man :P It's always an interesting dynamic when the two of us are at an early morning $1/2 game with your average older nits and leftover fish. For a few hours before the rush, we are the game.

You say she has AK 99 percent of the time here ... How often do you think you can get her to fold it? It's OK to call the flop WITH A PLAN other than check calling hoping to get lucky (obviously).

Why not fold preflop? Those medium suited hand play well in postion/multi-way pots.

Everything after that is meh. I would probably peel off a turn card as well.

Normally I am not that big a fan of low/mid suited connectors b/c there is what I call an "information asymmetry" problem.

It's like, ok, so say you hit your flush.... you bet.... villain re-raises and shoves all in.... how confident are you in your reads that you know villain doesn't have flush or has a smaller flush? Are you confident enough in your read that you can push all your chips in also? Until you can do that.... those mid/low flushes are just more trouble than they are worth.

As for the actual hand you played.... again... this is coming from someone who plays a lot of 2-5, profitably, but not professionally (b/c I am evil and choose to work in finance instead)...so take it w/ a grain of salt.

The goal of the game is to win the most MONEY, not the most HANDS. A lot of times people get trapped into thinking how they can win the hand, or how they can win the most hands.... and that's how blow-ups happen. You live in LV now, the game will always be there, there is no need/rush to make all your money in one hand.
