Of course some are going to run super hot ,stay at expensive hotels thinking they're edge is a lot bigger than it actually is and be shocked in future years when they don't sun run.
Now if you're playing poker for fun and maybe hoping to use your winnings to pay for your Vegas vacation have at it.
Not really, you can get cheap stays at lower tier properties. Friend of mine for example goes twice a year for two months each trip. If you have 200 hours booked at Aria or Bellagio you automatically get Gold status with MGM and for that you receive offers. Nothing super amazing but the average is like $30-50 a night depending on the day of the week, mostly at Luxor + you get $50 F&B daily with it.
He plays 90% 1-2 PLO and like 10% 2-5 PLO and is in 5 figure profit every single trip.
Not saying it’s not hard but definitely possible. On the other hand he plays 12-16 hours a day every single day for those two months so..
Edit: that being said I 110% agree that it’s gotten insanely expensive over the past couple of years and for a recreational player it is very very hard to go home with a profit at 1-2/1-3.
