Can you still get platinum anymore at CET properties or is only diamond? Years ago I recalled I got platinum at CET properties because I played a lot of hours at one of the rooms. Did recall that allowed me to go in the other line for checking in. But does that waive your resort fees? Back then they didn't have these resort fees like the last few years etc.

Also are there many people that are earning diamond status at CET or whatever status at other properties from online sports betting? So if you bet enough sports online, then you are diamond or platinum at CET and now you don't have to pay any resort fees? Anyone here done that? Anyone know much money you have to wager a year to get that with online sports betting? I assume it is on the risk amount and you get credits based on that? And if you do that, it should be only at CET? You can do that at wynn or betmgm online but obviously you aren't going to get any free rooms from there right?

Curious if people are betting a lot on the CET apps and then once they do that, they come to vegas and have lot of comped rooms or discounted rooms? If so how many? The CET properties even without resort fees are decent.

You can still get platinum, but I think it only gets you free valet parking.

As for sports betting, I hear that can work, but have no actual experience because in my state they don't make it easy. I have an account but can find no reasonable way to fund the account.

Sports betting is a way to do it, but if you are ARB betting or betting +EV bets you can get your account limited. A few books I can only bet $30 max a game, so you just gotta take it easy on them.

Also it's not a lot of reward points unless you are betting parlays and stupid bets.

Of course some are going to run super hot ,stay at expensive hotels thinking they're edge is a lot bigger than it actually is and be shocked in future years when they don't sun run.

Now if you're playing poker for fun and maybe hoping to use your winnings to pay for your Vegas vacation have at it.

Not really, you can get cheap stays at lower tier properties. Friend of mine for example goes twice a year for two months each trip. If you have 200 hours booked at Aria or Bellagio you automatically get Gold status with MGM and for that you receive offers. Nothing super amazing but the average is like $30-50 a night depending on the day of the week, mostly at Luxor + you get $50 F&B daily with it.

He plays 90% 1-2 PLO and like 10% 2-5 PLO and is in 5 figure profit every single trip.

Not saying it’s not hard but definitely possible. On the other hand he plays 12-16 hours a day every single day for those two months so.. How do low stakes poker players even afford hotels in vegas anymore?

Edit: that being said I 110% agree that it’s gotten insanely expensive over the past couple of years and for a recreational player it is very very hard to go home with a profit at 1-2/1-3.

people keep coming to Vegas, numbers rise every year.
even with resort fees a stay in a nice hotel in Vegas is more affordable than a basic hotel in any other city in America.

I don't think it's automatic. You have to ask for it. Gold does get resort fees waived. I don't believe you can combine Aria or Bellagio hours. I think it's 75 hours for Pearl and that is also an option at MGM Grand.

It's 150 hours within a year across all MGM poker rooms. You ask the poker manager for it.

Hmm you might be right, remembered either 150 or 200. So 150, even easier then.

When I went to the WSOP for the first time in 2009, a month at the Imperial Palace cost me less than rent for my apartment at home.

Wow, that's great. Staying at Imperial Palace, not so great. Great price though nonetheless.

Is this true? Wow, I guess that would explain why a low stakes poker player would choose to go to Vegas instead of Texas, because if you are looking to play low stakes poker why would you choose Vegas?

There is a world of difference between Texas and Las Vegas. (I have a lot of respect for Texas , have traveled there often on business, poker and otherwise, , and enjoy much of what it offers. I once spent a weekend driving to recommended BBQ joints in an area roughly from Houston to Austin to San Antonio, "Wow", most I ever ate in my life ..........but Texas and Las Vegas present very different experiences. )

I also doubt cut rate hotels/motels are cheaper in Las Vegas than in Texas fwiw.

I’m 2006, I was popping around to a mix of hotels that included nice ones like Mandalay Bay, but not only was the month cheaper than my place in dc, but the 20 dollar trick was regularly producing miracles. The front desk staff at the old alladin (planet Hollywood) were giving me second to top floor three bedroom suite facing the fountain for the 20 dollar trick.
