This obv. If you are mainly playing at these locations the extra 15 bucks a day are prolly worth it.

Absolutely this. Plus the pool at Flam is solid--satisfies your jones for a better pool/down time if needed

Location can't be beat.

Great, thanks for the advice. I booked it, can always cancel if something better comes up.I have stayed at Flamingo before, a "Go" room during Super Bowl 2012. I played a fair amount of poker in their room, including during the Game. What I remember most is the god awful long walk from the casino to the room, which wasn't too bad until my room key was in the same pocket as my phone, thus de-activating it, requiring another walk back down to the registration desk to get another. Brutal.

Also there is a shuttle from Harrahs (and Flamingo?) to Rio in case I end up playing a WSOP daily/satellite over there.

There is a shuttle from Rio to Bally's, on the side of Bally's that is right across the street from Flamingo. I think it also goes to Harrah's, but if you are at Flamingo, the stop at Bally's is probably closer.

Don't forget the $15 resort fee, lol.

How is "The D" on Fremont?

I suppose that depends on which male prostitute you pick.

HA! Okay, how about the hotel formerly known as Fitzgeralds?

better question is How is Fremont Street because all of the hotels there are basically the same. No flash, limited amenities and older properties but cheaper gaming/drinks/food and a mob scene packed with weirdos outside on Fremont Street. the good news is if u don't like the vibe in one particular casino, u can just walk a very short distance to another.

The D supposedly had some re-modeling done after it was purchased by those Detroit dudes but when I was there a while back it didn't feel or look much different than it did when it was Fitzgeralds.

They've definitely cleaned it up since it was the tire fire that was Fitzgerald's. The McDonald's is still there though. Casino is small, busy and loud, but it is at least a place where you don't have to hold your nose anymore. Now attracts a clientele that is more likely to be addicted to prescription drugs than meth, so that's an improvement.

Trying to find hotels with good curtains, so I can sleep after the sun rises. Here are few of my experiences:

Bellagio: good
MGM: perfect, but water pressure is poor after remodel
NYNY: good, but roller coaster noise

Aria: bad, you can read a book with curtains shut and the lights out during the day

Vdara: worse

Wondering about Mirage?

I'm finding vdara fine

You must be very sensitive to light. No offence intended

Sorry in advance, I haven't read many of the posts here so forgive me if this has been asked already!

Looking for the perfect hotels for 4 friends, we're all 24-27. We'll be getting our own seperate rooms.

We ideally want somewhere that draws in similar crowds as us, age wise. Has a good party scene, but isn't OVERLY expensive.

From what I can see, cosmo is literally that option. But Cosmo is also stupidly expensive especially with the Australian dollar to US dollar conversion.

We're looking at 10 days, we'll be playing some poker, maybe about 6 days worth, but it's our first time in LV so we wont be spending all of it at the tables.

We want ideally somewhere thats about $150 a night, give or take. It's a rough ballpark figure so I'm willing to look at more expensive just for a better experience!
Also I plan on doing the $20 trick, not sure if this works at all hotels?

Looking at going either towards the end of summer / start of Autumn, or deadset middle of winter for new years eve. Not sure which at the moment just depends on time off work etc.

Sorry if these questions are a bit vague etc. Normally I wouldn't be too phased on prices, but flights alone are $1500 return roughly to LV, and about $1200 return to LA, and thats because of where we live in Australia.

thanks!

I would say Aria would fit you perfectly. Plus it's next door to Cosmo.

Aria is more expensive. Go vdara. Cheaper just as nice and 2 min walk to aria literally

I'm an Aussie

Planet Hollywood. With your budget you can probably get a room that's better than the standard. Plus, it's not an MGM property, so no parking fee, as of now.

Mirage curtains were good for me, but I'm not that light sensitive.

Way back when the Mirage was new I checked into a room that had no curtains. I called the desk and they apologized and then moved me into a penthouse suite. The curtains there were great

I stayed at Stratosphere last fall so guess I should write a review. Disclaimer: My cousin got the hotel I was just tagging along.

Stratosphere:
pros:
-bar at top of hotel was nice, spacious, cool bartenders
-Rides at top of hotel looked fun
-Lax rules, they let my cousin carry a six pack to the top of hotel with an open beer
-starbucks right in the lobby
-Room was quiet

cons:
-hotel felt like I was in the 1970s
-food was meh and expensive
-far away from "everything"
-no uber. my uber couldn't get a signal which seemed odd.

Staying a planet hollywood next month

3 nights, double queen room. It includes a Friday night. Total after taxes and resort fees is $470, which comes out to about $156 per night.

I have a total rewards card, but don't play much. My tier score is 0.

I will update with a review after my trip. I have stayed at Luxor, Excalibuer, Aria, Flamingo, and Ballys before. I am happy to answer any questions, but I don't really care much about the room; so most of my opinions are based on the location.

@ThirstyCamel- Planet Hollywood is the way to go. Great atmosphere and an overhead walkway away from Cosmo. Rooms are .... OK. nothing flashy but def not terrible.

Vdara would be good but you cant overstate how much better it is to get off of the elevator and be IN a casino. If you want to go the no casino rute, I would look at Elara and Vdara. These places will not be occupied by people your age, and pool scene should be enough of a reason for you to not want to stay there.

Sign up for a total rewards account online, wait a day, log in, then check rates for PHo. If its too expensive, maybe try Ballys, which sucks but isnt TERRIBLE and is two casinos away from PHo/Cosmo/ one more up is Aria. I would say check Paris but if PHo is too expensive Paris will be as well.

Truthfully youll be happiest at Cosmo. How often do you get to vegas? Spend a little extra and enjoy yourselves imo

Unsure of this is relevant to anyone's interests at the moment, but I called TI this afternoon and asked about waiving resort fees as well as freezing incidentals so as not to require the daily $100 hold.

WRT resort fees I was given a package option that allowed for a waiver, but was told they were non-negotiable otherwise. I was also told that reservations people are taught to ignore the question of incidentals, but that the front desk gets to make the call @ check-in. Seemed like a real obvious $20 nod to me.

This is starting to be my thought process. We wanna party and have fun. (Apparently theres a place that does drunk yoga? sign me up!), but we still want to be close enough to the major poker venues for when we do hit the grind!

I think we'll have to look at cosmo and just put the extra few $$ in. I was hoping it would be part of the M life thing so I could sign up to that and get points, as we plan on making LV a 2-3 times a year visit.

What months are usually the cheapest times of year?

The Linq Hotel Casino.

In center of everything, good upbeat vibe, Osheas connected to casino floor (bar/casino with lots of beer pong tables!)

Walk across the street to Bellagio and you're connected to Aria/Cosmo via monorail or walk (easier to walk actually)
