You'll have to define what Caesars property is available. $33 a night is an unbelievable price for Caesars Palace. Others, it's merely a decent deal.

No chance of getting resort fee waived if you are not Diamond or Seven Star.

The TI pool is small. There are not many lounge chairs. It's not bad if you go early, but during peak hours it's not relaxing.

That said, I do like the location and the price. I was quoted $300/night at Venetian and it was $250 total for three nights at TI for the same weekend (late May).

What are some options for getting into the Venetian pool? Do you just need a room key? Or do they not even check? I'll be there most of the time for restaurants and poker anyway....

At Caesars Palace that's essentially the price if you get the room fully comped and just pay the resort fee.

Checked in at the Vdara yesterday. Booked base suite. Pulled the 20 dollar trick and got upgraded to strip/fountain view. Front desk agent was very friendly.

Stayed there for a night a month or two ago. Was very pleasantly surprised, as I wasn't expecting much.

Room was fairly well updated, flat screen tv, clean, etc. Bed wasn't the most comfortable, but not like ridiculously bad.

Have had good dining experiences at both TJs Steakhouse & Benihana.

TI is excellent. I just stayed there Valentines day weekend for three nights. The room was great and the customer service was very helpful. We asked where we could get haircuts in the city and some guy in a suit who was probably management told us in TI for $50. When he left the regular employee told us in China town with directions. Overall TI is great.

In passing -

1) TI is great
2) $50 for a haircut in a vegas casino is cheap
3) Last couple of times we've stayed I've had a haircut and a beard trim for $50 - and my beard could probably qualify as a superfund site.
4) You should have gotten a coupon book at checkin that gives 20% off on spa services - and for me, haircut qualifies.

I just spent the past couple of weeks in Vegas and stayed at Caesars and Ballys and here are my thoughts:

Caesars
I stayed at the Octavius tower which is the newest of the Caesars branded towers (Nobu Hotel is newer but is technically a seperate hotel). The elevators were quite quick although I find it annoying that they list the top floor as floor 69 when the building is only 21 stories high. I loved the paisley wallpaper in the hallway and wish I could take it right off the wall and turn it into a button down shirt.

The room was very nice and chic. I got the King sized option which includes a nice big sectional which would be a great place to hang out with friends if you bring the party back home. The room looked north, overlooking the Caesars pool area and another Caesars tower. Nice large bathroom with seperate shower and jet tub. I couldn't get the jets to do anything in the tub (user error perhaps?). There is a little TV in the bathroom but the picture was very fuzzy so I didn't use it (bad connection).

The shower has a very large and expensive looking shower head but the water pressure is crap! Well, maybe not crap, but it shoots just a barely acceptable level of water pressure. I would have expected more from a high end resort. Also, the toilet paper is low quality.

My other problem with the room was that the noise in the hallway was at times substantial and could be heard quite well from inside the room. At one point I was woken up by a drunk woman screaming. This was at like 2pm but I sleep in the afternoon. Anyways, I use airtight exterior doors inside my house so I'm used to noise not entering my bedroom.

Bally's

Word to the wise, you may not want stay at Bally's right after staying at a higher end property. I was in a state of shock taking the rinky dinky elevator and subsequently walking down the dated hallway to my room. However, once i settled in and got used to the dated atmosphere Bally's worked quite well for me.

I stayed in the north tower known as the Indigo tower. This is the older of the two towers having last been renovated in 2004. However, the colors used in the room look far more outdated than that. Lots of brown. Brown accent on the bed, ugly brown carpet, brown tile in the bathroom. From that perspective it looks more like a room from the 1970s. My room was on the north side of the building with a pretty good view of the hotels to the north. I could hear a little bit of traffic on Flamingo but noise was never really an issue here.

Small bathroom with just a shower tub. It had a cheap little shower head on it but that little cheap shower head delivered OUTSTANDING water pressure. The bed was comfortable and the bedspread and pillows all looked new (just the typical white bedspread/sheets you see so often nowadays). I don't have any major complaints about Bally's except to say that it looked outdated. The room was clean and I got everything I wanted out of it.

In terms of location, both Bally's and Caesars are outstanding. It's just a short walk across a bridge from either to get to Bellagio and the Bellagio poker room is right by that entrance.

All of these rooms were comped (had to pay resort fees only) so price was not a concern. Wifi worked well at both. I can't comment on the pools or gyms. If it were just me, I would not pay more to stay at Caesars because both delivered everything I personally needed. However, if I was bringing a girl or wanted to bring the party back to the room then I would pay extra for Caesars.

Next week I will be staying at The Cromwell.

I mostly play at Bellagio thus being close to Bellagio is of great importance to me. The first time I stayed at Vegas as a poker player I stayed at Imperial Palace (now the Linq). It's location is not very good for me.

I've also stayed at Jockey Club and Planet Hollywood multiple times. Both are in good locations, albeit it should be noted back when I stayed at Planet Hollywood I was mostly playing at ARIA.

I do play at Wynn some but my buddy plays there full time and will generally give me a ride if I want to go there. I pretty much don't play at Venetian (have played there twice for a combined 3 hrs).

There is no point, just as there would be no point in booking the exact same hotel either. Just switching it up. I have never stayed at the Cromwell and will see how it is. The rooms are comped so it can't hurt right? I will be staying at Bally's again during the series.

BTW, to clarify, I didn't just move from one hotel to the other. I flew back home for a couple days in-between. That being said, I certainly wouldn't have a problem moving from one hotel to another if that's what i needed to do to get all my nights comped.

@Neverloses, if you're a Bellagio reg then surely MonteCarlo is ideal for you?

I wouldn't say ideal but that's probably a pretty good idea given the tram between monte carlo and Bellagio. I'm not a big fan of the Tram though and often find myself going back to my hotel early in the morning when the Tram isn't running (it only isn't running 4am until 8am) but still the Tram makes it more convenient.

The thing is I mainly look for hotel deals as the hotel is just a place for me to sleep/shower etc. Total Rewards is always offering me fantastic deals and MGM just offers me like $20 off. So I'm always going to go with Total Rewards properties and if I'm not getting deals I'm still going to favor Total Rewards properties since they have hooked me up in the past.

Oh but MGM will give me offers all day for free trips to places I don't want to go like Beau Rivage in Mississippi.

Is mlife not as good as TR when it comes to room comps? I was gonna make a conscious effort to remember to use my mlife card hoping over time I cld get a cheap room.

I'm certainly no expert on it and please don't let my singular anecdotal experiences sway you one way or another.

In general, you should be using your card. If you are playing, why wouldn't you use your card? Also, what you are playing matters. If you are just playing poker don't expect any great deals. The deals are primarily given to players playing slots and table games (blackjack, roulette, baccarat etc).

I primarily count on my card at the poker table to get a $2/hr food comp. I am more than happy with this. If you play at one particular room there is a potential that you can talk to the staff about getting a poker room rate which should be seriously discounted compared to normal rates. It requires you avg a certain number of hours at the poker table a day. I know ARIA will make that arrangement.

I'm certainly no expert but spending most of your time playing poker could actually be viewed as a negative by comp systems that would rather you spend your time playing games more lucrative to the casino. I know some players at various casinos across the country that won't login at the poker table just because they don't want it to mess up their high roller status from playing big Blackjack and baccarat.

We've discussed it around here before and I believe the consensus was that the value is about equal. The difference is that MGM's properties are generally better than CET ones so for the former you would get smaller discounts than for the latter, but the value you're receiving roughly equals out. So it depends on what you value- discounted better room or free crappier room.

I arrive in Vegas June 11th at 11:00. Unfortunately, my airbnb place isn't ready until June 12th.

What is the cheapest (and best value) place to stay? Literally, all I am going to do is check-in, sleep, shower and leave.
